Who'd a thought that a product like that wouldn't deliver. I guess it *could* be possible to not let any smell out, but wearing a giant trash bag would get rather hot I think.

I do remember before my old ones died that they didn't really do either job (radio/gps) all that well. I was hoping they had changed.

When I was around eight or nine I was hunting with my dad up near 4A, we were taking a rest and I laid down bouncing my foot side to side. A small herd of elk came wandering by and a cow who must have seen the bobbing came right up to my shoe to smell it. It has to be one of the coolest things that ever happen in the field, until I got sneezed on by a calf a few years ago.

On Saturday I had a small spike mewing all over a mountain, and a smaller bull bugling with about six cows or so. Sunday, nothing. No talking, no locating, nothing. I was cow/calf calling, and got no answer at all and ended up walking right up on two cows and two calves feeding less than thirty yards from me. Same with a bull, I tried a couple locater bugles, and didn't get an answer. Turned out a bull was just up the road working his way towards me. I write it off to all the people out riding this weekend.

I'm now hearing it was/is up near the Stoneman Lake Road on the Highways side of the unit, and was still small and they were going to let it burn. With it being wet over the past few months I doubt it would get too far. But I've heard that before too.

It's news to me! I was just up there Tuesday, when did it start? I know there has been something burning farther East for a few weeks now.

Are you guys running the LED heads in your surefires? I mean I love my surefires to death and carry one every day, my shotgun has one as does my AR15, but an hour and a half and it's toast! My 6PD with the Malkoff Device head is a mini spot light!

Maybe I should start buying blaze orange knives too. I once bought a nice Benchmade Griptillion to wear when I went out scouting. I had to have an green one, loved the color and the knife for the entire week I had it. It now lives up in 6A somewhere never to be seen by me again!

I'm sure you've heard the term "cold bore" shots. I have an old 30-06 that was my grandfathers when he was younger and i'm sure the barrel is about shot out. But the more you shoot the thing the larger the pattern it throws. Yes, after about twelve shots or so in a short time it no longer groups, it patterns. But let 'er cool down and it will be dead on every time. Craziest gun I've ever owned.

HUGE +1 The best ammo you will ever find with be the stuff that is custom tailored to your rifle. Even with some sub par powder and primer I get factory worthy loads out of my guns when you load em right. With that being said, Federal has always been my go to "oh crap! I forgot my ammo back in the valley!" ammo

I've used the kits from Wal-mart and Sports Authority a couple times for my small 2x2 and 2x2.5 they turned out rather well I think. If you have a dremel it makes it easier, but a hacksaw will do just fine also when you are cutting the skull cap down.

Very true, but here in Az, if you set it up near a water hole, or a quarter mile of a water hole how many scents are there all year long?

It does sound a little odd, but when you yank that hose off it, I love it for a cow call.

I'm from the mind set of locate, and move, or locate and setup with minor calling. Bugling is great, and at night you can really get some bulls pissed off at you while doing it, but during the day I've always had better luck sticking to being on the quiet side.

Hey guys, I'm looking to snag a new set of limbs for my Phantom. Love the bow to death, but have got to pull some more weight. I was lookig around on AT and there were posts about people calling martin and having buying new limbs. Some of the posts said they would ship them directly to a Martin Proshop and they would install them. Anyone know of a friendly Martin Proshop on the East Side? Willing to go valley wide. Thanks Bass
