Talk about being messed up. I am right handed and right eye dominant but shoot rifles left handed. I don't know why just always shot that way ever since I could pick up a gun. I have tried teaching myself to shoot right handed but just revert back to left handed due to just being more comfortable.

I drew a late 36c tag. Looking forward to learning a new unit as I never stepped foot in that country.

Good road, just expect to be stuck behind some geezer going 45 mph.

I love his shows but that Buffalo hunt episode should be about as exciting as watching grass grow. Nothing more exciting than watching a guy sit in a blind watching a pile a salt day after day. I enjoyed his Mexican Buffalo hunt.

You should of worked for a discount since it was a "Mr." Heather.

Bloody Decks is a great So Cal fishing site that would give you more than enough info on the subject. Us Sea of Cortez fisherman have a different fishery and our reels are typically set up differently than the charter boas out of So Cal. There a bit of a fun but hard core group over on BD.

Fishing from bottom in that area is very difficult as it is rocky and your weight will hang up 90% of the time. I am not familiar with the castabubbles so they may work. Trigger, bass and small grouper hang at the bottom. The occasional corvina hangs up higher by they seem harder to find nowadays. There are now smaller barracuda and there is always sierra mackerel. If your line gets cut off after a strike, that was what did it. Kastmasters or any type of metal spoons work well and that is what I typically use. Anywhere from 1/2 oz to 1 oz. Bring a lot as you can lose a bunch, especially from shore. Also what works for bass here can very much work there so bring your plastics and jig heads. What I have enjoyed over the last several years is taking my float tube out. That gets me away from shore and you do not lose nearly as many lures. The current moves you around a bit so an anchor helps but I have enjoying that as much as taking my boat out for the bigger species. Much cheaper as well with the price of Mexican gas. Regarding a panga, just head towards the harbor and you will find plenty of people next to their boats offering trips. Have fun!

Garage doors insulated / non insulated? Gauge ? Etc .
Kelney replied to Eagle mountain ranch's topic in The Campfire
Go insulated and do not think twice otherwise. I have had both and the difference was amazing with a south facing garage. -
I have a Bradley smoker. They use those wood pucks. I smoked quite a bit of meat in it. I pretty much stopped using it since I bought my pellet grill. I am happy to give my old Bradley away. It looks a little rough with the door a bit jacked up but it works. I live in West Chandler if anyone is interested in it.

I have tried it with no success.

I just got back from Waters Edge myself on Saturday and had a great time as well. Across the sound at Cape Spencer in front of the light house we did real well on the halibut. I see you had boat 11. We had boat 5 until the motor grenaded and then we were given boat 2.

I have had one for about a month now. Love it so far. It can bake, smoke and grill to a certain extent all with a nice smoky flavor. I actually just did some vegetables and chicken breasts tonight and my wife told me to stop grilling them on my old grill as these came out great. I am still learning the nuances of it but love it so far. My only negative is that it sees to go through pellets a little quick but that has been for my long smokes. I believe is the exact grill made by Camp Chef but just rebadged with a Cabela's label with a much better warranty. If you are serious about buying one, make sure they have it in stock or order it online and have it delivered to the store. I made a trip there and they said they were sold out but luckily they had just received a shipment that day so they appear to be popular.

Congratulations and nice story. To bad they are shoving guides down our throats on the bear hunts but sounds like you made the best of it.

I see that the M.U.L.E could actually be very popular with the actual mules. I anticipate running into a few south of I-8 in the upcoming years.

I have dropped more elk with my black powder gun than all my other weapons combined. I have also settled on the Precision Rifle Dead Center bullet with Blackhorn 209 powder. The loose powder lets you fine tune the rifle with varying amounts of powder. Good luck on your hunt.

I use spectra on all my Sea of Cortez outfits and have had no problems. My heavier outfits I use 100 to 130 lb. braid with roller guides and the rest are standard guides of 65 to 40 lb. I find spectra so much better for bottom fishing as I can feel the bottom with that line. Also I believe the smaller diameter of line works better with the extreme tidal action. Only thing that has been marked up has been my thumb when a fish jumps on my bait with the drag not set.

Way to get it done! Any boat or trailer malfunctions this trip? I have not had the opportunity to splash my boat in the SOC since last June.

Although not cheap, I always thought the quality of the Bear hunting on the SC was good enough to make the price reasonable. I agree that the rule will change soon when 50% of the Fall and 80% of the Spring Bear tags go unsold due to this unnecessary expense. Me and a family member was considering buying a tag this year but will not if they go through with this ridiculous idea.

PP - Thanks for the heads up on the bino tether. I will be ordering that tonight.
-
I have a love hate relationship with mine. I love the pockets for easy accessibility to items. It is well made and protects the binos. What I hate is that the binoculars are not tethered to the harness. So if you fail to buckle the top and bend down to get something, your $1000+ binos fall out and nose dive into the dirt, The buckle on mine also requires two hands to close the case which leads to me sometimes failing to close it which results in my binoculars hitting the dirt when I bend over. I have actually lost my binoculars a few times and had to retrace my tracks to find them.

Rollercoaster Elk (Squirrel & Coyote too) Hunt
Kelney replied to lancetkenyon's topic in Elk Hunting
I was waiting to hear your report. Nice write up and I can see why it took some time. -
I had that tag a few years back and tagged out on the buck on my avatar. This year I had the general hunt and after 4 days of glassing and hunting hard, I never saw a single deer....

I kinda like it myself. Love to see how they got it up here. But hey, I guess I have not lived in the city long enough for the conversion. Looks like he needs to borrow the squeegee though.

I love my Eberlestock but when I broke a buckle I confused their warranty with my Badland's pack warranty. Only thing Eberlestock sent me was a link to where I could purchase one.

I shoot a .54 Remington 700 MLS. I am a big fan of the Precision Rifle Dead Center bullets as well behind Buckhorn 209.
