Welcome back my friend. You need to post the picture of those daggers on that elk you took last week . -
My hunting set up is a 7MM Dakota 168 grain Berger VLD @ 2,900 fps. I use 72 grains of Hogden Retumbo powder and Federal 215 primers. I have a Leupold Mark 4 with Kenton turrets on it. I would take my set up to hunt any North American Game animal. Watching the show Best of the West got me interested in the Bergers. Those boys have taken tons of the toughest game in North America with a regular 7MM with 168 VLD. I have not been let down yet.

Clay does almost all of my work too and you may just be acustomed to his great work. I went to Colorado last year and had a muley mounted and thought it was crap when I got it, but I gave it a while and now it hangs above the fire place at the cabin. It was no where near as good as clay but it still looks pretty good.

Clay @ Mogollon Taxidermy gets some awesome elk capes from Montana. I had to buy one for my mount and it is a perfect cape.

I know exactly where that is. My friend killed a buck with his bow off that waterhole a few years back.

The only place I know they are illegal is on the Kofa Wildlife Refuge. I think it is specific to just the Kofa Refuge and no others.

I have had two factory loads with bad primers in the past. I have only had one in my reloads. -
The BDC does work very well. I have the Nikon Omega with BDC and it is a great scope for thee money.

He is still on his archery elk hunt. He said he was prepared to stay until Saturday. We need to save some nice things to say until then . I know he still looks at the sight. He is the one that is taking care of the tag that I am selling. -

He is on a archery elk hunt. He is a great guy and I talk to and see him a lot. He has not said one bad word about the forum or anybody on it and that shows pretty good integrity if you ask me. I hope he does come back and post some more. I will have to talk to him about it next time I see him. -
I have that pack and love it. Last year I carried a gun and a half of a whitetail out with it and it was great.
-
Yes it is still available. I will send a PM.
-
Me too!

Thanks coues sniper and Amanda for the input. If anyone has any questions I will give you the email to the guy selling the tags. Amanda, I am really pumped and greatful for the R100 tag. I have already started getting the 7 Dakota ready with some new VLD Bergers and a new scope. I have been talking to Randy up there and the horn growth is pretty good this year. Hopefully I will have a good buck for the contest.

I took my daughter and two of her friends and their dads out dove hunting Saturday and Sunday. Those kids had a blast. They were getting all of our birds and I got out the .410 and 22 for them to shoot. They were all between 4 and 5 so when they would shoot the .410 we would throw a dead bird up in the air when they shot and they thought they were laying the smack down on those birds. If you have not done it yet get those kids out there whether it is your kids or the neighbors they will remember those times forever.

I have a tag that I cannot use. I have already put a deposit on it and I will give you the deposit. It will cost $1,150 for the tag and lodging. The only thing you have to pay for is the gun permit. Scoutem hunted this ranch last year. It is 60 miles south of Sassabee. I will give you an email to the guy in charge of the hunts. I will get you all the info. Anyone else interested let me know. Here is a link to a hunt from last year on the ranch. Not a real high density but really good bucks.http://forums.coueswhitetail.com/forums/in...?showtopic=8141 The hunt is for the second week in January. I can get you photos of the ranch and some deer killed there. The reason I am not going is because I was given an R100 tag on the San Carlos and I can not pass it up.

Way to go, freakin toad buck.

What an awesome find. A very unique set of antlers and an arrowhead I would say that was a pretty good day.

Jim I shoot accubonds through my .280 and 270 WSM. I have seen elk, antelope and deer go down with them and have never once been anything but completly satisfied. Great ballistics, weight rentention and controlled expansion. With a .308 180 grain accubond you should be good for anything in North America. Especially shooting .3's.

On the bright side if you don't get one you can always hunt the desert down here in Dec., Jan. Glad to see you on the site. Hope everything is well.
