AZ Game and Fish releases survey results
dave replied to Huntin'AZ's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Very disappointing but expected. Here we go. Can't wait for the sales tax initiative. -
Just curious if any of you have done any testing with the new Muzzy MX3 or MX4? I have tested Wacem broadheads and found they fly exactly like field tips. Have also tested them shooting through paper and find they shoot the same as field tips and do not seem to change the spine or the FOC of the arrow significantly. Just wondered if any of you have done the same with the new shorter Muzzy’s? It is a project I plan to do but haven’t got around to it yet.

The way I thought about the new idea is to think about it more. Wait and see where these short limb bows go. PSE has their version of a verticle (straight) riser with a short limb. I will hang out and see where the dust settles before I start selling the farm.
-
If you have time to use all the stuff you can sure shoot better. Works pretty good for antelope, mentally retarded deer and other challenged animals. I don't think you can beat someone like the lbstickmaster shooting instinctive. Not too many guys can do that. No way I can. I guess stick bows are not on the list.

This guy I know that was the first of two to receive the Kaibab Award from the Bowhunting in Arizona Record Book shot a bow between 107 and 130 lbs. When it went off it sounded like a gun going off and you could hear it a quarter mile away, he killed most everything there was to kill pretty much. I have never used string silencers after understanding this phenomenon.

Josh, Are you still shooting fingers? Wondered why you didn't pick the AR37?
-
Not sure how many elephants and polar bears have been taken with a .243?
-
I guess there are pros and cons of long and short. If the AR short works for you, go for it. You can't argue with success. Then when everyone grows up, they can get their own Hoyt
-
About the avatar, I am just glad we could only see Josh’s' top knot. Josh, did you have the gorilla suit on? LOL Fantastic buck and a perfect shot.
-
Hope I can harvest a deer by then other wise I am hunting.
-
If you just spray a little windex on each hoof they are good for the day. You should always keep a bottle handy. I thought "the breeze" knew this already
-
Glad you are O.K. and it didn’t end up being another fire hydrant ordeal.
-
I appreciate the dicussions and hope you keep it up. I can't resist poking a little fun

A good shooter can shoot any bow and win. I remember many years when no one could touch PSE because of who they had shooting. They all do the same thing. The shooter is the one that rules but it is fun jerking chains huh? Competition makes everyone better.

I find it funny what Mr. Outdoor Writer stands up for? Any guy that fights to be remembered as the best chef of de javelina hunt must at least have one screw loose??? Every man has to take a stand for something

2003-2006 FIRST PLACE TOURNAMENT RESULTS: HOYT 67 MATTHEWS 35 PSE 6 Yep, I guess someone must rule.

coues7, Sorry I can't make the meeting tonight. The red numbers mean the total number of permits was reduced by this amount compared to last year. The green numbers mean the total number of permits was increased by this amount over last year. Don't be afraid to ask them any questions you want to. They listen, but that doesn't mean anything will necessarily change. Let us know how you thought it went.

BowNut, If you can get hooked up with the superior Bobbyo for a shoot, could I caddy for you? I need a good "got to see this in person" laugh. Don't worry Bobbyo, BowNut can't hit the side of an acorn.

mattys281, Glad to see you want to be involved and are checking things out to be involved. I am also a member of the ADA and believe it is one of the best orgs. we have here in Arizona. May I encourage you to attend the G&F Commission meeting in Phoenix Dec. 9th? I got to see Keith and Amanda at the last meeting I went to. You can learn a lot from going to these meetings and seeing what is going on. You will see the whole spectrum of people who think they are stake holders in Arizona's wildlife. You may see an old man 80 years old that was born in Arizona and hunted here all his life get crapped on by a Commissioner in his/her first year on the Commission. You may see some hot chick that flew in from Kalifornia the day before and has never lived here argue with the Commission for an hour and get all the ears. You may see a presentation from a group that has spent thousands of dollars supporting game management in Arizona for many years have their presentation bashed and put in the circular file in 15 minutes. One of the most interesting ones I went to was back in October of 2004. Taulman sent his little Italian Stalion lawyer out to spank us around. Back then we had a Commissioner that told him where the bear spit in the buckwheat. We have one like that now for one more month or so then the others can take over. One thing I guarantee, you will get surprised. We always get a big surprise at the December meeting. One thing I am pretty sure of is that we will lose hunting by 2027 but I would like my grandkids to experience it before we do. These are only my own observations from my perspective and have nothing to do with the ADA.

Congrats BowNut, sure is purdy. It should get quite a lot of looks from the ladies Just found out today, 31 days after mine was ordered that the build date is going to be 12/7, 38 days after it was ordered. Maybe I should have ordered a blue one

That is what their web site says, try this: http://www.azgfd.gov/artman/publish/article_658.shtml

I think you may be right DesertBull, makes me kinda scared to put that battery in the electronic caller, I may call in a P&Y coyote and never be able to claim the fame

It is just crazy to me that this tread can go on with all the experts making assumptions. We are not basing any posts on facts. We are just responding to what??? The first post said he broke both legs, now we are down to one ankle. No one knows what the facts are and we are all talking out the back side of our glasses.

What do you guys take with you on a hunt? Since I hunt south of Tucson sometimes, I take some stuff with me. Cell phone GPS Mr. Sig Range finder Flashlight and batteries Electronic game caller Binoculars Tripod Water Do you know the electronic caller will disqualify you from entering your animal in some record books? You can have a friend call for you. You can use dogs. You can ride horses or mules. You can use an airplane 48 hours prior to the hunt. I am not complaining, I have a battery in my GPS, phone, range finder and flash light. I would have put a battery in the electronic caller but I didn’t want to weight down my friend, the dogs, mule or the airplane. I don't know why I am responding to this. I guess I like making assumptions. I assume this is not about search and rescue.

Well I guess Chuck and Randy both have excelled in what they do. They both give us examples of how to get better at bowhunting. I kinda feel pretty good about myself right now. I am way better at scaring game than I used to be. No matter how good I am at scaring game, I always work hard to learn how to shoot the bow better every day.
