    FIRST BUGLES

We heard them yesterday morning up in 6A. We also jumped a herd of cows and a couple bulls that numbered around fifty or so. All I know is I'm taking a week off of work to go chase them right before the rut and shoot some video.

    R.V.Storage in Payson

There is a place behind the airport. It's kind of spendy, but locks up tight. We used to store there until we went to happy jack storage. It's been a couple years since we were there, but I'm sure it's still there. There is an industrial park back there and it's mixed in with that.

    Willys Jeep

Oh man, I wish I could snag that. I had a restored 1953 M38A1, and a 1942 Ford GPW restored until earlier this year. I miss those things so much.
  4. Is that a tan 1750? Geez, I think you have the only one in the state right now. Also what is that tripod mount, and where did you get that thing, I want. Nice rifle, I love the 700 action to no end.

    Teachers with Guns

They had one of the board members on a radio talk show the other day when I was driving to work. He was saying that for the police to respond to that school had response time of thiry minutes. So thirty minutes to respond, plus say ten to set up a mobile command on site to talk to off site, prepare entry plan, and begin to excecute said plan. That could be up to an hour after the inital phone call to start the process. I pretty much take it as any time there is a school shooting there will be death. Whether the shooter brings the gun onto campus, or gets it away from a teacher, either way people are going to be seriously injured/killed. So why not give the teachers and students the freedom to protect themselves?

    Verizon Users

I too have had pretty good luck with Motorola also. They take a ton of thrashing and still work pretty well. I'm currently addicted to blackberrys which may be a little too much phone for you, me, everyone
  7. Actually, it is legal. To an extent. Per the AZ BLM website (referenced by the USFS) covering "Dispersed camping" it states.... "Dispersed camping is allowed on Public Lands in Arizona for no more than a period of 14 days within any period of 28 consecutive days. The 28-day period begins when a camper initially occupies a specific location on public lands. The 14 day limit may be reached either through a number of separate visits or through 14 days of continuous overnight occupation during the 28 day period. After the 14th day of occupation, the camper must move outside of a 25 mile radius of the previous location until the 29th day since the initial occupation. The purpose of this special rule is to prevent damage to sensitive resources caused by continual use of any particular areas. In addition, campers must not leave any personal property unattended for more than 10 days." So leaving your trailer, tent, truck, trail cams etc in the woods, alone for less than ten day is perfectly legal as long as it does not leak any hazardous materials, sewage, or gray water.
  8. Do like me and spend insane amounts of money building a .300 WM, put a fancy turreted scope on it, bed it, put special bipod feet on it to limit hop, start reloading for this one gun only.... and end up with a 7mm more or less again. But hey, it's all part of the hobby and a 7mm is pretty nice rifle in my opinon.

    Not Deer Hunting!

I'm going to be stuck in training on opening day. Although I just got the 26th-28th off. For the comments of why I needed it off... I drew a Carp with a very pointy rack.
  10. Scored a 50. Switching from the .308 to .50 was a little too easy I think.

    Teachers with Guns

+1 Tasers and OC only do so much when lives are on the line. Although thinking back there were only a handful of teachers I can think of that I would have trusted to have a gun.

Speaking of all these trail cameras.... anyone got a price for a monkey suit rental for a weekend?
  15. The old response that we give when asked why we carry a .45 of "Cause they don't make a .46" rings true. The 10mm is a beast of a round. Infact after shooting it out of a compact I had a pretty bad flinch. For the most part the 10mm shoots about the same grain bullet faster, but the .40 does it better. For a defensive round the 10mm scores pretty low on my personal list. The recoil is enough to slow down a second shot for me at least enough that I wouldn't trust myself. I'm sure with time and practice the recoil could be managed and overcome much like any other gun. You may want to go shoot some and see how you think you would do with one. Personally I carry .45s and .357s. That's what I'm comfortable carrying, and currently own.

    Mullins boys do it again!

I bet they used binos and had a camp set up before the hunt started..... Congrats guys.
  17. I'm starting to really wonder about this site. I've set my tent/camp up the weekend before a hunt and left some of my gear there just to keep from having to haul it all back up later that week. Its nice to know that when you leave after work late and get up to your spot late you don't have to spend a couple hours having to find a spot and setting up camp in the dark to go to bed. We've left out toy hauler up at a camp site, with a vehicle for the week just to save from having to haul it up later. How does the FS determine that a spot is "saved" or the owners arn't gatting up early to scout, and coming back late?

    Trail cam pictures

+1 I had a 320 gig one (about $150) with all of my work data on it. It crashed last week and has left me high and dry trying to find copies.

    I'm out

Actually there was another who doesn't use them. Only 'cause you have no friends to talk to! Anyone who has actually tried to use radios (not these expensive high tech police grade, repeater bouncing Motorolas, I'm talking Garmin Rhinos, Talk-Abouts etc.) know they are all but useless 90% of the time here in Az. Heck I've been on the next ridge trying to talk to someone and can't get a clear line of communication. Drop down into draw and the line is completly severed. Besides, all people do is scan the channels looking for your animal. *stir the pot*
  24. Makes you think.... saved and sent out.

    Trail cam pictures

I saved most of them. I use to only use 35mm cams so I had hard copies of all the photos, good and bad. I then had to scan to them, and save them to post them on the websites so I had copies on my computer also. I put the hard copies in a small photo album to show other people, and had ones on the coputer got posted... everywhere. Then I got digi cams and did the same thing just backwards. Posted them everywhere, and then printed them out for the album. I've got way too many photos. Heck 1K of them are from one javilina cave.
