I think what is funny about this is, that any one of us could sit for hours and not touch a fishing pole, glass for days for a trophy, or some even pass on the same deer for several years to let it grow up, but here we all are waiting for draw results like little kids on Christmas eve. Right now I have my computer on in my truck all day and I am checking azgfd about every hour, then I check here. Would a burn area with very little cover hurt the coues deer, I would think that if there was a deer in a large burn area with very little if any cover that only a rifle hunter would have a chance at it, I don't think many people could make a stalk across wide open ground to get to it with a bow, I think even a lion would have trouble covering a lot of wide open ground to get to it. I think that the fringe areas of a burn would be where they would get ambushed. I think that would not last for long though because as soon as the grass and shrubs are high enough to conceal a lion the deer are in trouble. Just a thought, but I doubt the deer look at it like that.

My uncle caught this fish over the weekend, I guess this is one way to wait for deer season. What sucks is I turned them down and didn't go. They made sure to stop by my house and let me know what I missed out on. I figured some of you would enjoy this fish.

Ernesto the only reason I had asked about illegals was if I were trying to sneak into the U.S. and a flash from a camera hits me it would make me wonder what the heck is going on. As hunters we know what a trail cam is and would not be concerned about being tracked, but I doubt that most of the people coming from mexico know what a trail cam is, and in the areas that I plan on putting the cameras there is a lot of traffic headed north and I thought it would make somebody very nervous if there picture is taken. I am planning on buying and using some trail cams and I have a couple of simple questions. 1. what are the chances of my camera being stolen, I am asking this because I most likely will be setting them up in 35a within a reasonable distance of the border and I am thinking that there is a very high possibility of taking pictures of illegals near water, and if there picture is taken what are the odds of the camera being taken or broken. 2. If you are scouting/ hunting etc. and you have your picyure taken by somebody elses camera do you just leave and do nothing, I have read some posts on here about people coming into the same spot and having their picture taken more than once, I would not come back if I knew somebody else was hunting that spot, but if you had your picture taken and then at a later date something happened to the camera and set-up you would be suspect #1, should you maybe leave a note at the camera with name saying you didn't know it was there and you won't be back. The reason I state that is because when you hunt a particular area you tend to run into the same people and I would hate for them to think I did something to their stuff, if I had left my name and a small note at least they would know it wasn't me or they would know I was the stupidest vandal out there. I haven't used one so chances are you might not even know if your picture was taken and then it all becomes irrelevant.

That is his son in law holding the fish, they said it weighed 55lbs. the funny thing is in the years fishing with them they have caught a few that were bigger than that, and quite a few around that size. It's the first time I have gotten pictures though, thank god for digital cameras. My biggest fish was a 23lbs channel cat at alamo lake. good luck and God bless

I can't agree more, a coues with a bow, I'm calling, i'm e-mailing pictures, I'm giving them the link to this website where I post my story. One can always dream I guess. That cracked me up couesdiehard.

Both my brothers have switched to carbons, but I have kept the aluminums. I tried the carbons and did not like them, maybe I will take some of these suggestions and try again. I was shooting my bow every day up until about a month ago ( shoulder problem), I will hopefully be able to start again soon, I shoot an older Pro-Line at 65lbs and I have shot that for last 16 years or so. Ok now that I just about needed a calculator to figure out how old my bow is maybe I need to upgrade.

They extended the dead line again, and they can keep extending it in 24 hour increments until the 14th. I wonder if a quota hasn't been met and they are trying to allow for more apps., I will be curious to see if they have more or less than last year. Not that I care how many people put in because we are all getting drawn, right Ernesto.

Don't even think that, that would suck. I don't know why they extended it, but I would hope that if there was a problem with the apps. that are already submitted they would notify those people and allow more than one day for those individuals if it was azgfd's fault.

I wish they still had to be mailed in, but I will use the internet also. I agree it would eliminate a lot of people that are not as serious. It would also eliminate most out of state hunters and antis. I think they should maybe reward the locals, allow only residents who have had a hunting license for at least five years, and non-residents with at least five bonus points to apply online, all others should have to apply by mail only. One more thing they should require the hunters safety course to apply as well.

Last year I put in for the Oct. hunt in 35A as my first choice. This year I am thinking maybe it might be my second choice. I put in with my brother so I just need to check with him. I am thinking about unit 21, it is closest to my house and I can spend a lot of time scouting. It has been three years in a row I have been drawn, two years ago 35A was my fifth choice and last year it was my first, that is what started me on the coues, now I just need to get one. Ernesto I can't even begin to imagine what would have happened, my wife hates snakes, she said while she was driving my son, who was three when the picture was taken kept asking her to get the snake, but she thought he was talking about a toy, she did get the kids out with the snake there.

This wasn't a rattler, but you couldn't tell my wife and kids that, she stopped at Cirkle K and when she got out the snake came out of the door frame, she didn't see it until she started to open the back door to get the kids, a guy in the car next to her seen it and shut the door on it, needless to say she got the kids out from the other side, the fire department was called by the cashier, they opened the door and seen it wasn't a rattler and released it, my wife made me check all our cars and my oldest daughter would not get in a car until I checked it over, this was about a year ago. I am just glad it wasn't a rattle snake.
