    Archery Tips

Just wanted to chime in on my vast experience of scaring stuff and being unsuccessful. Each animal and every situation has its own set of circumstances. In my experience from being close (within 25 yards) of a coues, they can hear you breath, they are wired. You never know what they are wired on, if it is noise or movement. I believe they can jump your string much better the closer you are. They can hear you better, and also catch movement. I have shot a couple animals from a little further away...some saw me and was watching me while I shot them but didn't jump. If your bow shot 400 fps, the animal could still jump your string at any yardage. It is a situational thing with many factors involved and I don't have a clue how it works.

    azgfd survey

I would encourage everyone to print out the survey in pdf form from the link I am posting. Write the Department a letter and write out each of your answers in as many words and you want to use. I plan on doing this and I hope the Department gets flooded with written public reponse EXPLAINING their answers. http://www.azodchat.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID...amp;whichpage=2 Scroll down to a post from Delw where he has posted his link to the survey, click on his link and you can access the survey and print it up.

    Scent Eliminator Sprays

Josh E. had a couple of them round scent things in his ground blinds at the Happy Jack shoot. They smelled pretty good and it worked for me.

    Dead On Shooting Tips

That was excellent Bownut, thanks for the link. Isn't this what you want to have your competition watch the night before the big shoot. There head will be spinning noticing all the things they are doing wrong. Since I don't have any tags, I have enough time to work on a lot of things

    My new arrows

Red Rabbit, I have found that they stabilize a broadhead as well as any 4 inch vanes but I have only shot wac-ems, 4 blade muzzys and vortex. I have not shot any large fixed blades. The profile is the same as the 3" vanes I was shooting and no more than your average 4" vane unless you are shooting a low profile vane. Bownut would probably know the exact height of most vanes. The main difference I found is that they are very stiff which probably gives them the control advantage much like feathers, they do not bend to the side. I have not had any clearance problems with them. One added plus is they are quiet. At 300-320 fps a lot of vanes make noise and feathers scream. I think it is a good balance between stiffness control and less weight on the back end to improve FOC. They are only for rests that provide complete clearance as they are very stiff and any contact will have an impact. The only problem I have had with them is I used fast set gel to fletch some and that does't work to good. I have been using goat tuff now and so far it is working.

    horse or mule

desert sheep, When I was about 18 years old, I came out of a few gates looking like that, except I never was good enough to actually advance to the saddle bronc stage. I guess it was a bareback riggin for me back then. I do have a friend that got caught somewhere between a mule and a horse once. Musta been some kind of genetic things. I guess it makes me think we shouldn't fool with nature. Never know when you will create some mule that will put every PRCA's butt in the ground. I guess if there was ever a man that could ride and tame the mule I am thinking of, this story would not have been told. I am just glad my friend is ok now. both of them.
  12. LOL! If any of these internet scientists catch on to our spyware technic, we should at least get royaltys. I can't post my picture cause too many girls want my number. If you guys had of met me before, you would have thought that was funny I hope I will meet bowhunter4life at the BIA banquet. Maybe we all could hook up for lunch at the BHH one of the three days.
  13. One way guys can find other people is to ask someone on this thread if they know the other person. I know Josh E., he knows me, etc... This is a very scientific tracking technic I am developing.

    pro shop

I could tell coues krazy. It is a lot of fun doing this stuff. I hope all the folks that get involved in archery can learn how to make their own arrows, set up their own bow, etc... ITS A BEAUTIFUL THING!!!

Some folks do make their own bows. I know a couple stick bow guys that do. The shoot-through riser on my bow was made by a friend of mine. It's fun messing around with this stuff.

I will be there. Hope I can meet you two. Dave
  20. Check this out folks. http://www.azgfd.gov/outdoor_recreation/roadless.shtml I hope you will attend the meeting in your area. I guess what troubles me most is that our hunting world does not fight these fights. This issue will hurt hunting in Arizona more that any other issue in the last ten years. What troubles me second is that many of the respected leaders of our hunting groups and conservation groups support this idea. Ironically, hunters will have to take the time to sit down and write letters to combat this effort. Almost like the greens and anti?s wrote the prescription. What troubles me third is that our Department has not squashed this already. I will attend the meeting in my area so I can write my letter intelligently. Folks, this is one thing you all have to be involved in. There is no common ground for the groups that support road-less, wilderness and wolves. There are greens among us. Lift up your antennas folks. Any time someone that claims to be a hunter or conservationist sides with the Sierra Club, Center For Biological Diversity, Earth First, Animal Defense League of Arizona, Sky Island Alliance, Defenders of Wildlife or the Humane Society we are in big trouble. All the groups I mentioned are religious about their beliefs and their goal is to end all hunting period. There is no room for us to side with them on any issue. Anyone that thinks so is fooling them selves. First comes road-less, then wilderness, then wolves. I hope you all take this to heart, learn the facts and write the letter.
  21. donnie, It is good to keep an open mind. That is more than I can do. I am 50 now. My pa is 78. We don't have a quad. I can not hike 10 miles a day anymore. I can teach my nephews and nieces how to shoot a bow. I guess we all have the privalage of living in Arizona and making choices about what we do. I guess all the folks that the Department wants to attract will show up shortly.

    Sunrise 3D Shoot

Don't worry about that other course BowNut. I killed most the rocks up there a couple years ago. Heck, last year I didn't see near as many. Good luck my friend.

    Sunrise 3D Shoot

I can't wait for the BHH either. I am sitting third to last in my class. I am going to make a hard run on impoving my position. I will bet BowNuts $20 I can improve my position more than he can his. Well Red Rabbit, I guess that will put me in the money

    Sunrise 3D Shoot

I need to expand my math skills and shoot with BowNut sometime. Holy Smokes.
  25. donnie, I think almost every hunter feels the same way you do about what you just said. I believe the idiots you just mentioned will also find a way around any new rules, signs, or laws. The rules and laws we have now are not enforced. Lets just bulldoze and put a fence in front of every logging or mining road in Arizona and this will solve everything. The same idiots will drive around or cut the fence. We want to grab on to a new idea because we think it will keep the idiot from riding his quad through a meadow picking up sheds in May. I don't think so. I understand that this would in some ways make enforcement easier for the G&F if there are less roads. I don't understand how this in anyway can help game management. Kinda ironic that the United States of America can not solve a small border issue and the state of Arizona will follow suite making new rules that will not be enforced while thousands of illegals cross our borders every day. Heck, if Sky Island and Grihalva can make 36B a wilderness, we won't have to worry about seeing what the wolves eat.
