To bad you weren't wearing a gopro, that would have been great to watch. Interesting how similar it is to the bear skull, I might have guessed a bear cub if I was looking at them side by side. You would think the front of the skulls would come to more of a point in seeing them and looking at the picture from your tailgate.

I like Russell Buckley in Panguitch, Utah (435-676-2759). Panguitch is a little over an hour north of Fredonia up Hwy 89. -
LaCortis (928) 643-6126. My dad took his antelope from 13A there and he did a good job. He was recommended by the unit manager. Had a clean shop with lots of options for sausage and jerky.

The Kee kee is most easily made on the Chiricahua Gould call. Also I have customers that buy the point sublime because they like the way it kee kee's.

Gobbler yelps are deeper and slower yelps and are best made on a long box call or on a mouth call. Kee kee's are high pitched whistle like sounds followed by one or two yelp notes and are best made on a mouth call.

Here is a picture of the call I just finished for the NWTF banquet in Sierra Vista this Saturday. The call is made with Arizona Walnut grown in southern Arizona. The calling surface is aluminum and the striker is mesquite. I won't be able to make it but for anyone thinking about going it should be a great banquet, they will even have the NWTF state Turkey tag drawn at the banquet. Hope they pull my card.

If you do see birds while out and about and know of a water hole nearby check it out and look for sign. Mornings and evenings seem to usually be the times they like to water most but I have seen them water a few times in the middle of the afternoon. A good plan for you might be to sit water in the morning and evenings and cover ground in the afternoon. They will also most likely roost not to far from the water. As far as calling them in off the roost in the morning the hole flock will roost in the same tree and will talk to each other before fly down but are all within sight and there will not be as much assembly calling and waiting to go to the toms as there is in the spring. If you know where the roost is it is best to force a fly down in different directions and call them back together (easiest way to get a good split on the flock is off the roost). As far as calling goes just use assembly yelps and kee kee runs after a split. Wait about 4 or 5 minutes after a split not far from the split and start calling. A lot of times a boss hen will not come to other hen yelps but will almost always come to the kee kee of a young lost turkey.

Be more mobile and cover as much land as you can. The big toms are not breeding and calling like they are in the spring. First you need to figure out what type of bird you are willing to take (tom, Jake or hen) then come up with a plan. You can sit water and wait for whatever type of bird you are looking for (best way to hunt the big toms). Turkeys do come to water more in the fall than in the spring. If you are wanting to do more interactive hunting like calling the best way is to find a flock, split them up and call them back in but it only works with hens and jakes. Personally I like calling and have taken quite a few jakes in the fall using this method.

+1 for HAM radio's. You can pick up a decent unit for under $100 and is much more powerful. Only down side is like stated above it is federally regulated and you are supposed to have a license to operate. To get licensed you just have to pass an exam.

It all depends on where I am going lake or stream but here are some that I always try to have on hand. Drys would be Ants #16, Mosquito #18 and Simulator #14 Nymphs and streamers would be zebra midges tied thin on size #18, S.S.leach #10-12 and peacock lady #14

Will someone post or PM me the link to the data for the sheep taken in last years 2015 hunt. I tried finding it on the game and fish website for a while and couldn’t find it. I also looked on ADBSS website but they only have 2014 and earlier. Thanks. -
I had the opportunity to harvest my first Eastern turkey this past Tuesday in Eastern Kansas. What made the trip even better was my dad was able to get his first Eastern the next day on Wednesday evening. Mine was my largest bird I have taken, 1 5/8" spurs 10 1/2" beard 23 pounds. My Dad's bird was just a little smaller with 1 1/4" spurs 9 3/4" beard and 21 pounds. I am still on my way home and will post more pictures after I get home.

There are plenty of places in AZ to catch lots of Apache trout both on and off the res if you target them, in both streams and lakes. I have caught to many to count. Like Big Browns I like catching brown trout and since they spawn at different times of the year I have no problem with them inhabiting the same water. Rainbows are a different story and should not occupy the same streams as apache trout. Tiger trout cant reproduce so they should technically be able to stock them anywhere. If you have never caught a tiger before you are in for a treat. They fight harder than any other trout I have ever caught. Hopefully a few will be able to survive a few years to grow larger than the 10" to 12" stocking size. Here is a picture of one of many I caught in Utah a few years ago.

I am heading to eastern Kansas and will be hunting Turkey next week. Cant wait, thanks for posting.

The flyer you saw was for the youth camp and stated that the special youth hunt in 23 is by draw only and is not over the counter for the youth only hunts. From the spring regs the over the counter archery hunt is open for a bearded turkey May 6 - May 19, 2016 in units 1, 4A, 4B, 6A, 12A, 23, and 27. Also like Bonecollector stated the fall regulations containing turkey are not out yet.

Turkey Hunting and Calling Seminar Friday April 8th 6PM at Mesa Sportsman's
Little Creek Calls posted a topic in Turkeys!
I will be doing another turkey hunting and turkey calling seminar again this spring. For those who haven’t attended my seminars in the past there will be general turkey hunting tips and strategies. There will also be breakout trainings with hands on call use training. Since I have done box call breakout training the past two years and have received several request, this year I will be a doing a mouth call training. There will also be a pot call training (slate, aluminum, copper, glass and crystal). Each person in attendance will receive a free mouth call along with instruction and training and get to use and practice with several types of calls. All calls for the training will be supplied by me. Calls will be available for purchase after the training. There will also be a question and answer time so if you have any questions or are looking for help in a particular unit there will be several experienced turkey hunters willing to help. This seminar will be free of charge with no registration required, just show up the day of the seminar. There will be some door prizes given out to those in attendance provided by Sportsman's Warehouse. I look forward to teaching these seminars each year and helping others improve their turkey hunting and calling skills. I hope to meet some of you there. Thursday April 7th Friday April 8th 2016, 6:00PM – 8PM at the Mesa, Arizona Sportsman’s Warehouse -
