Neat finds while roaming the hills

Feral Hog may be hunted during other big game seasons, with a valid hunting license and valid big game tag for the season. No bag limit, but scarce. A Special Use Permit is required to hunt coyotes and skunk and may be obtained at headquarters. Permits are available for April and May only. All other plants and animals are protected. http://www.fws.gov/southwest/refuges/arizo...es/hunting.html -

Seen the fee proposals for 2006?
KGAINES replied to DesertBull's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
az4life the football crack was a low blow , I one of the few fans, but we have funded all of our sports teams stadiums some not even voted for, so they should be able to give some of our tax dollars to game and fish, I thought the lottery and taxes contributed to the heritage fund which is supposed to go to game and fish. -
Congratulations Garth

Seen the fee proposals for 2006?
KGAINES replied to DesertBull's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I come up with 67.00 for a license and deer tag, on the proposed fee 32.25 for the license and 34.75 for the tag. The class A tags are more for deer and elk, but no more than 5% are class A. The class F youth combo license is still 25.50, 54.00 for the res. class F for us. -
Why take kids hunting?
KGAINES replied to stanley's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I took my five year old out for the first time this weekend deer hunting, we hiked in saturday afternoon about a mile and a half, I carried the backpack and anything he might need, we were at our furthest point from camp when he asks whe are we going back, we took a little break and started to head toward camp, we came around a little turn in the trail and a doe was about twenty yards away, me and him took a knee and I started to look around for any other deer, apparently he had scanned it a lot quicker than me, after about a minute he says in a loud whisper I thought we were looking for daddy deer, where is the daddy deer, thats the mommy deer, where is the daddy deer, the doe took off and kept looking back, but it was funny, the concept of a mommy deer with no daddy deer had him baffled. I am looking forward to many years of this, with my son and daughters hopefully. -

Diamondbackaz, I have to agree with some of what you said, a trip to laughlin or vegas, and hunting sounds awful cheap compared to that, my wife doesn't hunt so that is what me and her try to do at least once a year. A trip to disneyland or sea world with your kids, hunting is still cheap compared to that, I know you don't do that every year, but it is something a family might save to do. No matter how you look at it doing anything these days as a family is expensive, and it isn't going to change. Do they still have the youth hunting and fishing license available, is the archery deer tag still going to be good in august and december, we have options that are still better than most states. I also have to say that I am definately not rich, it may cost a little more, but I will still have fun, and continue to hunt. Golf is waaaaaay overpriced, they should let you fish in the lakes and hunt the course for the prices they are charging now. -
Congrats to your dad, very nice buck.

Congrats to you and your dad Casey, thanks for the story, I still want to see pics of the monster.

Like crotalus mentioned the bee is the only one that would leave a stinger unless you smacked it when it stung, but then you would have seen the scorpion, spiders do not leave anything when they bite, if it was a scorp and you smacked it that could explain the bruise, I have been stung three time by scorpions, striped tail and desert hairy, never had a bruise but I did have a finger that stayed numb for over a month when it hit me picking up a fishing pole, the first time I was stung I was sleeping on the river bank and felt something crawling up my leg, reached down and got stung on the rear, had my clothes off and a lantern lit to see what it was, found the scorpion and killed it, and then heard the group on the other side of the river laughing as I had done my dance and tore my clothes off, I was about 15, that one only hurt for a few minutes. Like everyone else had said if it gets worse or just doesn't seem to get better, go to a doctor.

Unit 17A, I am going back up this weekend and taking my son to tag along, my brother will be scouting for elk this weekend so it will be me and him. Whether I get anything or not this will be his first time out with me on a deer hunt so I just hope he has fun. I also wanted to thank some people up there for helping us out, we had three flat tires, one blew out, and then just after talking with a warden we ran over something sharp and both left side tires went flat, a couple gave me a ride to camp 12 miles away and I went back and proceeded to air the tires up and drive, air them up and drive, air them up and drive, and then another group of hunters had some plugs and fixed us up to get it back to camp. Three flats in less than half an hour and the tires were very good as far as tread goes.
