Glad to hear this! I was looking at some of their rifle scopes today and the salesman was saying that they now have a new warranty policy that they will repair/replace any of their optics with a 'no fault, no questions asked warrany' for free. Do you happen to own a rifle scope? If not, what is your opinion of their glass, clarity, etc. Thanks jeff I think their glass is very clear fo a mid-range optic. I use them for the stalking portion of the hunt. No I don't have a rifle scope, I don't hunt with rifles.

I was looking for CWT'ers on our way out. I do remember seeing a fifth-wheel at about that point. I watched all of the CAT Team members go back and forth on the merits of each road and I was surprised that there was a couple of ideas talked about that the FS didn't think of that they might incorporate. It was also comical in the fact they spent 20 minutes to end the meeting with more meetings to come. I will post the date and time of the next one so we can get our point on the record. I am also getting a set of maps from the FS to study so I can better educate myself on what they are planning in unit 33. I was E-mailed yesterday with the details of the next meeting and I would like to get a strong CWT.com presence there to-nite, Yes I know it is short notice but I posted in the campfire forum last nite. Here is the information on where and when. We are looking forward to the continuation of the March 8 discussion tomorrow at our follow up Santa Catalina CAT Meeting on Tuesday, March 13. Sign-in will begin at 5:15 p.m. The location for our follow up Santa Catalina CAT Meeting on Tuesday, March 13 will be the Tucson Interagency Fire Center located at 2646 E. Commerce Place, Tucson, AZ. All of the March 13 meeting will be a CAT Meeting given that the Information Session on the Santa Catalina District was completed at the March 8 workshop.

After an unexpected meeting at the shop, I stopped at the house to get my son. We stopped to get provisions and headed up to the project. As we arrived we could see there was a large amount of work that had already been done. My son and I was eager to get started, it didn't take long to get our hands dirty. You tell me "who is in charge?" My son Mychal or Ben Brochu Project Manager Although my son and I was only able to work for four hours, I can honestly say I will sleep good this week knowing I helped our wildlife. I can also say I am very proud of my son, he worked the entire time without taking a sit down break or asking, "when are we done." In-fact he was kinda upset when I told him we had to head back into Tucson so I could attend the Forest Service meeting on the road adjustments for the Santa Catalina District. Thank you Mychal for the great pics that tell the story. Thank you Amanda for posting this opportunity to help AZGFD.

Considering purchasing my first deer rifle.
Elkhunter1 replied to rivernut's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
A 30.06 is a good gun, but a little much for the smaller coues deer. I killed my first deer this last year with a 150 gr. 30.06 round and it cleaned the deer for me (150 yard shot). Looking back, it was a bit to big. You may consider the .270 Win. for a good deer rifle. Kinda close to the 30.06 in case size, but less in kick. I also took my first javi this last HAM hunt with a pistol, springfield XD 9mm and also around 10 yards. Now that is a blast! I would stay with the 30-06 but drop to the 130 gr. My family has taken dozens of coues, mulies and elk with that round. You have versatility with that caliber, you just need to pick who makes it. A winchester pre-64 actioned rifle is a good medium range gun as well as the newer savage arms line. Having said this I am biased to the Springfield 03-A3 that my dad has, built as a military snipper rifle it will drive tacks at 500 yrds. -
That would be the iceing on the cake for my son and I, just knowing we helped is enough for now.

Amanda and the guys and gals of CWT.com I would like to thank all of you who helped on this project. My son Elkhunter1jr and I worked on it Thursday with a great sense of accomplishment with our chests puffed out with pride. Thanks for the opportunity to help our wildlife.

I have found some county mapping in other posts that give pretty accurate mapping of private lands.

Well maybe April 1st 9:46am

Now that is the best idea I've heard in a long time. We donate time and resources for the water catchments why not to put access roads in.

Unless I hear something special from any of them there just might be Mickey Mouse on my ballot, cause that's all I see from any of them. -
I have learned there can be vehicular restrictions to trust land as well as total closure for various reasons from the protection of utilities to just agreements with lessees restricting access. The vehicular restrictions are supposed to be posted as such. Your buddy wasn't cited probably because it wasn't posted, or the deputy realized he was wrong.

That is a very good question. I will ask AGFD when I get to the catchment project tomorrow. i will also ask Matt at the meeting tomorrow with the Forest Service about the unit 33 road closures.

This was my intention from the start. My dad was The Chief Hunting instructor when I was younger. He always said "if you do things the right way you almost always get what you are working towards!" He also said " even if you don't get what you want, you can still sleep at nite when you go about it the right way!" This man pounded it into his kids heads, do things the legal way not the "BONEHEAD" way. All three of his boys are successful law abiding citizens who love this country and the freedom to hunt and fish. I talked at length this afternoon with the G&F on the specifics of my complaint and was assured they would be out to the area and complete a very through investigation and give the results as soon as possible. Without Amanda's help with this situation I believe I wouldn't have as much response or as much info as I do have. Thanks again Amanda! You are welcome I am always glad to help! Thanks to the AGFD personnel and State Land Dept for being so responsive. And thanks for not cutting the lock Stephen! I had no intention of cutting the locks, contacting the ALD was just the first step in what I was willing to do to gain a resolution, second step was AZGFD then direct contact with EPNG ans KM. There is always a process that needs to be taken to get a proper response to every situation.

OK down here people still get arrested for criminal damage under 250, they might not "GO" to jail but cited and released.

That statement wouldn't apply to a department that enforces the laws of the state. The law is very clear! If you want to go a step further the definition of burglary can be stretched way out of proportion. Are you stating this with experience from a law enforcement perspective?
-
So, it IS a crime for someone to jack with my camera or tree stand even if it is on public property. Thanks for the info. You just have to get the jurisdictional agency to agree with you. Remember fed laws overrule some state laws.

A little while ago I received a call from AZGFD and was advised the agent that works the unit in question would be investigating and getting back to me with the results as soon as the investigation was completed. This response from our state agencies is exactly the response I had hoped for, not the cold shoulder we get from other agencies. This in part is due to Amanda's help in getting this info to the right people. Thanks Amanda!!!
