AZGFD Hunt Recommendations
KGAINES replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Here is the agenda for the azgfd meeting. http://www.azgfd.gov/pdfs/inside_azgfd/age.../April20-21.pdf -
Isn't it 10% for all units combined and not on a per unit basis, I am just guessing, but I thought I read that somewhere. Also as for the draw the way it was explained to me is that for every bonus point you have you get another ping pong ball in the hopper sort of, so if you have ten points you have ten chances and if you only have one point you have one chance, they throw them in and draw, if the one gets drawn he gets the tag.

AZGFD Hunt Recommendations
KGAINES replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Jim Thank you for your time. I have to say I see no reason to overlap these seasons, most people apply for these archery elk tags thinking of them as a unique hunt for elk in the rut, now they will have to compete for watering holes with turkey and deer hunters, not to mention the fact that there will be more people in the field diminishing the hunts a whole. I am beginning to feel like the azgfd does whatever they want no matter what the cost to the individual, and yes I talk to a lot of people that don't ever check any websites and they don't agree with it either. Just to keep it simple, the statement that perception is reality can definately be used here, what I see as a hunter is the reality. When I go to a commission meeting and see the commissioners blow off the sportsmens groups I really wonder why these groups keep supporting tha dept and their projects, these groups bend over backwards for the azgfd to only get stepped on when it matters. The azgfd wants these groups to spend money to prove what they think is right before they will listen to them, and sometimes that don't even work. These groups represent a lot of hunters and even more than representing hunters they represent and have in their groups the people that do the work on these projects and volounteer their time to help the azgfd, and the perception is that they are not listened to by the commissioners. When these groups do a survey it is thrown away as not scientific or does not relay the feelings of the majority, when we all know that it does, and again the perception to me and others is that the commission don't care what these groups think and that disheartens me the most. -
AZGFD Hunt Recommendations
KGAINES replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
http://webmail.aol.com/25045/aol/en-us/Mai...urveyReport.pdf You guys and gals this survey should in no way be able to dictate the way our game is managed, it might help in the hunt structures, but not in the management. Even though we know they paid very little attention to the ADA survey, they use their own surveys to set up hunt structures because that is what the public wants, the last time I checked I was part of the public, and I am in no way a trophy hunter and I disagree with a lot of their recommendations. -
AZGFD Hunt Recommendations
KGAINES replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
Thanks Amanda I was waiting for you to post this. I think we need to get a large group together and all show up at the meeting and let them know how each of us feel, they have shown in the past they really don't care what an organization is thinking unless it is to their benefit. There are some in the azgfd and the commission that are on our side, but they don't seem to like a single person representing us all, we all need to get up there even if it is to only say we are supporting the ADA, the MDF, the AES, the ABA, the RMEF, etc..., if we show up in numbers we will show unity and a resolve to at least keep what we have, but it is not out of the realm for us to get a little more of what we might want. on the other side of this if we as hunters are outnumbered by the animal defense whatever and the peta people it does not bode well for us now or in the future. -
Arizona Deer Association Banquet
KGAINES replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I had a great time at the banquet as well, met a few people from the site as well. "What I have heard on the rack now is that the poacher was on the phone with someone at the show and was bidding that way. A very wealthy man had heard this and refused to let that happen so he kept bidding to make sure that the poacher would not get the rack back. I think that we owe this gentleman some respect from keeping the rack out of a poachers hands!!!" If that is true then there should be a way that it is against the law for that person to ever possess it again, no matter how they aquire it. -
Here is the link to Casey's story, but he might tell it to you again just because he can. http://forums.coueswhitetail.com/forums/in...c=2901&st=0

Well if what you say is correct then when hillary or obama is president, gas prices will be 50 cents a gallon, or they will give us all electric cars, the unemployment rate will be minimal, the border issues will just go away because there will be no restrictions on who can come into the country, we won't be bombed again because al quaida and all the other terrorists will be pardoned. I mean Bush asked to be bombed and all those people that died in those towers are Bush's and the Republicans fault, and since no democrats voted for the war, they might even bring charges up on that too, we were threatening and intimidating and they had to use self defense, and we might as well charge Bush for the murder of saddam, we should even charge the military with kidnapping of him. Lets not forget to charge all the soldiers with abuse at Guantanamo, and the other installations that are holding these prisoners. I bet in the future the conversations at these questionings will go like this Soldier- are you a terrorist terrorist- no Soldier-are you sure, you were shooting in the direction of U.S. troops a few were even killed, the bullets even came from your gun, and the soldiers that caught you sure said it was you, even though the cnn reporter and cameraman said they weren't sure and it could have been any number of terrorist that were shooting, though the reporter stated that the troops enticed you into shooting because they had the unmitigated gall to wear U.S. military uniforms while patrolling. terrorist-nope wasn't me Soldier- ok you can go home, and don't forget the C4 and your ak when you leave terrorist- no problem, thanks, tell hillary osama says thanks That is the extreme, but these guys are terrorist and should be treated as such, and there shouldn't be a reporter or cameraman any where outside of bases. If the democrats and I have to bite my tongue when I say this since there really aren't any more true democrats, there are liberals, and they have taken over that party and select their candidates accordingly, but if they were to have it their way every penny we have would be split up and divided equally among us, we would all live in the same houses and drive the same cars, and no it don't matter if you work or not they would take care of us all the same, check it out there aren't no rich democrats they give all their money to the poor and the needy. Its funny our country was so great when clinton was president, everything was perfect, according to the media he was the greatest president the U.S. has ever had, though some argue that kennedy was better I mean he had Marilyn and clinton had monica. Like I have said before Our President is just a man, and he has dealt with a lot more during his term than some other presidents have and no he didn't ask for all of them, but he is just a man and dealt with them as he sees fit, but he has also had the backing of the house and senate, plus the military and believe it or not some democrats even voted for it, funny too since a lot of them passed or were no shows for other votes, but made sure they were there for this one, simply because they had the same info as the president and if he was right they would have got the credit too, but if he was wrong he was a liar and the were misled. I can say this because I am an individual with an opinion who lives in the United States of America, the greatest country on earth, and you can say what you want because you live in the same country with the same rights as me. God Bless us All I can say that too, except in school where liberals have determined that believing in God misconstrues and undermines what they are teaching in science about evolution. Love your thoughts J, keep them up, we can't all be the same.

There are ways to speak out and be respectful, he didn't say stay quiet or get shot, stay quiet or go to jail. dang I guess if people don't all have the same opinion we should just shut up, the left is trying to eliminate individualism they want every one the same, let us give you health care, let us give you welfare, let us raise your kids, that pisses me off. To single out Bush is funny, when we invaded Iraq the senate and the house were behind him, the majority of the public was also behind him as well, there comes a time when sanctions don't work and they all knew it, but only one person has to live with that decision all the others can claim they were persuaded or lied to, but they all knew, they now are looking to blame someone and the president is the likely choice. What happens when we elect a new president, if the country elects hillary does that mean all of a sudden all the generals and admirals are now smarter, that doesn't change, a few advisor's and high ranking officials might change positions, but every thing below stays the same they don't replace the whole military, but with hillary as president the french will be our allies again and the u.n. can tell us how to be better, heck they might even appoint some of their people to run our military for us. We will not know the results of what happened during this administration for years and years, so until we are old we probably won't know his status as the worst president ever, which I don't agree with, but hey with the way this country is going I could be wrong, I am sure that when they rewrite the constitution in the future they will all laugh at what they deem as the idiots that wrote the first one and they will wonder how we were able to make it all these years without a total societal collapse. And as I have said before these are just my opinions, you can feel free to post yours, and when you do thank all the soldiers that are and have fought for this country to allow you and me to do this without being thrown in jail or shot. Live Free or Die

This isn't coues related, but I haven't had a bruise like this since I tore a hamstring, or while I was kickboxing. This is why you try to avoid yard work, rototiller got away and kicked back, the handle bar hit me in the arm.
-
COOSEFAN you are exactly right, that thought went through my head for about one second, I didn't even show her until I was almost done with the yard. ARIZONA GUIDE I will be at the banquet on Saturday, and all the easter stuff for the kids on Sunday so I won't be watching them either.
-
Congratulations again Casey, it looks very cool.

Need an antler fix?
KGAINES replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
That was Great Amanda, it was put together perfectly. -
Amanda I kickboxed for about five years, I did more teaching and cornering than I did fighting, but we did spar heavy every other night so we would always be in fighting condition that way when we we were in the ring there were no surprises, but most of those bruises were on my legs.

Now, this one is funny!
KGAINES replied to COOSEFAN's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
That is hilarious. I say unless the lady penguin has a coke in that purse this could get bad. On one hand you have this. On the other hand you have this. Hope this doesn't offend, thanks for the post Jim. -
Dude stole my name, I knew I should have picked Keith G. instead of kgaines.

We all like to say that if I was President I would do this or I would do that, but none of us are and none of us can. What do you do, you did what you did in Iraq and have been criticized since day one, why would you do it again in Darfur. We can never let the u.n. run our military which is what hillary would allow, because no matter what they say all of those countries are jealous of what we have accomplished in ours, we are the greatest country in the world and they all know it and resent it. The easiest thing for them to do is criticize our country and our leader simply because we do not share their socialistic views; we succeed in a country made up from a people all over the world, and no matter how you look at it our support of Israel annoys them. I am glad that we have the ability to have these discussions in our country and that we can each express our opinions openly, the president whoever that may be will never be able to take that away. Thank goodness for the forward thinking men who wrote the Constitution and had the beliefs in our nation in its infancy, somehow they knew how great we as a people were going to be. Jamaro as far as women voting for hillary just because she is a woman, in on sense I believe as az4life that yes she will get votes, but I hate to say this; my mom is a democrat born and raised and she has said many times there is no way she would ever vote for her, she thought bill was great, maybe they feel that hillary betrayed their hero who knows and who cares as long as she don’t get the vote. As far as attacking hillary verbally, she opens her mouth as much as anyone, the media just don’t jump on her like they do everyone else. Maybe she can get rosie to be her running mate, she seems to be in the spotlight lately. God bless the U.S. and our Troops

Being President must be an easy job, I mean anyone can do it. All you have to do is kiss everyones tail and you are great, make a hard decision and be crucified. A bunch of terrorist attack the country, we should have let the u.n. and the sanctions take care of it, Iraq too I mean if the idiot running that country would have got his hands on a nuke he would never have used them (Thank goodness his neck is a few inches longer than it used to be), the u.n. would have told him not to and he always listened to them. heck a freaking hurricane hit and everyone blames the president, he isn't God, he is just a man with more responsibility than anyone else in the world and it don't matter who is in that position there will be good and bad decisions and no one will know the true measure of what they do unless you happen to be in that position. Putting troops in harms way has been happening since before George Washington and even then he was criticized, so was Lincoln, so were they all. The problem is that now there are reporters and cameras everywhere and all the blame falls on one man's shoulders. No one who doesn't like him should stress out too much because he will not be the next president, but I hope whoever it is they have as much respect for our country and the military as he does.

If you was a real man you would run her car right in front of it and just drive over it. My wife doeesn't read this, or that picture would look familiar.

I also think the reason the deer are suffering is the high number of permits being issued, particulary doe permits. I think it's great for the youth hunters to get out and hunt, but I don't think it's more important than deer management. Every year I always check the regulations to see how many doe permits are being issued. Lately I've been satisfied that the doe permits are on a major decline. I was surprised last year when they listened to the ADA and the MDF on limiting doe permits, the commissioners told the azgfd to change them to buck permits and spread them to other youth hunts. I know the success ratio might go down for the kids, but the deer on the kaibab will benefit from this.

Crazy Pets
KGAINES replied to Coues 'n' Sheep's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
We have had raccons for pets, my uncle had a fox that lived with them for years, acted just like a cat, I will see if I can find any pictures, but I think most of them were destroyed when my grandmothers house burnt down years ago. We could not wear any red around the raccoons or they would tear you up, the fox was as tame as could be and was raised with a cat maybe thats why it acted as it did, but slowly it wandered from the house, until you would only see him about once a week. The fox lived and was raised just behind where the peoria sports complex is now. The squirrel is great, the pictures are very cool. -
This isn't a rattler but it is a pretty cool video. rabbit vs snake

I agree with you on this one Lark. In the beginning the pro wolf people are going to say anything they can to get some hunters on their side, plus they already have the animal rights groups. They use charts and graphs to show how the wolves will not impact hunting or wildlife except in a good way. Now when the wolf goals are met and the numbers reach the levels they initially predicted, they want more, they say there are plenty of deer and elk for them to eat, the hunters don't need to hunt, but the wolves do to survive. Plus like you have said before, when they start acting like wolves and take easy prey like cattle, they get shot, if they show any signs of sickness they trap and kill them, then release more in the same area.
