    11 hours to hunt!

My boss told me a few days before his hunt we only had opening day to fill his tag this past season....work was killing us!!! Then you add the fact we didn't have time to scout this "new" area I had never stepped foot in. The boss and I arrived at the camp spot meeting the others around 2pm the day before the opener. After talking with others camped nearby we made a game plan, set the tents and scouted the last hour of daylight. I glassed up two small bucks at last light one ridge over from camp. With a slight breeze I decided to hike about 3/4 mile north of where I glassed the bucks the nite before. As we walked up the ridge I spotted fresh cat tracks. The little canyon was void of any deer as the Sun came up.. I decided to work down the ridge into the wild and glass all the nooks and crannies as we went. At the far end of the ridge I spotted three bucks and made a game plan. An hour later Bob and I was creeping around the end of the ridge on a steep slope when a nce 3x3 stepped out. Unable to get a good stable rest Bob missed and the buck vanished. We moved around the point and checked for blood and found NONE! We moved a little further trying to locate him only to find three others. Bob and I set up for the shot 285 yards...1 and done! Next year we will have more time to look for a good buck and put another 30-06 round down range! https://www.facebook.com/ExtremeFabrications/videos/997370090429021/?t=18

    Last day success!

Here is the full story on our Javelina hunt this year! With limited time to do anything this year we wasn't able to scout new areas, so I relied on past locations. I knew of four herds that we could hunt. We hunted three locations during the HAM hunt without seeing fresh sign. Bob Deegan and his wife Alex hunted one day seeing lots of sign in an area a friend gave us. Our friend Jake Paugh and I hunted Wed. and got snowed on a total of 2 inches. Although we saw about 40 Mule deer (5 bucks) and 20 Coues deer (3 bucks) we could not find the target we were after. My brother Rick Forrest offered to help glass the last day so we could cover more ground. While both Bob and I are sick we pushed each other to hunt the final day. I hiked 3/4 mile up a hill to glass an area I glassed up pigs before. Bob made it ip the hill 30 min. later after the babysitter arrived. Bob and I was getting blown off the peak 20 min. into glassing when my brother Rick txt me "I got pigs" After a frantic few minutes trying to get Rick on the phone he called and said where he was and to put my butt in gear, the pigs was feeding down into the canyon. Bob and I made it back to the trucks in 13 minutes and sped to Rick. Afrer finding him he briefed me of their location and and made a gameplan. Bob and I made our move and got to the point we discussed, 290 yards....too far! I called an audible and moved across the wash and up the oposite ridge. As we moved in I saw two pigs outa the corner of my eye and we moved on them. 140 yards! I layed down and Bob used Mesquite tree to rest on, we were to shoot simultaneously, but I screwed that up when my elbow slipped off a rock and I touched one off just missing....shoot!..shoot! Bob hit the call and two more came out, I planted mine and Bob's AR missfired, I didn't make sure I completly closed the breach when I charged it. I started calling and and they came hauling butt in. One was 25 yards in the bottom, Bob was getting ready to shoot him when one charged in from our left around a Juniper tree. Bob planted that one at 8ft. and the celebration began. Rick soon joined us and the work started. Didn't go as planed but we are happy with the results and keeping our composure. THANK YOU RICK! #AzExtremeHunting #Extremefabrications #Kingscamo #Badlands
  5. My newest weapon in my hunting arsenal and some of the targets!
  6. I started this spot a few weeks ago and I am pleasantly surprised at the activity thus far!
  7. Just keep in mind when blind/treestand hunting it's not at all uncommon to have a really slow day or two. You have to give a spot at least 3 full days. Minimum. Something with antlers will amble by. Longest I've had to sit before killing something is four days so far. I know some people that have gone longer, but they were waiting for something special and kept letting little ones walk. I'm gonna try really hard to take your advice. I brushed in the same grounder 250 this morning. But I've never hunted from a blind. But I think I've got a good spot scouted so I'm hoping that helps to motivate me to say put and not fall back into my spot and stalk ways....at least the first 4 days lol The buck I shot in Dec. came in around 2:30 pm so sitting all day will be benificial. I know many friends and family have killed mid day.
  8. Nice! Too bad I don't have as many Pine trees to put stands in. I am making some climbing sticks for myself! I do have a couple mountain ranges close enough to place them once i get a spot established! 20689818_872723269560371_2102819789408962041_o.jpg My hunting partner and I were out a couple months ago poking around in our winter area looking for shed and setting up some cameras and I got to looking at a couple of big junipers in a couple spots I usually hunt off the ground. The dang things are big enough to put a fixed position stand in. You can only get 5-8 feet off the ground but there is plenty of cover to conceal you and enough branches you don't even need a ladder. I'm gonna give it a try this January. Sounds like a good plan, I have done that on a Elk hunt years ago. I was about 10" up.

    Trail Camera Bracket Question

What I see so far looks nice but does little to prevent the theft of the entire camera and the box. There needs to be higher security measures taken to keep the criminals at bay.

    A little fishing action

After a last-minute notification of having Memorial Day Off I decided to relax most of the day. Around 3 p.m. an itch started, the only relief in sight was to cast a line in search of a few bass. I cought three Large Mouths and one Bluegill in a few late evening hours.

    AES Hunt for Heros

I took a vet out during the HAM hunt down in 36A with Hunts For Heros. After fighting his truck Chris Cass arrived Friday afternoon at Amanda's lady hunt camping area. We went out during the high winds and found some fresh sign but no pigs. Tyler you are right helping a vet puts a sence pride not felt before, although I was not able to help the rest of the weekend or to find a pig I had a great time. Thank you Amanda for hosting us during your ladies hunt.
