Had a tag in there last year. Pretty tought to find any elk, and then when you do, hope it isn't on private land! Never got to the Peacocks, but there isn't much land on the Musics that is your hunt. The reservation accompanies most of the range. I found elk around the Las Vegas Ranch and the ORO. Main group I found was in 17B, but the name of the ranch is slipping my mind right now. It is south of the ORO and west of the LV ranch. A main road from Chino Valley goes to it. Pressure from hunters was off and on, but there were several groups running around there. Good luck.

I am sorry, I cannot find a year on it, but I got it at the end of last year new. It is the HF model, and the '09s are the GX model with a little different cam and string (atleast the color). Mine has 65% let-off. As for why I am selling...I am really on the ropes of getting rid of it, but I did not draw this year (and stopped applying out of state archery) and have done little bowhunting over the last few years, so am deciding to get some money for now (I have a back up bow still just incase I want to fly a few arrows). I want to shoot the Mathews S2, but none of the shops in northern AZ carry it and don't plan on doing so. I hope that isn't a sign it's a bad bow, but I am assuming it isn't carried because the hot thing these days is the world of the speed bow. Anyone been in an archery shop in the Phoenix area that has one currently there? Thanks

I am "semi" in the market for a new bow. I am shooting a new bow right now that is nice, but not as smooth as my old Mathews and am noticing I don't shoot as well as I use to. I notice the Mathews S2 advertises a smooth shoot. Has anyone shot the S2? I am wondering how that last part of the draw is and does it have a solid anchor?

Bummer hearing SW is having bad customer service. I try to use them over BPS and Cabelas because of the customer service being better.

My picture was about a week into the archery season and he was king of the heard. My buddy wanted to shoot him but we could never get close enough.

Pick a unit in the Flagstaff area and you will have a bit better draw odds than most other units and definitly a chance at elk.

I shoot with several guys with a 250 and we have yet to find a bullet that does what you are looking for. Just a lot of gun, but a good one! My buddy just got a box of varmit grenades from Black Hills ammo and said it fragmented inside the dog he shot and was the first time he didn't have the exit hole. Not sure if they were made for predators, but worth a look.

I'll be heading back down Friday to 36C. The first trip was a bit of a bust. Weather was a little rough and all I could find is does. I'll be by myself so if anyone is down there that doesn't mind an extra body in camp, let me know. I'll be bouncing around a few different spots, but planned to camp in about the central part of the unit. Happy holidays all!
