    Silly Question

I agree they are both great deer, but I like the coues better. I have never put in for any of the hunts north of the Colorado river, but my first coues hunt was my fifth choice, and now they are my first. I was in Minnesota and Wisconsin a few months ago and there were more deer dead on the roads than you usually see in a couple of days here, so I know what deer are stupid.

    Montana bear test

Maybe Amanda could put a group of coues and mule deer photos that look real similar and have a test instead of a guess the score contest, muley or coues, high score wins. I got a hundred percent my first try to, my sister had me take the test after she got 5 right, I thought you guys would like it.

    Montana bear test

Ernesto, I passed to, but I don't think that makes us bear hunters. Then again with all these kids playing hunting games I am sure they think it is a piece of cake, and all they need is a license and a gun or bow.
  7. Sorry to hear about that Ernesto, but no one got hurt so there is always next year. Good Luck and God Bless.

    USO: Lawyer letter to AZGF

I still think we could hire our own lawyer as hunters looking out for our rights. This guy is in it for money, we have alot of people on this forum from out of state that put in on their own hoping they can hunt here every so often, the way I see it now is the self guided non-resident will be the number one victim, all residents will be the other victims, the rich out of state hunters and their guides will benefit. All residents of all western states will suffer, states that have mostly private land will continue to suck. We as a state have a resource that belongs to our state and it is being taken from us, were will it end, azgfd could say since we aren't allowed to manage it as we see fit we are not going to manage it at all, bring on the feds, and let them have control, and that would be the end of states rights. At what point do we need to buy are federal hunting license and put in for any species we want all over the country with the only penalty being where you have to travel to, and no that is not a good thing, a resident of a state should have the benefit of being able to hunt there.

Congrats on the deer, and the little one on the way. I have three 5-4-2, I couldn't be happier.

    USO: Lawyer letter to AZGF

Could a group of hunters get together and hire their own lawyers, I think every hunter in the west has a vested interest in how this plays out.

    Rude hunters

I don't use a quad, but I can see their usefulness, its the people who are running up and down roads on the sport quads or who take them any where they will fit, I was with my brother elk hunting this year and had two lifted golf carts and a quad drive by me at about ten yards, I didn't much care about that because we were at a water hole and there was a trail, but they got to the water hole and talked for a while then took off up into the hill behind me between pine trees and where ever they could get them, then they started back down the hill, they went between me and my brother, but were within about two yards of me, I actually bugled with them right there, the driver of the first golf cart stopped and told the rest of the group to listen to the elk, that was when I cracked up, the lady that was right next to me almost fell out of the cart, then they decided to tell me were all the elk were. They never seen my brother. I am sure hunters are the ones that get blamed for the quads, but I have seen alot of people just out riding in areas where we are hunting, I don't think it is smart on their part, but they don't care, we hunt and they ride, my problem is they could be riding at the dunes or somewhere where hunters aren't. I try to help anybody when I am hunting, we have spent hours trying to pull someone out who was stuck, or giving somebody a ride into town that had car trouble, or fixing the car myself, those are things that we don't have to do, but I think it was the right thing to do, and if I lose an hour or two that I could be hunting, hopefully if I ever need help someone will return the favor. I will also try to steer people that I talk to in the right direction, if I can help someone else get a deer, elk, etc. I will tell them where I have seen them, or get them in the general area if I am not going to be in there or if I am not hunting what they are hunting. I seen this year that people were parking across roads kind of blocking access to certain areas, now that kind of ticked me off, these roads led into huge areas and I am sure that more than a few people could have been back there and never seen each other. Good Hunting and God Bless
  13. Rembrandt, That was a great post, and it was followed by several others that have said about everything there is to say, but I will say that the information and tips that you guys and Amanda have given on this site has been invaluable, hopefully we can all learn from each other, and yes I know there are no deer in 23, there are also no coues in 21 I don't care what pictures Josh has been posting. CHD, I am glad you are getting over what you had, I was sick and missed a week of work before my hunt, and probably should have missed another week, but I talked myself into going hunting and I paid for it. I think it sucks to be sick when you can be hunting, and if your to sick to hunt, you probably were close to death. Amanda, Keep up the great work on this site, thank goodness for these guys and there stories and pictures, as for me maybe this year I'll get my first coues.
