G&F opposes Constitutional right to hunt
KGAINES replied to DesertBull's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Out of the 50 states where do you guys think AZGFD would rank, while I have issues with them I would still rank them better than most. -
I thought the UofA called their 6 footers wildcats not rattlers, and the last I heard they paid them a lot more than 250.00, but if 250.00 is what they are paying now, that would explain their record this year in basketball.

FEB 12 Application deadline for elk and antelope tags
KGAINES replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I believe numbers were down. I think that is what was stated at the ADA meeting, I do know that they are trying to get the online process back up by the end of 2008. I checked the minutes, but it didn't mention this years numbers, and I wasn't there for the full February meeting, just the beginning and that is where I might have heard it, but those minutes will not be up until later this month. -
G&F opposes Constitutional right to hunt
KGAINES replied to DesertBull's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I am trying to find more info on this, there was a meeting earlier this month with both groups expressing their point of views on this bill. This is part of the message I got on the meeting it was on Feb. 26th. Mr. Todd Rathner of the NRA, Rep. Jerry Weiers, and Commission Chairman Bill McLean. They will be their to discuss both positions on HCR 2037. I didn't go and don't know who did, maybe someone can let us all know. -

FEB 12 Application deadline for elk and antelope tags
KGAINES replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
The only consolation I got with mine being cashed was that it meant that I didn't forget to sign the check, Or after Lark (.270) was screaming my name at them they didn't just tear it up. -
I hope your friend gets his gun back. If the police arrest these people why can't they charge them with armed robbery, they are involved in a crime with a weapon involved, and secondly if someone would happen to catch them doing this I believe lethal force would be acceptable since they would be holding a weapon, if a few of these thugs and crackheads were shot it might stop a few.

Coues Buck Contest
KGAINES replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
You guys have done a great job with the contest every year and have great some great new ideas. I haven't entered the contest because I really don't care about what a deer scores, some of you do and that's great. I would probably enter with some of the new ideas mentioned, and would definately enter my kids when they are old enough. Amanda as far as the hunt stories being voted on, you could do it just about any way and it would work out great. One other Idea is to let every one who is registered vote and then take the top three and have some of the writers pick the best one, Outdoor writer, Bill Quimby, Chris Denham, You and maybe a couple more that I don't know. Again Great Job on the contests and I look forward to this years. -
Amanda I just wanted to thank you for the use of this website and the free classified ads you have allowed me to run, a donation was sent to you for that purpose. Thanks again Keith Gaines

salt and feed no more in 2009

KGAINES replied to wardsoutfitters's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
You guys know they will release the draw results the day after they ask for public comments, at that point everyone will be preoccupied to respond. I have let it known how I feel on this and will stand by that to the end. I do wonder how many other state agencies will let you talk to a person as close to the situation as Leonard, we might disagree with him and the department on a lot of issues, but he is usually available, and will answer a phone call. We also have a few wildlife managers that willl respond to questions on this website, I am not saying that they are right, but there is a link to the department. Good luck to everyone in the draw, and I will see you guys and gals hopefully at the Dept. Meeting. -
Lark you ain't kidding I went in there and was trying to get a tag and when they seen my name they started yelling at me, they told me to keep my great great granddad out of here, said they knew that because we had the same name, asked me how a senile old man like that was allowed be out of the rest home like that.

More D I have a Dillon and it works great, I have had it for about a year and a half. I went to the Dillon store and bought the entire set up and they ran me through the process on a machine that was there. It is the only reloader I have ever used so I have no comparison, I like it though. http://www.dillonprecision.com/#/retail_store.html

salt and feed no more in 2009
KGAINES replied to wardsoutfitters's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
You know, as well as I, that the meeting will be in some far corner of the state, on a Wednesday, at 8:00 am. http://www.gf.state.az.us/inside_azgfd/mee..._schedule.shtml The april meeting is in Phoenix, every time I have went it has been on Saturday when this stuff is discussed and public input is allowed. We need to keep our eye open on this, so when the public input is asked for we can give it. At any of the commission meetings they have a call to the public at the end and you can go up and speak about anything, having facts and support is helpful when doing that though. I know before on some issues they ask for public input on a thurday at 2:00 p.m. at the fairgrounds and they let you know wednesday at noon, This should be different. The Animal rights people will be there, they always are, and I would bet if there is blood in the water they will attack as well. That poor deer just wanted to get a drink and BANG bambi is dead, or it just wanted a little salt and BANG bambi was murdered. I personally don't give a dang what these people think, I haven't protested them picking soy beans or killing all of those plants that are minding their own buisiness, so I think they should stop protesting what we do, but they won't because they think how they live is how everyone should live, where as I think to each his own. If we allowed the world to not hunt and fish, and to not raise animals for food, and not manage them at all we might as well plan on the end of the human race, which would make a lot of those types happy. Of course they also believe in live and let live and that the animals would not harm a human if there was no threat (Tim Treadwell), there is probably a huge list of people that are attacked by wild animals and I would be willing to bet that the majority said they didn't know it would happen. The last time I checked wild animals are WILD, and the only thing we have over most predators is Brains, but listening to some of these idiots we could argue the fact. Sharks, crocs, and gators kill people we build boats, lions, bears, tigers, and wolves kill people we use weapons, or we domesticated some and used them as we see fit, because a human against most animals in a straight up fight is getting killed. The funny thing is that hunters do more than anybody in the World to protect species, either as a huntable species or as something that benifits from our hunting dollars and restoration efforts to save habitat, and restore others. That is the one for the upcoming hunting season. I believe they are supposed to have a separate time for public input on new rules, as Outdoorwriter outlined in a previous post. We need to keep our eyes open and keep everyone informed on this one. Also at any of the commission meetings they have a call to the public for anyone to speak, facts and support are a definite help when doing this. -
Officially worried about our future and our herds
KGAINES replied to wetmule's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
These people are freaking nuts, I hate to wish ill will on anyone but if these whack jobs were to go extinct it would be a good thing, but I would be willing to bet they think the same thing about the entire human race. They try to sound like they are doing something so noble, but they are trying to eliminate humans because we are the sole cause of all the problems in the world, and people line up to support them because of ignorance, or because some flake like Pam Anderson says so. -

http://news.yahoo.com/s/livescience/yellow...pintoextinction Well the yellowstone whitetail jackrabbit is now extinct, but they made sure to say that wolves did not cause the extinction, or at least they could't confirm their impact. It seems to me that if you stop allowing predators to be controlled prey species will suffer, and the rabbit was probably low on the food chain, what animal is next. We know that it won't be the wolf, they will protect it to the bitter end. I'll bet the rabbits wish they could have gotten some protection, where was peta protesting wolves to save the rabbit.

salt and feed no more in 2009
KGAINES replied to wardsoutfitters's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
The wording will not be deer or elk it will be cervids. Any of various hoofed mammals of the family Cervidae, which includes the deer and elk. The department was set on having the deer and elk season overlap last year, but it was changed at the meeting. It seems like every year the recommendation is changed for the doe permits on the Kaibab, the dept. knows this and usually has alternative plans ready at the meeting or they will change on the fly as per the commissions directive. Don't assume that it won't matter whether you go to the meeting or not, you could be the one to sway them, but if you are not there you don't have a chance.
