I always like the hunting shows that would come on cable early on Sunday morning. Right as the arrow was released, or before the trigger was pulled the screen would blur to a black screen as the sound of the shot was heard. Those were very well done I think, and when they showed the animal it was clear that it had already been cleaned up, and the tounge stuck back into it's mouth before the scene was shot.

+1! I try to get out into the back yard and fling atleast twenty arrows (even though it's only +/- 30 yards) a few times a week.

Hey, what happened to the story!?! The reason I posted the " " was because I was really getting into the story, then you left us hangin'! I blew two stalks on pigs earlier this year, then got one more chance, and shot too low with my bow. Please repost it!

What's your favorite thing about AZ?
BASS replied to stanley's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Yet another native, and for me it has to be the abilty to change so quickly. People on the net are always amazed at how in one weekend we can be in so many different kinds of terrain so quickly with out having to travel hours and hours. Arizona is just a great place. -
Not to mention the hunter's play by play comentary of the event to the camera after the shot. They do play off the camera well, but I still like a good Elk one every now and again.

I found them at Checker Auto Parts (look in the "import racer" stuff). Up there this weekend we talked to an officer, and he said that pretty much as long as there is a light on the plate, you are good to go, but that doesn't mean some cop might be having a bad day and will try to nail you for that. We did get nailed by the forest service for not having "MC" plates on our bikes, but he just talked our ears off and gave us a very stiff warning. Which for us, meant driving all the way back down to Chandler to get the correct plates, so we could go back up there and be legal. I'll get you some photos of the LEDs in the morning, I just unloaded the truck and I'm now spent for the night.

Mine is done! (for now) It still needs a winch, and some new rims/tires, but that will have to come later. Like I said above, my cousin made all the parts for us, and hooked us up with the KC lights, as well as the LED tail lights. I like it, and can't wait to take it out to West Clear Creek this weekend to test all the new goodies out. The lights that mount to the roll bar mounting bolts... The homemade bumper, with LED brake lights and ID plate. The license plate lights are the top bolts, they too are "super bright" (blue) LEDs. And just incase I need to be heard.....

Hey TDB, welcome to Coueswhitetail.com!

I'm still trying to earn one of those. From what I can gather it's a random drawing of those who spend more than $200, correct?
-
Very cool find. Maybe just open it enough to find the claim number? Then track it that way to find out who's it was?

For the archery coues hunt I run solo or sometimes with a friend, but mostly it's just me and the bed of my truck. But on the rifle hunts, elk hunts, and anything else we use the toy hauler. Rich, that is a nice looking deer.

Uh oh. This one snuck up on me! I thought for sure that Bass Pro was ahead of these guys by a couple months atleast. That sure does sound like it's going to be a great place to visit.

I sure hope so! -
Glad to hear I'm not the only one who is going to be breaking in a new string. Besides that, I have two new spots I am wanting to check out, and store a couple cams to see if I have chosen the right spots.
-
The last animal I would ever take in my life? I would want it to be a nice mature Bull Elk from Az.
-
That camera is really neat! I like how it gives you the temp. the date and moon phase. That kind of info will be priceless later on in the year. It also takes nice photos.

Ask, and you will receive! I found this set over at my great grandfathers house after he died. After reading your post I went and dug them out. I got some paper to try and get the info off of them and found out my house might be getting raided soon for illegal possession! The info on the metal tag reads "1968 JAVILINA AG&F 3073" -
As they say "w00t!" You are one lucky guy! Do you know when you are suppose to be back in Az? Good luck, and we all expect a bunch of cool photos!
-
Yeah, that was a special trip!

Does anyone think Amanda will go for this?

There seems to be a huge trend going around about 90% of the websites that I'm a member of. The owners have visited cafepress.com , and made an acount. Then they ask their members to vote on a site logo. Ussually with the name of the of the site in little letters on the left side of the front, and a picture with the name of the site on the back. I really like the idea, and think that if there was enough people who asked really nicely Amanda may try the idea out. Now for the best part IMO. To register a "company" on cafepress, it's free, and only takes a little while, then loading the images onto the shirts is as easy as uploading a file. There is no need to order a bunch of t-shirts, hats, or sweaters, as each person would buy what they want, order it, and cafe press would make it, and ship it. They take a small portion out of each sale, and the rest of the money goes to the owner of the company, IE Amanda. It would also be a great giveaway for the guess the score contests. This may help out with the cost of keeping a great site like this up, and allow us to look cool too. Any thoughts? Does anyone know of another site like cafepress.com, but has a much larger choice of colors? Camo? I would like some major feedback on this, thanks. -
Thanks JVS! I knew I couldn't have been getting the entire story. Good to know for sure.

Is there any word from you guys on a 230" Carp shot last year by a man with the last name of "Polzin" (sp?) The word is that he came down here in Febuary to buy a house, and became a resident. He then bought an archery tag for the August OTC deer hunt. In the mean time the house he was buying went tits up, so had to find another one, and he did six months before the hunt. He then shot a very nice 230" carp up near Pintop during that hunt. Later on the GFD came in, and said that he was facing a felony from them because he was not a true resident at the time of the kill. The judge threw the case out for the time being because the case was not strong enough, as the GFD gathered a new case agaist him. The last part is that the GFD served a search warrant to his house, and removed any photos of game that was in there, including a photo of his wife holding a set of elk horns from another state. With that photo the GFD is now saying that his wife is also going to be a felon for aiding in the crime. I tried to go back to the archives to look for any info on it, but could not find anything. I showed the photo of the 213" carp in the bow section to my uncle who told me the story, but he said that it wasn't the same deer, and that the shooter is a bigger guy.

It just might be the frugal side of me, but I wonder if there is anything of use in any of those packs? Either way that is just horrible, and very unacceptable. Have you ever fowarded any of these photos to the media? Not that I enjoy working with them at all, but it might be enough to push some fence sitters over to our side.

24 road, turkey everywhere! Trust me, you need to find the 24 road, and play on that all day. Also, hang near the ranch houses if all else fails. They are not calling, so you may need to belly crawl to get a little closer. Atleast that is what everyone I have talked to says, and they have gotten birds! Good luck!
