  1. I do wonder what these elk are thinking when they see one of our cameras. I had (I don't know if he made it yet) that would look for my camera. You could see where he would circle the tree where it was mounted. The last time I put it there, the entire roll of film was him, but too close to see anything more than fur. The last photo though, he figured out how to use it! When we moved it, I got these guys...

    Rhino or Ranger?

The stock Rhino out runs it's own lights! That is also the reason we are having the KCs added to mine. On my dad's elk hunt in 6a I told him we had two choices for going back to camp. Be a little cold for a long time, or be really cold for a short time! But on the way back the lights just were not bright enough to safely watch for game that might have been crossing the road, or to see the rough areas before you hit them.

    Stickers!

Well it took a little longer than I thought it would, but today I snuck away to four peaks for a few hours just for a couple photos. It was actually nice weather out there today, and had the windows down and the AC off for the entire time I was working my way towards the base. I was going to attempt to go up to pigeon springs, but that storm was moving in quick, and I was already kind of low on fuel so that will have to happen another day.
  4. Really? I thought we covered this in your homemade snack thread about this time last year.
  5. From Dobson High, in Mesa.
  6. Sweet, congrats bud! I also graduate on the 25 of this month, then it's nothing but scouting for hunts for a while, that is going to be a nice change. Becker and Littlebear leave, and we take their place.

    Bears

That makes sense to me, about them trying to keep from having a bunch of headless bodies out there. Infact, I don't think bear is all that bad, lion either, they are not my first choice of meat though.

    Rhino or Ranger?

Now that I'm home I can see them. That Rhino is cool looking, ours are the plain green 460, but they get the job done better than anything I have owned so far! David, that suzuki is looking great! I like the new paint also, and the "bling" just finnishes it all off. I like it.

    Rhino or Ranger?

After all that, it wouldn't fit! That's a bummer. With our toyhauler we can only fit one Rhino in it, and the top only has about a fingers width to clear the top bed. On the other hand, we are going on about three months with my Rhino getting worked on. My cousin was working with a couple companies to make a rear bumper with back up lights, and fitting two 6" KC lights on the front. He has one side done. Where did you get the DynaFS CDI box? Are there any problems with the indicators on the dash when you put it into reverse? We were looking at some blackrhino CDI boxes for ours, but there were problems with them that they were trying to work out. Right now I'm behind a firewall and can't see any of the photos you all posted, so I'll have to come back later and look at them. David's rig sounds cool though, and that security system sounds even better.

    Antlers on Ebay

I too have heard those stories of people selling them to make some cash. Infact a friend of the family (or it may BE family, just farther down) paid for his daughter's wedding with sheds. I don't know where he sold them, but he had them by the truckloads. I'm not sure how much a few would bring, or if it would even be worth what you went through to get them. I think e-bay would be your best bet for selling singles, or matching sets.

    THIS STINKS!!!!!!!

Well, eighty views, and not one reply. Yep, that stinks!
  15. Yeah, she would have to some amazing work in order to get my vote, but with all the stuff she pulled with the gun laws a while back she would have to give me my own fourty acre ranch in the white mountains to get it.
  16. Oh well too slow again!
  17. That is very interesting indeed. I would like to find a photo of this thing if anyone has seen one floating around somewhere and see it for myself, there has to be a "trophy" photo somewhere! *EDIT* See, I told you there had to be one!

Yeah I rushed mine too, and messed up the "O" in Coues, so I had another "O" made, and messed that one up too. I'll get a photo of mine up ASAP
  19. Can I ask where it was? Right off the road in the open areas? Up in the pines more? There have been some shady people hanging around up there, seting up camp late Sunday night but not having the "normal" camping gear.

    hunter harassment law

Now correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't they do this a few years back up near Forest Lakes/ Heber? If I remember the story I heard right, there were two guys out there doing this same stuff. One had cooking pots, and the other had a video camera. The cameraman would hang back while the other one would walk towards a hunter banging the pots. The cameraman was supose to film the "angery hunter" and get him throwing the first punch on film. When he did, they would get him in court. It just about worked until the judge noticed the pots on the groud. Either way I do hope they will enforce this law. But then again I wish they would enforce the road hunting "law" too.

    Rhino or Ranger?

Oh yeah I forgot! My cousin is installing some home made parts on to one of our Rhinos. Two 6" KC lights, and a custom bumper.

    Rhino or Ranger?

Awsome! You (and your clients!) will enjoy it a lot more than a quad! Can't wait for the photos.

daryl, that is what I was trying to say. I just re-read my above post, and it was very clear how I wasn't making my point. I was just saying, that those who would shoot a large bull (or deer, or anything) then coming back a day later or so to follow the blood and then taking the antlers of this now dead animal. That is how it was described to me by Officer Phoenix of the AZGFD up near Flag. He also told me that if a car has hit the animal, and it has lived for a while after it was hit. Meaning it ran off deeper in the woods, then died later, the office has said that it then becomes natural causes. For me, I would rather call in, then get in trouble and not be able hunt for a while for an animal I didn't take in the first place. Although I do not completly agree with the rule, I can see how it might be needed. But like some of you said, if I find a nice coues head out there with no meat on it and just bone. I would pack that out and would find it hard to feel any guilt on my part.

I can see it going both ways though. I'm sure there are guys out there who stick a huge bull, then lets it run off. Then later, he happens to walk up on this dead bull, and takes the rack. That's poaching in my book.

    Robbed

On my cameras I too try to get it out there a ways from everyone. Of course, I put one of them on a road that was closed to all motorvehicles, but I got a nice photo of a guy on a quad who decided it was just too far to walk. That wasn't the worse part, he cut a new trail across the area with a saw so he could get off the road. Lucky for me, he didn't see the camera, and lucky for him he had a face mask on, or that photo would have been handed over to the forest service. I also try to keep mine off of the trails by a few feet. It gives you better photos, getting the entire animal most of the time, instead of a huge eyeball. It also helps to keep it hidden. I had some other people walk around the water I had one sitting at, I got some photots of them but since my camera was far enough away I still have it. I use a bike lock too, it isn't going to keep those who want it bad from getting it, but it will keep the honest people honest.
