    camera checking

When I was heavy into doing the cams I would leave them out for a week. Of course that was also 35mm cameras. I left a digital one with a 4 gig memory card and a solar charger out in the Florence area for over two months I think. Had well over 1k photos on it. Unfortunatly about 400 of them were of the rocks in the background from sticks moving in the wind. While looking at them if you held the arrow button you could watch the run rise and set on the rocks. My rule was to check them at least once a week if possible. That way if something/someone messed with them you would know right away and not come back a month later to find out it had been pointed at the dirt the entire time.

Hows your archery hunt going ?

Yep me too. I carry around a note pad and a pencil for just such cases. I'll be danged if I'm going to get blamed for someone elses stupidity.

    chiggers in az?

We used to go stay at a cabin up on Mt. Ord a few times a year to do maintence or just screw around and shoot some pistols. Every time we would come back home with bites all over the place. I'd definatly stay off of Mt. Ord, nothing there you want to chase, and last I heard the Mogollon Monster had moved to Mt. Ord after too many people started looking for it near Chevelon Lake. Or I guess it could just be the 1st lady on vacation again.

    Spot light

Q-beam was always the best I had found. I also have one of those THOR spot lights, uses the car headlight bulb if I remember right. I ussually end up hitting them with the highbeams, or adjusting a KC light out to where they are.

Perfect set up for hunting back pack

I'd be sure to either buy a Badlands, or Ebblestock pack to get started. Love their equipment and the quality is there for sure. I've sent my Badlands back to the factory twice in the past five or six years to have minor repair work done (small tears, cut straps etc all my fault from tossing packs off drops) and they've fixed it and shipped it back qucikly. For binos, I like a 10x42 pair of glass for normal use. With that bank roll I'd probably buy Swarovski or comparable glass for eye fatigue. Range finders, probably go with Swarovski on that too since I've been looking at one for a couple years now, the farthest I could get my hands on. Spotting scope, something light and compact with high quality glass for light gathering, and super light tripod, that set-up would be lower on my list though. Knives, I lose quite a few it seems like so nothing expensive there, but a handful for sure. Maybe something like the Of course, there would also be the urge to just buy a .50bmg, a nice Night Force scope, a set of old ALICE backpack straps to strap to the rifle (instant backpack!) a glassing chair and a hat from the store. Hike to the tallest mountain knowing the entire unit is fair game for your shot.
  7. After a rather frustrating work week a co-worker and I have decided to hit up a couple stands Thursday (tomorrow) but we're not sure were to go. He lives in the Northern Valley, and I'm on the East Side. Somewhere in the middle would have been nice, but the Phoenix Zoo doesn't like us messing with their dogs per our last visit. If anyone can, drop me a PM or post it here. It would be greatly appriciated.
  8. Good point Bill. While I know my .300 will beat up rounds if I load more than one most of the items I shoot longer ranges with is a larger (elk sized I would guess?) target. While it isn't putting them all in a nice palm sized group it's nailing it regardless.

    H1000 for trade

Don't need a box of dang 7mm RUM do you? Bought a dang box of that by mistake last year and just found it again. I tried to give it to MissedAgain, but he sold his off.

    Queen Valley Area?

I have an archery tag (OTC) burning a hole in my pocket already and fishing? Naw, thats a whole 'nother can-o-worms. I'll take that to heart though, and give it another go when it cools down. Thanks.
  11. Man oh man what a beast! I just saw that buck on another forum and couldn't believe my eyes when the download stopped. Great job guys.
  12. If you guys reload you may want to try seating the bullet just deep enough to fit into the mag. I also shoot a .300 and it solved my problem partially. Then I switched to the accubonds also. I never noticed a problem with shot three being any different accuracy wise in my rifle but YMMW
  13. Who owns the tan pickup that was working the Pinto Canyon road work today? I was coming through on my way to Roosevelt Lake and got stuck waiting for a few minutes when I noticed the sticker.

Hmm, so we have a ghost member out there somewhere. Maybe next time a stop is in order.

Yeah we had them rialed up pretty good (staff, not the animals )
  16. I want to try one of these now on my .300wm. I have it set up for longer range and havn't got the urge yet to replace the barrel with a heavy barrel so I still have the factory sporter. What can it hurt besides wasting some rounds?
  17. My inline (no scope) is dead at 100, and that's about as far as I think I'd take it. I know my dad was nailing the gong at 200 with his
  18. Is that a heavy barreled gun, or a sporting barrel?
  19. I'd find a new friend to hunt with! I have no idea how I would react to finding something like that, but I think I would take a ton of photos. I love stuff like that and even when we have cutters at work I always want to see the wounds. I got to sit in on a surgery last year and couldn't look away the entire time. We are really interesting on the inside.

    Had a thougt, Rimfire

Yikes! Thats one thing I would not want to reload, or mess with. I don't know very much about it, so maybe that's why I don't think I would personally do it (lack of material out there on it compared to centerfire reloading). But I can see that becoming pretty bad with the small amount of powder involved. I know growing up we used to pull the bullets, and double charge one round, and then make the other one a "silenced" round with no powder that just used the primer (and it wasn't very silenced to any black van driving feds out there) It worked great until we tried it in my friends grandfathers old Sears single shot. It split the stock, and blew the fire control group out the bottom. No real damage to the gun itself, as reassembled it the best we could and still shot it through the weekend. I'm sure you could play around with it the same way we did, but putting a press into the mix to get really serious about it may get interesting should that lever get pulled too quickly. I think with the higher end rimfire ammo out there I would rather just buy the match grade ammo and still be ahead. Pretty interesting concept though. I wonder if you could get more than one "pop" out of the rim if you rotated it, or if all the primer compound is used up on the first one.....?

Whats the score of that barrel cactus? Don't worry, you'll get 'em next time.

    Never seen one this big.

He shouldn't be too hard to find. He doesn't blend into the background surroundings at all!
