Congrats Cole great job hanging in there and getting it done, even if Eric wasn't as fast with the camera as you were with the bow.

I recently joined RMEF and they sent me their knife set. It took me several hours to sharpen them to the angle I want in a knife. I got to use them on opening day on my buddies buck. The gut hook worked like a charm and the smaller knife to finish the gutting job. They did a great job. I know I have more knifes than I need. I have two Buck 110s. another Buck straight blade, the RMEF set, my old K-bar hunter, and the first knife my dad gave me for Christmas when I was 11 (good luck charm).

My first scouting trip......
Elkhunter1 replied to naturegirl's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I would say that with the right wind a deer can wind you out past 350 (if you really stink). This time of year the good bucks don't really care about the does, they either are still in bachelor groups or are flying solo. You will always find the small bucks hanging around momma. GOOD luck on your hunt!! -
I have been hunting this land since I was old enough to climb a hill. My buddy has hunted back east in Maine. This is actually his second Coues. I was referring to the first posting on here. My buddy is in th Marine Reserves after active service and last year he said, "this place is rougher than Afghanistan, every thing pokes, bites, or stings you. At least there all there is is rocks!" I replied, "Ya, don't you love, I do." Yes!, he is addicted to chasing Coues.Deer.

If all goes according to my "master plan" than I will be posting another story tomorrow, or maybe bigorange will post it as I will be helping him.

"Pajamaflage" that would be a great line of "Urban Asault Wear"

My buddy John Shaw got his at 6:55 this morning, will post pics as soon as possible.

Unfreaking believable, now that's getting close! Do you think G&F would let us spear pigs, (Javelina)?

There's usually leftover tags depending on the unit and the hunt you want.

Just sitting here putting the final touches on my new RMEF knife set and thinking what my strategies would be for the final scouting day and eventually the opener. Going to repack my pack, then check it again. Its hard to believe just how much prep work goes into a hunt even though it's not your tag! Just happy to get out there. What are you going to do these last hours?

What type of head does it have? Depending on that the price looks good. Pics?

One can't get closer to nature than that! GREAT story, and great lesson to all on what being out in nature is truly all about. CONGRATULATIONS!

Who's ready for Friday Oct. 25th?
Elkhunter1 replied to flatline's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I am in the same boat. I plan hope to have my friends tag filled on Friday, so I can get out and help bigorange with his hunt. Just getting out and away from the city ALWAYS does me good. -

Happy B-day 125coues, azsroops, & bigorange
Elkhunter1 replied to tjhunt2's topic in Birthday Wishes!
Happy Birthday all, sit, relax and have great day. Bradley I guess with the new cook book the kids are counting on you getting one this year. If you don't capitalize on it during rifle that puts me in the hot seat with you to get it done during Dec. -
Another case of good people needing help and finding it in other hunters
