    Antelope Hunt

I went out for opening weekend of my 19A Antelope hunt and man was it an adventure. Saw an absolute ton of Antelope. I had previously sat out a blind and Thursday we watched it all day with not one animal coming in. I spent the whole hunt spot and stalk and man was it fun. Opening morning I got between a buck and his does and got an 80 yard shot about 3 inches high. That afternoon I had another buck spot me and run straight at me from about 300 yards. He stopped at sixty and bolted when I drew. Saturday morning I belly crawled to within 69 yards of a real nice buck bedded. I waited 30 minutes for him to stand and even got to range him, drew and shoot 1 inch low. Stalked another buck an hour later got to 80 yards and got busted. Yesterday evening I was using the decoy and stalked up to 3 bucks and a doe. I was 150 yards and could not get any closer as the doe had me. All of the sudden two of the bucks started fighting and the bigger one won the fight. Well after the fight he decided to chase the doe. They ran a complete circle around me at about 50 mph getting to within 20 yards and stopping out at what I thought was 65 yards. I let one fly and he was actually 58 yards. 1 inch high. I had an unbelievable first weekend and walked my butt off, if I could judge distance and shoot that would have made it better but I guess that is bow hunting. I will keep you posted if I get to go back.

    Favorite Coues Taxidermist?

Mogollon is my favorite too. He matched my coues deer with ear kicked back and all to the photo before the shot. In two weeks I will have my mulie, eastern whitie and coues all on the same wall. I will post when it is complete.

    Antelope Hunt

Good luck on your hunt hopefully you will tag a big ole goat. I did not see one snake in all the miles I walked and crawled. I was thinking about them the whole time and I'm sure my little girlie scream would have been heard all the way to Prescott Valley if I had.

    Antelope Hunt

That is where we parked every morning was off of the powerline road. I would hunt from there to as far as 4 miles to the west and then go north and south. There is definetly more cover up in that area. I agree with most fun and frustrating hunts big time.

    Antelope Hunt

Thanks, it was a great time and a great learning experience. I had a friend of mine glassing for me so that helped out tremendously. I hope to go back and get another chance.

    Antelope Hunt

I don't know what kind of bow you are shooting but 7 yard difference is that big of a miss and that is it. Especially at longer distances. If you haven't notice on your bow the farther you go down on your pins the farther they are apart. Second at 70 yards your pin takes up a lot of the animal and you would definetly miss by at 8 inches with a seven yard difference. I am so glad we have matlock the bow detective on here figuring out and spoiling everyones hunt stories. This makes me want to delete this post and never report a hunt again. Thanks for being an a##h###.

Yes I am a big fan of the site as well. The CWT.com sticker is one of the only stickers I have ever put on a truck. Thanks for letting me be apart of it. Look forward to it in the furture.

    Happy B-day Firstcoues

Happy Birthday man. I bet I know what you wished for.
  23. I recieved this email today about some green groups trying to sew the FWS for putting in man made waterholes in the Kofa National Wildlife Refuge. I have hunted the Kofas a lot and the animal situation is terrible. The drought has had a huge effect on the population of game in the area. Along with predators as well. Along with the email I heard from our club treasure YVR&GC that if they kill anymore collared lions they will also start litigation. This is crazy, here we are out there spending our money, some peoples time and hard work to help the game population and the greenies are there to try and help wipe out our game. Anyway if I keep going on I will start cussing and loose all sense. Here is the email that I recieved, Dear Arizona SCI Members: We need your help immediately! SCI's Litigation Department has become aware of a new lawsuit that two wilderness groups recently brought in federal court in Arizona. The lawsuit challenges important bighorn sheep conservation efforts. The two groups have sued to challenge the FWS's installation of artificial water developments in wilderness areas in Kofa National Wildlife Refuge. The two water developments were installed on the refuge by the Arizona Department of Game and Fish with the help of the Yuma Valley Rod and Gun Club and others to help alleviate the drought conditions that are having an impact on the bighorn sheep in Kofa. In order for SCI to participate in a case, we need a few members who can help us tell the court how the lawsuit affects their interests. For example, we are looking for SCI members who have hunted bighorn sheep on the refuge in the past, and/or individuals who have concrete plans to hunt bighorn sheep on the refuge in the future. We are also looking for members who are involved with bighorn sheep conservation, including those who may have participated in water development projects on the refuge. We would also be interested in hearing from members who visit the refuge for other reasons, and enjoy the presence of bighorn sheep, even if they are not able to hunt them. We will ask members who have had such experiences to help us to draft a declaration describing their SCI membership, hunting experiences, and interest and involvement in sheep hunting and conservation on Kofa NWR. A declaration is a legal document that is essentially a sworn statement. We will use the declarations that we receive from members to help us to assert SCI's interests if and when we decide to try to intervene in the lawsuit to defend against the wilderness groups' challenge. If you have been involved in any of the activities described above, please contact us immediately. Thank you. Anna M. This is unbelievable!

There is motor vehicle travel allowed on the designated roads. I am not sure if these two tanks are located on these roads. There are also a lot of tanks that are located 2-3 miles off of the roads. I guess everything will have to be brought in by helicopter. Wait the helicopter prop may disturb the sand. Oh well I guess we will just let everything die.
