Doesn't the Oregon have 3D maps on it? That would be pretty cool to help find natural funnels and such. But those color screens eat through batteries fast from the ones I've used.

Looks nice man! I did my 10-22 like that a while back for grins. Then I decided to hit my project gun I was working on. I used fiberglass tape taped to a template to get my "camo" pattern. It's fun, and with a little thinner takes it all off again.

I too bought a 5 shot .357 revolver, although I have the airlight model, and it's more of a pocket gun. Pretty accurate, but I have other options over it.

+1 I've only had rifles (semi-auto) jam on me to the point I had a problem clearing it. With any of my pistols it's always been tap, rack, *bang* and I carry either a g21sf, or a 1911 most of the time, and have never had a problem with any of them either.

Does the rifleings in the judge make the buckshot throw a "doughnut" pattern? I've liked those since the first time I saw the prototype video. If you are dead set on a semiauto, in .40 short & weak ( ) Scottsdale Gun Club has some g22 police trade ins for sale right now for cheaper than a new one; and extra mags are only $10.

I killed a deer in January w/my bow and appled for a fall tag so I could gift it to my daughter if she did not draw. I drew the tag and she drew her own. I have to forfeit the tag because I can't kill two deer. You won't commit a violation until you kill multiple deer! You could donate it to the HOAL.>>> Manny I know it was kind of a PITA to go that route when I tried a couple years ago. I had everything setup, had the tag, lots of places to hunt in the area, access to the area already paid for, everything. They pretty much stated they weren't intrested. Bummer. So we hunted hard for a day and a half, and came home.

my camera stolen too
BASS replied to AZLance's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
Don't bears enjoy our 35mm cameras too? Hmmm I think I'm going to buy a bear tag, and some paint grenades. -
I love my A-bolt 7mm mag, and I love the 700 actions, sounds like you have a pretty sweet little gun! The 7mm is my main coues and elk gun, although I'm "training" a .300WM right now.

So today at the river there were some shots fires. MCSO was dispatched out to the area to investigate why there was shooting in an area closed to shooting/hunting. A K9 was dispatched out when the shooters refused to come out of the brush when confronted by Sheriffs Deputies. Anyways, long story short, AZGFD was called out and arrested the two guys for 1) killing a rattlesnake and 2)discharge of a firearm near an inhabited building. It was mentioned, that many snakes are killed every year by many people, and was promptly followed up with "well, they are participating in illegal activity in which they will be arrested for if caught." When the heck did this happen? Who knew that we were all breaking the law each dove season.
-
That's what was going on. The river opened up this weekend so there was/are a lot of MCSO staff out there making sure everything went smoothly. As soon as a report of shots fired in the area came out everyone who had been relaxing or patroling the parking lots took off out to the scene. Just another fun day trying to keep the drunks off the road.

Alright, I've now loaded about fifty rounds of .300wm (180gr SMK, 70gr of reloader 19, federal primer) with the bullet off the lands by approx. .025. And fifty rounds with the same componets loaded right into the lands (touching, very slight resistance when locking the bolt. My question is this, so far I have not reached the maximum preasure and have yet to have any preasure signs with any of my working loads. I was talking this over with a guy I work with who does custom reloads for Barnes Bullets and he was saying to get the bullet jammed right into the lands. Now I have two trains of thought on this. One side of me thinks that this would be correct. The lack of met resistance after free movement makes sense to me IE preasure would be directly into the lands instead of slight gap between the two. But the other side of me says that this would incease the preasure very quickly. So should I load some rounds up with the bullet jammed into the lands and shoot to see how they act since I have yet to meet the preasure signs, and am a good four grains under max preasure? Or should I drop it all the way back down and start over with those again?
-
60,000? That seems high to what I've always thought the 300 wm was capible of. I thought the max preasure was closer to 54,000. I guess it was a good thing I asked this question before starting a starter load!!!
-
Well, who knows if it is correct or not, but I am using the RCBS Precission Mic set, and a double checking it with a digital gauge. If I understand correctly, the RCBS mic gives you the "optimal size " for a loaded round, so backing the round off into freebore would be subtracting slightly from the Mic set reading. Again, right now I'm trying to find a perfect load for this rifle. For the most part these rounds are for blasting rocks a ways out there, or going after yotes that hold up way out there. So far the two rounds are pretty close accuracy wise, and it seems to hold true out to the longer ranges as well. For the most part I am very happy with the way the way the two loaded rounds work together, but curiosity got the better of me when I was told to load them right into the lands by a pretty expirenced reloader. I just wanted to get the thoughts of other reloaders who have been at it as long as you guys have to see if my higher presure concerns were correct. I'll have to set-up a date with my shooting partner to get some range time behind a chronograph.

I spend way too much time on the internet looking for all kinds of things, and sometimes it actually pays off when I review my favorites. Well, they arn't the greatest maps I've ever seen, but hey, they are US topo type maps. And they are free... www.archive.org/details/maps_usgs Get to the final download page, right click, save target as, then open with Windows fax viewer. libremap.org/data/ 7.5' quads for every state. http://nationalmap.gov/gio/viewonline.html http://jdmcox.com have to install this one, it didn't throw any flags on my anti-virus. Again, they aren't the end all solution, but may be helpful

That looks pretty sweet! Who built it for you? I'd almost be scared to take a rifle like that out to the hills to get all scratched up.

I bought one of those a couple years ago and ended up giving it away. I found it too hard to use without having the rifle moving every which way while I was setting up. When I shoot with a bi-pod I push into the bi-pod to preload it, reducing the bounce. With those I found it hard to preload correctly with out it moving all over the place. I can see how a setup like that could be useful with all it's ball joints and springs allowing you to track your target, but in order to take advantage of all of it's movement your target would have to be under 100 yards and walking. While shooting Coues at 200 or 300 yards all you need would be a couple inches at the most to cover a ton of country. I now use Harris bi-pods for most of my rifles now.

My newest project. Remington 700 BDL in .300wm set into a bedded Choate stock, badger ord. 20MOA one piece base, Badger Ord four screw rings, 10x42 turreted scope, and Jewell 1.5 pound trigger. Harris bi-pod with Phoenix Tactical "Pod Claws" to help preload the shot. It's a great little setup shooting 180gr. SMK busting rocks at 800 yards at mt. ord. I like it so much I'm thinking about putting the exact same thing together but in .223. The only draw back is that will all the beefy stuff on it, it weighs quite a bit.

Why you gotta rip on my my threads man? I like my butler, he's very welcoming. Especially when I have guests over who don't know about him.

Man, my bench needs some work! Not bad for the third week of having it set up though, and hopefully I'll snag some shelves, and some peg board to replace the cork board (that is hiding a giant hole ). Currently trying to load these dang rounds just off the lands by just a smidgen, never would have dreamt I would be having so many problems for something that may be totally wrong for this rifle. The bench was a table for my old high school welding class to use as a plasma cutting area. When they shut the program down after my senior year we raided the shop and snagged it. It sat in my back yard for about a year and a half and now it's in my house.

I never wore a watch until I started working where I do. Now when ever I don't have one on it drives me nuts!

I use to go to them every single time any one came to town. But that was when the 7.62X39 and .223/5.56 was still "cheap" now I only go to the crossroads show at the fair grounds. Our military vehicle club gets invited to park out front and we get free parking and admission. It makes it not hurt so bad when you walk out without buying anything.

Help me pick out tires.....
BASS replied to AzPacknHorns's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I have been running Nitto TerraGrapplers on my truck since it was new. The first set I had lasted forever! The second set wasn't too bad, but this last set wore out in no time at all! I was going to go with the Toyos, but man those tires are really expensive for what they are. I may end up with some BFGs or something in the next week or two. -
So what do they teach you at these schools? I mean are they focusing on many differnt topics such as how to cover your butt while running a company like this as well as other topics like people skills? Or is it more strictly hunting type classes?

He actually lives in one of the old streamline trailers on the RV shops property. It's funny now, but at the time, oh man we were ready to kill someone. BTW, we still eat at El Rancho, but now we park in the Del Taco/Walgreens parking lot.

I dunno, my vote is for the .300wm. I love mine, and love thumping rocks at 900 yards. Would I ever take a shot at that range? Prolly not, but it sure makes the 400 yard shots a whole lot easier! Although my setup is hella heavy so maybe it's more of a set up and wait gun instead of a pack gun.
