Sportsmen's Action Needed
KGAINES replied to rthrbhntng's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
http://www.azgfd.gov/w_c/wolf/documents/MW...ies.fnl_000.pdf Funny how much money we spend on these animals, year after year it gets exponentially greater with little or no real results, unless the results they are looking for are being achieved right under our noses. Limiting access, allowing predation of elk, deer, antelope, and bighorn, the major limitations on trapping, resources being spent on non-game species that used to be spent on game species, plus it allows peta type groups into our game and fish department. -
That's because wolves and condors are coming to the Peaks, Kendrick Peak, Cataract Canyon, The Grand Canyon, the South Rim, the Upper basin, Long Point, Bill Williams Mnt, Verde Valley, etc. The legislature and the governor's office has raided the AZGFD funds to help the 2 billion dollar 2008 deficit that they created, they took part of the La Osa bighorn settlement, the ohv and watercraft funding, but you can bet they didn't touch a dime that was going to the wolves, the condors, the jaguars, the spotted owls, or any other pet project of the commission. Next year could be way worse.

RIP UP THOSE AZG&F SURVEY CARDS!!!!
KGAINES replied to bowsniper's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I guess the groups that support the game and fish projects and various habitat projects are no longer needed by the department and the department can now pay contractors to do the work, or just not do the work and watch certain areas lose holding capacities for wildlife. The money from tag funds is used by the department and the department isn't charged one cent for the publicity to sale these tags, or the effort involved to get the most from the tags. I guess the department could just put the tags on ebay and sell them that way and who gives a dang, then they can put it in the habitat coffers at the department and use it when they hire people to do the work for them, or they can allow the governor and the legislature to take that money since the department will no longer use it and the governor can spend it on one of her worthwhile projects, she might even find a way to use that money to support a few more wolves or condors, or help close some roads, or just give it to the humane society to show that the governor really, really cares about animals. The politics in the game and fish department and the state of AZ isn't something to ignore, and if it wasn't for groups like the ADA, AES, ADBSS, ABA and the other groups out there hunters wouldn't ignore issues at all, they just wouldn't know about them. Tony when you wrote those articles complaining about issues with the department, what happened, did you maybe get a commissioner to change their mind just from your article, probably not, did you inspire any hunters to show up at a commission meeting to be heard, probably not, the people that are at these meetings on a regular basis are hunters and most are involved with one group or another, and over the last few years the commission has treated some like crap. The survey that the ADA is involved in with the AZGFD is toward the end of the process, the ADA just asked the department to wait on the results of the survey before they allotted doe tags. It seems strange to me to kill the does when you are in the process of a scientific study, will it skew the results, to me it will, the numbers they are dealing with at the start is being changed by man during the process, and it is different than what they allowed previous years, the doe permit numbers should have stayed the same. Of course I was told that 300 does killed would have little or no effect on the results of the study. -
RIP UP THOSE AZG&F SURVEY CARDS!!!!
KGAINES replied to bowsniper's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
It seems to me that any time there is something to fight about with the department the arhery hunters get involved, they attend meetings to get information and then make sure they have their say in front of the commission. I have heard Dick King in front of the commission several times backing the ADA and many other groups on issues with the department that has little to do with archery hunting. Getting involved and having your say doesn't make someone a whiner, when you allow everything to collapse around you and don't give a dang as long as it stays the same, and then you complain that it is still not good enough might make you a whiner, I don't see that with the archers in Arizona and I don't see it with the ABA and the other bowhunting groups. This commission it seems to me is good at isolating and attacking when they want to, they throw a few things out there to get everyone looking in one direction and then attack an easy group. I see this continuing every year and it won't stop until we all get together and back each other up. What is so freaking hard about filling out a mandatory survey card for deer, for all hunters, I don't care if a percentage of the number makes it scientific or not, allow the archers to fill out the random survey cards as well. Why is it the best thing ever for the rifle hunters and the department praises how great it works, but it is different for the archers, are they saying that bowhunters are poachers and need to be checked, are they saying that since they use a bow they can't read and write therefore the survey cards wouldn't work for them, or is the truth that a few of the commissioners hate the archery hunt structure and are looking for any way they can to change it for good. -
Start The Wait,Does It Make A Difference ?
KGAINES replied to deserthunter23's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
If they apply for a bonus point, do they still count the app. deer bonus point = deer app., no change in the number, but it would help in draw odds. Same for the rest of the species. -

Last I heard the online process will be back at the end of this year, or the beginning of next. -

The online process helps those that make mistakes on the paper apps., helps the ones who can't front money for several species, and helps Cabelas get their Apps. in on time without the use of a leer jet, and keeps a few of their employees from calling the AZGFD to stay late and just keep it between them. Other than that I think it will always be similar in numbers. -

I will get you some info on that, the super raffle committee I believe is who the AZGFD works with on how to allocate the money, the same way they do with the auction tags and the respective group that auctions it. http://www.arizonabiggamesuperraffle.com/ http://www.arizonabiggamesuperraffle.com/s...anizations.html

Your next President?

Well if he is elected and with the congress we have we will be Canada for a couple of years, but it won't be like we would be Mexico, you can't change from a capitolist society to a socialist society in a couple of years in a country like ours. What you can do in a couple of years is open up the public's eyes to what he really is, we have a group of people out there that think Bill Clinton was the greatest thing ever and that George Bush has ruined everything, most of those people can't make decisions on their own and need someone to tell them how to live, someone to give them their welfare, their healthcare, create a dependency on the government, alllow our government to be ruled by the U.N., these are the same people who vote for whoever the current drug addict rockstar tells them to, or the current drug addict actor or actress tells them to, these are the same people who line up to protest the troops, but proclaim the freedoms that those people put their lives on the line for daily, these are the same people who claim God doesn't exist and that evolution is the way the world was created, that scientific theory is always correct, that Rev. Wright can say God dang America and still be hailed as a friend and teacher to the man they want as president, then they can go to heck, but they can't change this country in a few years. -

If he wins, and that is a big, big if. To me I am glad he got the nomination instead of hillary, I could be wrong, but I think he is easier to beat. He will only get the liberal vote in my opinion, McCain will get the conservative and the moderate vote. There are probably about 80,000,000 gun owners in the U.S., I wonder how many of those vote. -
Pima would be closer, but I don't know about construction on either road right now, but when I am headed to Desert Mountain I take whichever road I get to first.

KGAINES replied to DesertBull's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
No matter what happens I don't wish nothing bad to happen to the leader of the United States. If and it is a big if he gets elected I hope I am completely wrong about him and he is a great president, but I hope that about McCain as well. Do I think he will be elected, no, do I think I will agree with his policies, no, do I like what he has done so far in his political life, nope, do I think it is the end of the United States if he gets elected, heck no. He is the media darling and he just beat out the liberals all time favorite president's wife, but all he is going to be is the next John Kerry or the next Al Gore. I also will add that as far as possibilities go any person who is elected to the presidency has a chance that there is some whacko out there that gets stupid, and if there is I hope he is caught before anyone is hurt. -
Hector I didn't see La Macarena in your list.

Feliz Navidad or La Bamba Glad I could be of help to you Casey.

Is that saying that were going to quit being the most advanced military in the world and quit advancing technology because we are so far ahead that we can stop, and since we are not going to improve, all the other countries in the world should stop too. Obama has found out through years of experience that wars are bad, and if you allow every one to catch up or pass you militarily the threats go away. He is a freaking genius, his strategy will pull in millions of sheep just waiting to be slaughtered. -
Can't be worse than teaching her to shoot. Casey can't watch since he's to pretty. Girls teaching technique. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j5Lsbs7JTaM

The "riff-raff" per say will apply every year paper apps or online, the ones who miss out are the new hunters or the borderline hunters and I don't want to call them "riff-raff" or "idiots", they may be ignorant, but they are not the "idiots" we think they are, and after a few years of applying and hunting they are learning and with us, the real "idiots" in the field the same ones that are there every year paper, online, cash, or credit, those guys will still be there.

We trained muay thai and aikido, with boxing, I did it for five or six years, once I had my kids the time I could dedicate to it went way down, eventually I stopped all together. Both my younger brothers did it as well, with my youngest brother being really good at it, and like Casey he wrestled in school before graduating to the muay thai, he still wants to fight mma, but you need the jiu jitsu, plus kids and a job hurt the real time needed to excel at it. One of the girls we trained with, is starting to get into the mma, she had started strictly boxing when she went pro, but I seen her in a mma fight a while back.
