Haven't fished Saguaro, but I am sure there are a few here that will help out. What I can tell you that we do is take your baitfish and hook it through the back but toward the tail so that it will swim around while submerged, from dark until light we put them on the bottom, in a lake you can use egg sinkers, but you can use whatever sinkers you need to put the bait on the bottom. Then it pretty much becomes a waiting game, if you are on a boat make sure your pole is secured. If you are on the river I like spots with deep pools where there isn't a lot of current, bends, big rocks, especially close to cliffs, and get the bait out there and wait. There are usually a few of us and we try several baits live and dead to see what might be working, if you like to keep relatively busy put a pole out there with live bait and another with chicken liver, if the channel cats are biting I have had great luck with that, shrimp works, better if it has been out in the sun for a while, stink baits, worms, but for the flatheads, my preference is a baitfish, waterdogs, and worms work as well. I wonder if AZGFD did stock the stripers or were they illegally stocked, I don't think they are connected to the CAP anywhere. Kind of like the reports of smallies in Pleasant, could be the CAP or illegal stocking.

Sorry about the loss to your Family Casey. Take care and God Bless you and the rest of your Family. -
Might have been a yellow bass. I don't think they have stripers in there yet, but I could be wrong. Sounds like you had a blast, the small bluegill are great catfish bait.

I am almost positivthat a .22 magnum is a rimfire, but even so it says that the .22 mag. and the 5mm can be used for turkey and javelina, there is no check mark for any other big game animals. Maybe you are thinking of a wildcat cartridge or the 22-250. I don't own one so if someone does could you help us out with this. Take care LegalMethodsofTake.pdf The chart above is outdated and wrong, look in the current regulations for the correct list. Pretty much only shotguns shooting shot and archery equipment may be used for turkey, and no rimfires for big game except javelina. Check regulations to be sure.

You can't use a .22 mag. for deer, only javelina and turkey.

I have received several responses through the mail, most are better than this one in the support of the second amendment. Why should the Supreme Court, Congress, or the President need to be reminded about the Second Amendment. It pisses me off that the SECOND FREAKING AMENDMENT needs to be fought for over and over, it was the second one, even if you got bored and only read a few of them I am sure that would have been one of the ones you read. -

Dear Mr. Gaines, Thank you for sharing your concerns with me about H.R. 45, the Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009. I appreciate hearing from you on this important issue. I agree with you that we need to ensure that responsible, law-abiding citizens retain their ability to exercise their Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms. If enacted, H.R. 45, the Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009, would prohibit a person from possessing a firearm unless they hold the proper firearm license. The transfer of a firearm would not be allowed unless the recipient presents a valid firearms license and the dealer uses a tracking authorization number for record keeping purposes. H.R. 45 was introduced on January 6, 2009 by Rep. Bobby Rush of Illinois, and is currently pending before the House Committee on the Judiciary. Please be assured that I will keep your views in mind should H.R. 45 come to the House floor for a vote. Additionally, you may know that last year I joined 249 of my colleagues in the House and 55 Senators in sending an amicus brief to the Supreme Court reminding the Court of the importance of Second Amendment rights in the case of District of Columbia v. Heller. In this case, several D.C. residents challenged the District's 1976 law banning handguns and requiring rifles and shotguns to be registered, stored unloaded, and either locked or disassembled. I believed the ban was unconstitutional, and I am pleased that the Supreme Court agreed, on June 26, 2008, when it issued its decision. In addition, in the 110th Congress, I cosponsored H.R. 6691, the Second Amendment Enforcement Act. The bill aimed to restore the right of self-defense in the home and authorize residents of the District of Columbia to purchase guns. H.R. 6691 was introduced by Representative Travis Childers of Mississippi on July 31, 2008 and referred to the House Committees on Judiciary and Oversight and Government Reform. On September 17, 2008, H.R. 6691was incorporated into H.R. 6842, the National Capital Security and Safety Act, which was approved the House by a vote of 266 - 152. You will be pleased to know that I voted for the bill. Again, thank you for taking the time to write to me about this issue. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future if you have additional comments or concerns. Dang I wanted to know what load Lark thought you should shoot out of the 7mm-08. Good luck on your wifes hunt.

It looks like you got some good advice on where to start, I never go over 120 grains with mine, and it is a .54. Shoot the heck out of it and you will probably find it works best around 100 grains, you can also go to the cva website and send them your question on max loads. Good Luck and have fun.

What is the barrel length, is it a magnum barrel, what is the caliber? I am not real sure I will be able to help you out, but that info might help come up with some answers.

Miss Sally Edwards is a highly esteemed third grade teacher at Clark County Elementary School. In an effort to prepare her students for the all-important TAKS test, she compiled an exam consisting of 20 questions, which she administered to her class last Tuesday. The exam purposely covered a broad array of topics. I call your attention to question # 11, which simply read: LIST, IN ANY ORDER, THE FOUR SEASONS: 1. ________ 2. ________ 3.________ 4. ________ Now, could you possibly imagine that 67% of the students gave the following answer? 1. DOVE SEASON 2. DEER SEASON 3. DUCK SEASON 4. TURKEY SEASON God Bless Mississippi

Everything I have heard from the AZGFD is that they are very happy with the hunter success surveys they already have and do not want to change, funny that they did it for archery (maybe just to regulate more). Bill I wasn't around and hunting much prior to the eighties and don't know what hunter numbers were then or even in the nineties, and maybe thats why on some hunts now it seems really crowded to me. Heck I heard stories about Coues deer when I was younger, but nobody ever hunted them that I knew. Now they are offering four rifle hunts for coues, not counting the muzzleloader hunts and the archery seasons. Your best guess how have the numbers of hunters changed in your lifetime. Thank you Bill for the Knowledge you bring to us, I am still learning on this and want to do whatever it takes so that my kids and their kids still have the opportunity to hunt in their lives. Take care and God Bless
-
Bill you may be completely correct, but what I see happening is that the numbers are skewed the wrong way. I think succesful hunters are more likely to report with the mail in survays sent out, the people that don't kill an animal throw theirs in the trash in larger numbers, I could be wrong.

I agree Doug, great deal. -
Looks like a chow or a chow mix to me. Wait if it is a mix it could be one of the mexican gray wolf mixes, is the camera in their part of the state.
-
This has been brought up to AZGFD before, and the explanation given is that they don't need to do that yet because they have sufficient returns from the mail out surveys. I think mandatory reporting is a good thing, but I also think it has to be done with an on-line option, where it will show your hunter number updated as soon as it is done. I also think an option would be that if they show you haven't done it in the allotted time frame, and you have no proof that you did it, you can fill out one prior to the draw for a five or ten dollar fee.

I received a phone call from Senator Kyl's office today, and I was told that I would be receiving an answer to my questions on this bill soon. I hope the answer isn't run for the hills we are all screwed. -
Good story Rembrant. I do wonder why it was colder in North Dakota than in the arctic circle though. Maybe a number 4, No matter how bad you think it is where you are; it could be worse where you are headed.
