Moved into a new house, want to explore the pro's and con's of both. Course HD is an option, don't need the whole 325 channels like they offered on some of the packages. My biggest observation is there is no contract with cox while there is a contract with direct tv. Other than that it comes down to pricing, services and quality of tv? Any advice?

I used to post alot on here and I became a lurker instead of posting. Anyways This past hunt was a hard one, my initial spot had 32 hunters on opening morning. Guess someone killed a 140 buck there and word got out and everyone showed up there. Over the 3 days I was able to spot 16 bucks and all of em were pretty small, not what I was going for. We saw a shooter on Friday and he looked to be about a 150 incher but upon closer look he had a tree branch in his antlers and we figgured him to be a 95 incher. Fast forward 2 days, on Sunday I went to the same spot, hiked up higher to shooting range at first light and found what i think is the same buck, he was pushing does (shoving his nose up their butts and all) lost him for about 5 minutes, during that 5 minutes trying to find him again I was able to spot 5 other bucks but knowing there was a big buck on the hill I passed them all up. 5 minutes later i was able to glass up the same does and they had moved a good 600 yards along the saddle and the big buck was with them, I set the rifle up and gave range, I gave the buck one warning shot and my daddy called it (hes the best spotter I know) and I made adjustments for the steep angle and nailed him, daddy said the buck wheeled up and then hobbled behind a tree and never came out. He stayed back while I went up to verify I killed the buck, there was a small 75 incher rolling with this buck and I jumped him at 15 yards which was a great sign, small bucks dont know what to do when their leader (bigger buck) is dead. I got to the spot where I shot the buck and he was 8 feet away dead, I screamed so loud and did my happy dance. After we cleaned the buck up and hiked 3 hours downhill back to the truck, we met the nicest hunters. These guys were bout a mile away and they heard a scream and glassed up the mountain and saw me dancing, they knew I killed a big buck and they drove up the road and waited 2 hours just to see the buck I killed. They congratulated me and were the nicest people I have ever met in the hills. The buck surprised me, scored 101 and change. He's going on the wall folks. Can someone flip the images for me? I suck at photos and technology

I'm a teacher too, had a student this morning say that penguins are amphibians because they live on land and water.

They move around more during winter months because they have to feed more, plant leaves and branches are either dead or dormant therefore have less nutritional value, on top of that daylight hours are shorter. Secondly its much colder so its better to move around to warm up the body than lay down. Like humans, some people get cold easy and some don't. Coues are the same way, some coues don't need to be warmed up by the sun and some do. Some may move up the mountains and some may not. Theres never a 100% answer for coues.

Look for tracks, thats the most solid evidence you can find that they are in the area. Next step is try to figure out how to glass them up. Once you glass them up you can begin your stalk. Its okay to drive 90 miles in the unit in a single day trying to cut tracks.

Becker- I've looked into Kelty and used to own one when I was a kid. Thats the route I'm taking if I can't get a good deal on an outdoorsman, like you said it was made by backpackers.

Packing my buck out this past weekend my backpack strap broke, after repairs I had 6 more straps break (sun damage). I don't carry much when hunting, just water, tripod, 15's and some food but load up the pack when I harvest. What are some backpacks that are light with several straps and can carry a heavy load when needed? I live in a small town away from big cities so I don't have the luxury of going to Cabela or sportsman warehouse to try out packs

My friend who is a first time hunter- she got hit on her CC for javelina, on the portal it shows no information, not even her application. And when checking BP/Draw results her SSN and Birthdate are wrong, can't access any information- is this a common thing with new hunters?

Perfect size rifle, I had one in 243 and sold it to cramerhunts, his daughter knocked down a giant desert muley bout 300 yards, she was 10 years old at the time and small framed. Can't beat the 700 action, more options to improve the rifle there
