Strangest thing that has ever came into your call???
matthewp45 replied to lionhunter's topic in Predator Hunting and Trapping
Nothing too crazy. Javelina, wild dogs, deer, wild horses, rabbits and humans. -
That buck is absolutely beautiful. That picture of him in the velvet is gorgeous. You should take that pic to the taxidermist and tell him to make him look exactly like it. Congrats.

** BENELLI Super Black Eagle I** camoflauge, mercury recoil reducer
matthewp45 replied to hoghntr's topic in Classified Ads
Who ever buys this shotgun will love it forever. I have the eagle II and it is a very impressive machine. I have shot cases and cases of shells through it with out cleaning it and never had a jam or any problems. Of course I clean it really well from time to time but I bet you could shoot 5,000 rounds through it with out a single problem. Looks in great shape too. -
Man that sure was a great story. I know exactly how great it feels to watch your kids enjoy the whole hunting adventure with you. I just got back from my HAM hunt and both my kids got to enjoy it with me. Man that is such a great idea putting them in your packs. You guys sure seem like great dads. Congrats on an ultra successful hunt. Here is a pic with my boy and I after I killed my pig. Both kids were there afterwords and they really enjoyed the heck out of it. They still can't stop talking about it. My little girl is 6 and she keeps saying 4 more years daddy until I can kill my own. I can't wait until that day. (The second pig is my bro-inlaw"s)

Congrats those are some beautiful cats.

Probably stick to the lower half of the state and pick some country that is open enough to glass. A good place to start is the game and fish website. They have each unit broken down and tell you where the best places are for Muleys. I know its public info and not secret spots but there are not that many archers out hunting as say a rifle hunt so the spots they have on there website can be really productive. When you pick the unit you want call the WM as well.

Looks like a great time. I can't wait for some summer time night fishing to get here either. keep us posted on all your adventures.

Neck sizing vs Full Length resizing
matthewp45 replied to luvdemcoues's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I only use the full length resizers and have never had any problems with accuracy at all. When you set the die just make sure it is set to resize to the bottom of the neck and not down on the shoulder. It is easy to tell by the ring left by the resizing oil. -
If you can find a woodpecker in distress or I think they call it a red shafted flicker. It sounds crazy but where there has been a lot of rabbit in distress calls used and the coyotes are call shy this will work great.

Any pics?

3 Weeks In Coues Heaven.......
matthewp45 replied to COOSEFAN's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Mexico
I wanna come too Jim. I will fight Christian for the spot. I will open a can of whoop a@# on Chrissy and take his spot. Man you guys sure did a great job. Looks like there are some freakin hogs down there. -
You are a very lucky man. I lost my dad to cystic fibrosis when I was 8 years old. I am 31 now and I still remember every hunting and fishing trip with him. The time a father and child spend together in th outdoors is some of the most important and memorable times we have on this earth. I have a daughter and a son that are 6 and 3. We just got back from our HAM hunt and they say they can't wait until next year. I hope I am as lucky as you and get to hunt and fish with them until I am physically unable too and have to turn in my rifle for a camp cook apron. Sounds like you have a ton more hunts ahead with your dad, I just hope he cooks well for your sake.

Well we made it back from another family javelina hunt and filled 2 out of 3 tags in camp. I arrived Thursday about 1pm and went out looking around and found a lot of fresh sign in an area we had seen pigs in the past. So my brother in law and I headed to the area opening morning. I set up the ole 15's and about 10 minutes later I glassed a big herd of about 20 javelina only 300 yards away. My brother in law Ben has never killed a big game animal, so we grabbed the gear and headed out. We got to about 140 yards and I decided it was close enough for the smoke pole. I tried to get Ben to shoot first but he wouldn't so I told him to be ready because if I killed mine I would reload and get the gun to him. I set up and touch off on the trigger and hammered the pig but it was a little low so I reloaded and he had come down a little closer to 100 yards and I put one right in his shoulder and he went down right where he stood. There were still 3 pigs left on the hill side so I reloaded one more time and handed Ben the gun. He was in an akward position but he took the shot. The pigs just stood there for a second and I had know idea where he hit. Then all the sudden the biggest one just fell over dead. So we had both of our pigs with in the first hour of opening morning. My dad was the other tag holder and didn't arrive until that afternoon or we would have probably filled all three right there. Hope you enjoy the pics. I really like my brother in laws camo I am thinking of getting some just like it (and the sun glasses too ) .

Yeah ole Jake listens to Boy George and George Micheal. Not only because he rocks out to their music but he also shares the same sexual preference as they do. Come on Jake the wife and three kids aren't fooling any one any more just come out of the closet and be free my friend. I don't listen to Miley I like good ole Led Zeplin, Jimmy Hendrix and George Strait.

Hope he gets well soon!

What a great stroy to go along with one of the greatest looking bucks ever killed. That buck that you friend Mark killed is a hog as well. I was so glad to read you are doing a full body mount, that thing is going to look unbelievable. Congrats to both of you guys you worked your tails off and it sure paid off 100 fold. Can't wait to see a picture of that life size standing in your living room.

Yesterday was the day of death.
matthewp45 replied to motoxno53's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Man that is no good. What did the deer die from? Hopefully not poachers. Any pics? (of the deer). -
Man you deserve that buck big time. You guys hunted the entire hunt and passed some monster bucks. It is going to be hard to top that but I know you guys will be trying. I know you are hooked on the rez now. I am sure there will be plenty of pictures every year of you with some more booners. I owe you big time for finding my bullets. I hope to see you again up hunting. Good luck on the years to come. It was nice meeting you too.

Nothing like goose stew. Cooked right it is great. My wife is from Louisiana and she makes a duck gumbo that is out of this world. Man I need to go kill some now it is sounding pretty good.

Great buck Ian I think that picture needs to go up for best field photo. Lets keep the focus on Ian's unbelievable buck. There is plenty of room for other threads. Congrats again on a beautiful buck. You guys did great!

Oh my god that buck is an absolute toad. A very big congrats to a great young hunter. What a great trophy and from what I hear it will go well with the two monster bulls he has already killed. What a way to start off his coues/bow hunting career. Next January maybe we can get him down here to kill a monster desert muley. Let me know if he would be interested.

Dewey was hired to show them a spot that had another big buck in it. When Dewey took them to his spot this bad boy stepped out. Every one involved deserves huge credit for such an unbelievable buck. That thing is a buck of a thousand lifetimes. I sure hope Brandon gets a life size mount of that awesome thing. I wanna see that thing face to face. I hope one day I can at least see a buck in that category on the hoof.

In Yuma we ended up over 3.5" in 2 days. It was pretty consistant in all 3 of our valleys around here all being right at or slightly over 3.5". We got our yearly average rain fall in 2 days. Boy did we need it. It will be interesting to see what it does to the mule deer rut here in the desert. There has not really been any rut yet which is very wierd for our deer down here. Hopefully it will kick them into high gear.
