  2. This is like new. I've had it on one hunt and it's in perfect condition. I'm only selling to get a little more power for longer range hunting. This is not the HS or PST it's the Standard Viper with the Dead Hold BDC Reticle. Retail Price is $399. I have the box and the lense covers. There are some light scratches under the rings but they are very light, the glass is perfect. Vortex has one of if not the best warranty in the biz, even used buyers are covered in full. 1 inch tube. Price is firm, I'll keep it for less then $250. Details from Vortex. http://www.vortexoptics.com/product/vortex-viper-3-9x40-riflescope-dead-hold-bdc-reticle
  3. I found a nice clean Browning A bol with a 13.50 LOP but a 20 inch barrel in 7mm-08. I've heard some folks say a 20 inch barrel has a lack of accuracy and maybe some velocity for loss of energy. Any thoughts?
  4. factory rifle, not chopped. Thanks for the feedback
  5. for sale is a lightly used well cared for Ruger SP101 Stainless with 2.5 inch barrel. Crimson trace rubber overmold grip laser not the less expense polymer grip. this is single or double action and with the laser it's a pleasure to shoot. Good for home, camp, or carry. Nice a light but not so light you can't shoot 357 with it. Gun retail is $600 Site retail is $299 Fair deal is $500. I'm in phoenix and can meet this week, I'll be in Prescott on Friday but will be on the move up there. Thanks for looking,
  6. I'm going to reduce to $450
  7. I have an option to purchase an older Ruger M77 6mm. Cosmetically seems fine. I've had a two friends that owned a M77 6mm and both had a heck of time finding ammo that it shot consistantly, one finally gave up and sold his. I'm sure Ruger makes a fine rifle, maybe it's inharently the 6mm round the is finicky. I suppose the only way to know is to buy and shoot it, if it's not good I can always sell it, but I hate to sell a rifel to someone that I think shoots poorly. Any thoughts or advice? Would make a great little rifle for my 13 year olds first.

    Grayback Mtns Jr Hunt 20c

Thinking about scouting around the Grayback mountains to put in for a Jr Mule deer hunt. Anyone have any thoughts on this being a decent area to consider fo ra late Novemeber hunt? Hoping for more 4x4 travel. less hunt pressure, and don't mind putting some miles on the boots and time on the glass.

    Grayback Mtns Jr Hunt 20c

    Yes I believe that's in 20c
  11. Farwell old boy. Looking back at your life we had some great days that I won’t soon forget. I remember the time when… You were the little GSP pup that wouldn’t leave my lap as an 8 week old pup. You were always first in the truck ready to hunt, camp, or mnt. bike. You’d run the trails while I biked for miles and then we’d sit on tailgate and split a beer. You’d run through Cholla cactus and never even yelp or cry with your nose up sippin the wind for quail. You’d bury your head in a thorn bush or cholla and dig out the down quail and never thought twice You always gave me a great look after you winded bird, help point, steady to shot and I’d put two shells behind the bird letting it fly away. I’m sure you had some choice words for me. I thought I taught you to hunt buy I finally learned it was you teaching me. Your tail always told me what I needed to know following you in the field. Then there was… The mama skunk you fought on a camp trip, she ripped up your stomach good and you smelled for a month, be she never came back out of that wood pile. The time on a camp trip during archery deer. I left for my spot pre dawn and left you in the tent with wife and kids. Two miles to my pre scouted spot I was set and ready. An hour after sunup the crashing in the trees told me a deer was coming in right at 40 yard pin. Arrow back and ready, and who pops out but you. Soon as mom let you out of the tent you tracked me to spot and you couldn’t be happier with yourself. Then there was the time you stuck your head in a hole and a rattle snake bit you in the nose. Two benydril later and an ice bath and you pulled through that day too. I thought your head was going to pop it was so big but you kept wagging your tail. Oh yea and remember up at Canerro lake when you swam after ducks for more than an hour, I thought you were going to drown for sure. Nope, you loved it. How about the bird you went and got that dropped over that deep wash by the barb wire fence. I thought you’d gone over a cliff, but a good fence gash in your back and a tough climb back up the drop off and there you were bird in mouth. How about when you ear got all tore up and when it healed in rolled like a pork rind. With all your scars and marks some people would meet you and think you had a rough go in life, but I know you wouldn’t change a thing. You were the toughest ole dog I ever new, right up to the end you help on as long as you could and were never a burden. Our best times were always sitting on the tailgate after a hunt and I’d pull all the cactus that were buried in your paws while we spit a PBR. My hunts won’t be the same without you old boy. I buried you in your favorite spot under the ficus tree, nailed your tag in the tree, and tonight we’ll split one more PBR. I hope you find the trails clean of cholla and the birds holding tight in cover were you’re going. Maybe the hunter you’re with will hit a few more birds for all your hard work. I miss you Apache.

    Draw results out on phone

my buddy just called and said he just got in on the website, but the results were unlike anything he's seen before it only listed that he was not successful for Archery 3a/3c, didn't list his other options or his bonus points to confirm he didn't get anything? Strange I've been hitting redial for 2 hrs and three times I called some poot girl named Niki. Sorry Niki.

First Jr. Javi Hunt Coming up

Have fun with him Coach. Chasing them stinky pigs with the boys is a blast. I may be heading up your way in a couple months to do a shed hunting weekned with my boys. I'll shoot you a PM and maybe you guys can drop by the camp, I think are kids are about the same age.
  15. So for the past year a hunting buddy and I would go out and try to call in coyotes. At first it was really just to get away from the house and oh maybe a coyote would come by. With no luck, not even close, we got a cheap electronic call, still we had not luck. Funny thing is that we'd laugh at how in desert near our houses we'd see yotes all the time walking our dogs or in our neghborhood, but nothing when we went out to call. This past month my buddy broke down and bought a pretty nice electonic call (couple hndred bucks) and we've gone out three times since them with not even a call back. We always where camo, sit still, try to work the wind so it's in our favor and have tried a number of differnt areas. We are both in the north phx area. It's getting to be kinda funny, we can go hunt Elk, deer, Pigs and be succesful or at least have a hunt, but coyotes, not luck, unless I hunt in my backyard. We've tried up on a ridge so we can glass for miles, we tired getting in the thick for a shotgun shot. We just suck at this. Can anyone direct us to a site for "How to hunt Coyotes for Idiots 101"? Or, maybe provide some pointers. It just seems like when I'm not looking for them there they are, and when I am, where the $%%# are they. I'm getting hooked on something I'm having no success on.
  16. I have an option on a Remingtom 700 Boone and Crocket 30-06. It has a laminate stock with a flutted barrel but otherwise seems like the same action and trigger as other 700. does anyone own one or have an opinion on if its just a dressed up 700 no better no worse? Like a gimic for sales. Thanks

    Product Reveiw:

I purchased these from Jaret and spoke to him on the phone for a while. Great guys, he could sure use the marketing help. His pack is USA made unlike Badlands. I hope he can find some success with retailers. I like the extra pockets for my rangefinder, wind detector and call for working on a stalk. Everything is right at hand. Very happy and the pricing is fair.
  18. Thats a good point. It shoots pretty tight for him but he's young and his skill is still improving. It certainly doesn't seem like it has any problems. I just thought I could make it better for him.
  19. If you owned a stock rem 700, or Ruger M77, Savage 110, etc. what would be the first or only upgrade you would make to improve accuracy? Not incuding scope options. Would you drop in a Timney trigger or make pillar bed the stock?
  20. So reason I'm asking is that I picked up a Savage 110 laminate stock 30-06 for my 13 year old and he's had some succes with it on cow elk and deer. I put a Burris Fullfiled 4.5 X 14 X 42 and it has teh accutrigger. anyway, I want make a rifle that he can be very cofident with and if he only has one rifle while he goes to college and as a young man he just knows it can do all he needs, so he kinda looks back at his old man as takin care of him. I know he needs a better scope, but I like the trigger. What else could I do to imprive the rifle? Bed the action? Thanks for the advice. Gunsmith in Phx would be great too.
  21. has anyone ever attempted this non permit hunt. I know it's very limited area and very few elk, but also heard that in some cases private land owners have some elk on their property they'd like removed and if you can find these land owners and get permission they can be succesful hunts. It goes from Jan to end of March. I was interested in the verde valley hunt area if anyone has any previous history.
  22. this was a fun topic to get the feedback on. after reading the back and forth I think i'm going with a slingshot. Light, durable, and there's rocks everywhere. David killed Goliath so I think I've got a chance. Actually I think I'm going revolver, and leaning toward the ruger SP101 in a 2 inch barrel.
  23. Anyone have any thoughts on Kahr 45 or 40? Seems pretty small and enough power.
  24. thanks Lark, I'm kinda leaning toward a revolver just for the reliability and I figure if I need it I'm going to be real close to whatever it is I'm shooting at. Ruger LCR has a knew 22 model. I guess my only hang up on a 22 or even a 38 snubby is if I stumble on a Sow with cub. Not sure that's going to be enough. Any thoughts?
