elkhunter replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
Good video, my dad will be happy to find out he made the video this year -
did not see the kill shot but I did see the buck
-
I need to get married incase my swaros get busted up
-
most of us started killin rabbits before legal age of 10 and most folks started big game at the legal age of 10, gotta start early or years of fun is wasted
-
Agree with Ndaniels, my sister shot them for a while and the blades seem thin and fragile and would bend or chip while shooting at a brand new foam block, it also got bent the heck out of it when my sister shot her javelina through a rib bone..but granted they did fly good. I see alot of positive reviews on Shuttle T's, often wonder if my sister has bad luck with em

Working here in Alaska with Salmon and watching those sitka blacktail deer and grizzly got me bored (sorry GRONG), I done looked at all the pages of coues buck in the photo gallery...however I know there's a bunch of bucks that aren't on the photo gallery and I know ya'll got lots of bucks. So post all the pictures of coues bucks you guys have gotten, from AZ, NM or mexico...lets see em all, pics of kids, wife, husband, friends, family with their coues buck, post away and get that fire started for this fall season.

Hm here's a right antler that looks alot like the one you want to find the matching side for, both antlers have that flatten royal and long 3's but ther's no kicker off of this shed in the picture The royals look the same here The shed in the picture is from a set, the other side wasn't as big as the one in the picture...I believe this set is from the early 90's...is it possible its the same bull?

I agree, ft huachuca is full of animals and some folks complain there's too much hunting. Those are some nice bears, I've seen 2 bears in 35A and both were solid black not light brown color. Good pics, thanks.

You were out where I was born and raised, good looking pictures.

elkhunter replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Def going to be on a north facing slope glassing the south facing slope before the sun comes up, once the sun is up, I switch slopes, hope to beat our family record of seeing 23 bucks on an Oct hunt this year -
Birthdays!!!
elkhunter replied to azcouesandelk's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Thanks! firstboozewas80proof- it's not your birthday so I would stick with the lable "great people" I'm enjoying work in Alaska, been flying in a bush plane to different hatcheries and working with all sorts of Salmon, they'll be running soon..and that's when the real work begins. Tonight i'll be in Sitka getting drunk with local fishermen and off to work again Sunday, I sure do miss Arizona. -
Hey congrats Ryan, that's a nice looking bird...take care

I know there's alot of negatives about the draw only archery tag....lets look at the positive Have you guys seen the kind of bucks that are killed during archery seasons? I worked at AZGFD this past summer and during the archery season...a huge majority of bucks brought in were spikes. Hardly anything bigger than a forkhorn came in. I'm going to assume that the archery draw will create an older class of bucks for the following years to come, that'll help out the buck age class in 7

I had a friend on a float tube at one of the bass lakes north of phx, a rattler was swimming in the lake and was coming towards him, thinking that he was "land' and he said he swatted at the thing with his fly rod and use his flippers to get it to go away, finally the snake turned away They're coming out, I've had some real close encounters lately and I'm deaf so it gets quite scary when I think I'm coming up to one soon

prolly another 2 weeks

making a pipe from an antler?
elkhunter replied to SilentButDeadly's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
All I know is that it stinks to high heck when you use a drill bit on any bone-structure from an animal, but i am sure it can be done with proper equipment -
My very first big game, both my dad and I got javelina (it was not his first big game) My first coues deer- I was clueless on how to hunt coues deer, the year before that hunt, me and my dad hunted 4 days and saw only 1 coues doe and we shared binoculars, then I got a dec tag, hunted 11 days straight and finally got a shot off at one of the bucks in the area, alot was learned on this hunt, 83inch This hunt because prior to the hunt I believed that 100' bucks never existed, coues deer could only be as big as 83inch, finally coughed up the cash and bought fine optics and it showed me a whole new world, it was one of those hunt where that feeling hit me hard and knocked the breath out of me, when I first got this buck I was estatic because i thought he would score 85 to make my biggest buck to date, the tape said different, at 102'.... My most recent coues buck, mainly because I finally had a coues tag that wasn't a december tag but instead an October tag and many people said that I would "finally" kill a small buck, but hard work and patience paid off and brought home my biggest buck to date a 109er Most importantly my father was on every single hunt I've been on, so I would post all big game hunts with him but there is just not enough space on here

it was probably down low, near that waste production area with no trees, no grass...I've seen monster bucks and bulls there

Is this our next president?
elkhunter replied to azpackhorse's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
I agree, not too happy with the canidates for the upcoming election....the future ain't bright, the next 4 years is gonna be a bummer -
I second for 27, never been to the burros tho, but I don't see how the burrows could be equal or better than 27, in 27 you could either get a whopper of a buck or nothing, I have never seen a spike or forkhorn in 27 but bucks in 80range or larger, their sheds are allover too up high and down low.
