Big +1 I know if I worked at any store like that I would be handed a bill at the end of the week too. Good luck with your new job!

Rejected two years in a row. What is up with that? I filled out four different apps for people, and mine is the only one who is always rejected. I want to hunt!

A Species At Risk Biologist for Parks Canada e-mailed them to a friend, and then then he e-mailed them to me. Now here they are for your enjoyment. I'd hate to be stuck in that tree stand until they left.

How are you guys dealing with your K&N filters out on the dusty trails? A friend of mine has one, and he carries an extra filter in a large ziplock back to replace it. After the trail is done, his looks like one big mud clump from all the oil. I use the AEM Brute force. It's a dry filter, It makes a nice whistle at about 2K RPMs.

You can always order the Ford keys, and replace the chevy ones. That way you can crank up the front a bit more to clear larger tires. Just not too much that your CV angle are too tight. I tossed a sixer on my 01 silverado, and so far I love it. I am having problems with my CVs, but nothing too bad, although I do like to keep it looking nice, so it stays clear of the really rough stuff. That why I have a rhino too.

What the heck is up with these things? I screwed up three shots this weekend when my rifle failed to ignite the powder. Maybe I just don't know the tricks of the trade yet. But I would load the powder in, and slap the side to try to get some powder in the chamber below the nipple, pack the round home, cap it, pull the trigger and *snap* Recap the nipple, pull the trigger, and again the cap would go off, but not the rest of the charge. I would then have to stuff a little powder down the nipple hole and hope for the best. This would ignite the charge sometimes, but again, not very consistantly. When I would make a comment like "If this thing doesn't go off this time, I'm pulling out the inline." at camp that night, *snap* *Boom!* Leaving me complety confused again. I tried hiking with it upside down, muzzle low, muzzle high, in my right hand, left hand, anything I could think of. I didn't tag out, but had a lot of fun trying to figure this gun out. I also know if I had to use this thing to survive a winter, I might as well put the thing to my head; but my luck it wouldn't go off.

mzlloader, I was using Hodgon Pyrodex "RS" with CCI U.S. Musket Caps- Liberty" The can also says non-corrosive, and Extra Strength. I guess I should have used uber-duty strength. The more I think about it, the powder may have been bad. The protective seal was practally falling off, the first time I opened it. And like I said above, who knows when it was first put on the shelf. I'm not discourages though, I love the sound of the snap of the cap just before the boom of the rifle. Another question. The cap fit very loose on the nipple. I searched around and could only find one size of caps. That just doesn't seem right to me on how loose it was.

That maybe. The shop I bought it from doesn't sell a lot of black powder stuff to begin with. So who knows how long it had been sitting there. I thought that hitting the side of the gun would sift some powder under the nipple, but it wouldn't. Maybe I should try cleaning the thing harder to loosen any gunk up. Yeah, that's for sure!

I have to say not to go cheap on the water bladders. Wal-Mart sells one, with a screw on hose. That thing leaked every time I tried to use it. Then the hose somehow unscrewed and left my pack and my butt soaking wet. I now use a three litre camelback bladder in my 2200. Over the weekend my shut off valve sprung a leak again draining most of the water before I noticed. I spent the rest of the weekend carrying a 32 ounce nalgene water bottle and not hiking more than a few ridges from where the water was. It didn't matter though I always ended up getting shots a couple hundred yards from where I parked.

for all you "gangstas" out there

I wonder if this is a "tactical tupperware" only thing, or if they make them for the 1911 also. -
Play with it a bit before you put it in the field. Your backyard, or front door seems to work best IMO. Make sure you secure it well, or else you will get plenty of pictures of birds in the tree above it. Replace the batteries everytime you put it back out, no matter what. Be sure to clear all branches away from it, as when the wind blows it may trip the camera. Do a little scouting before putting it out. Don't just stick it on the first trail you find. Make some attempt at hiding it, I have plenty of photos of people walking around tanks, but they must not have seen the camera. Try to keep it set off the tank, or trail a little ways to help get better photos of entire animals and not noses, and tails. Sometimes a little extra something above/near the cam will give you awsome photos, or it may get your cam mauled. But mostly stick it out there! You will never get cool photos with it sitting on your desk. (I need to follow this rule myself! )

+1, but they were a little hard to find last time I went to buy some. Back ordered or something.

Good job guys! I went scouting over the weekend, and this is my year! Missedagain is going to have to change his mind after this hunt!

Hey now! That's my old ought six that hasn't been shot for years! I didn't want to dig out the 7mm so that was grabbed. I could have used my Christmas present, the ole Red Ryder! But yeah, that gun needs to be cleaned along with the rest of my equipment.

I have the manfrotto tripod with the manfrotto pistol grip head and I love the setup. I bought them seperate and didn't put them together for a while, but did for my coues hunt in October and don't think I could go back to the old style with the long rod you twist to tighten/loosen the head. The best part I think is how you can pull it up, and put it on it's side for an instant rest for a rifle. It's really sturdy as a rest. I've taken it out to the Rio Salado range and taken shots out to 300 with no problem with being shaky. I do wrap a bandana around it when I'm using it but I took it off for the photos.

Merry Christmas - a great movie!

We hung some ornaments off of our european elk mount but that is too funny! -
If I went to check my camera at night, and that photo came up on the screen I would be setting a new land speed record out of there.
-
Yeah I would like to get my hands on a true Coueswhitetail.com shirt when they become available!

I bought another yardage pro for archery hunting so ranging out to 300 was all I really wanted it to do. But was told that the ranges advertised are on hard objects such as buildings, or other reflective objects. It's kind of a rule of thumb to take that number, and divide it in half to find what that unit will do on soft targets such as deer and elk. So far each one I've played with has made that rule true.

I have a set that dates back to the late 70's that my great grandfather shot. They sat out in his garage/carport in a box that got wet each time it rained for years until he died about seven years ago and I snagged them. They look better than some of the ones I find from last season.

w00t1!! Merry Christmas from the Bass'! BTW, yes he is tagged correctly (finnaly a use for that unfilled October tag!) -
How about you give us the GPS location of this camera, it will help us to find out who it may have been. JK I still want to find a camera out in the field and pose for my photo with this mask on.
-
I'm going to have to order one of those.

I always like to check out the archery sites about now to see everyone selling this years hot bow for next years hot bow.

Very cool photos. Thanks for posting them.
