Reccomend any good books for me?
KGAINES replied to Mr. Jonathan's topic in Hunting and Outdoors-related books
Bill is this the book you are thinking about. "Coronado's March In Search Of The Seven Cities Of Cibola And Discussion Of Their Probable Location" J. H. Simpson If not let me know what it is because I will probably read it. Mr. Jonathan If you like the mystery style books, the ones written by C.J. Box are for the most part themed around hunting and the outdoors, with murder and mayhem thrown in, Outdoor Writer mentioned them and I have read every one so far. For a comedic twist to the outdoor books read the books about Tom Brown jr., good books, but it seems a lot of embellishment takes place in these. -

A book I would reccomend would be "The Rivers Ran East" by Leonard Clark It isn't a book on hunting, but more adventure of his search for the seven cities of cibola. It is a good account of what was encountered in the South American jungles in the 1940's, from man and beast. Thanks for the list Bill and Tony. -

I appreciate the response as well from azgfd. I do however have a problem when the rule process appears to limit the success so that more tags may be issued. What I see happening is the department claiming they are limiting numbers by making this rule, and out of the other side of the commisioners mouths they are issuing more rifle draw tags in october or november. They may also make the units where this is happening draw for archery, and again they will raise the october and november tag numbers. The commission might throw someone a bone and raise the dec. tags by two or three since they know those will be put in for, and not be on the leftover list. I understand that right now it is only baiting, but what happens when it is determined that 15x binoculars are helping to kill more deer than anything, are they next in the new 5 year rule making objectives on how to provide more tags. I don't use bait, but I could care less if someone else does, as long as they put the time and effort into hunting and do it legally they shouldn't be penalized for being successful, because the more the rules are made under that notion, the more we will all be affected. I can't make these meetings, but over the last two years or so it seems aside fromt he late cabelas apps. deal, the commission (two in particular) are all about limiting success, limiting quality, and providing opportunity, and even the opportunity they are proving is not wanted by most.

Has our governor already bought her plane ticket to Washington, and put her house up for sale here yet.

If they come and try and take the guns they might be given the bullets first. Truth be told, they will try and do it a little at a time although with the majorities he has and the beliefs he has he may try and make a lot of guns illegal right off and then go from there. Once they are illegal they won't take them as in house to house, they will give you the amnesty to turn them in, and then from then on if you are caught with an illegal weapon you will be tried as a criminal.

Well thank goodness I don't own any guns, I sold them all. That is my story and I am sticking to it.

My prayers are with you and your entire family.

Update: Found rifle Young, Az 10/23
KGAINES replied to Couzer's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Someone may have set it on the rear bumper or something to that effect and drove off, rifle falls off, next person comes along and picks it up, when they get to camp or whereever they find that the rifle is missing, go back to look and it is gone. Hopefully you find the rightful owner. -
The whole key to 17A is getting away from the roads, campwood will be crawling with road hunters. the eastern side of the unit on the public land will be less crowded, as well as the northern side of the unit. I will be up there too, for deer and cow elk. Terry I agree there used to be some really good deer in there, I hope to find one. Good luck

I hate the thought of these cameras everywhere, to me it is Big Brother taking advantage of the people. With the money spent on these systems and their operators they could be hiring more officers and put a human presence on the street, not more cameras to monitor everyone. Every intersection has a camera, right now most are not for law enforcement, but I was told that they are to monitor for accidents, and to look for vehicles during amber alerts. That worries me, I have a little less of a problem with the red light cameras, but it is still not a human. When a drunk can drive down the road swerving all over and go right past one of these cameras with no problem and someone going slightly faster than everyone else goes by they get a ticket. They need to hire more officers and get rid of the electronics, we are all on the Governments Trail Cams. What are your Ideas, I haven't got a speeding ticket from one, but in the last few days I have seen these things everywhere.
-
If I read it correctly, you pay the fine online for the freeway tickets, there are no points taken from you, your license can't be suspended from a photo speeding ticket, I read a law that was passed last year that makes it illegal for your insurance to go up from one of these tickets, so the only thing that it does is fine you, and if that is the only action taken it seems that it is allowing you to drive over the speed limit if you can pay the fines with no other penalties. I think that since SAFETY is the big concern you should have to pull over at special DUI stations every twenty miles or so and swipe your license and blow into a breathalyzer, if you are drunk you will be charged immediately and have to wait to be arrested, oh you should have to pay for the fuel that the officer has to use to come and get you at the checkpoint, plus the towing of your vehicle. There should also be GPS devices in all cars that are linked to some sort of government device that will issue you a citation for speeding, illegal lane change, taking off to fast(exhibition of speed), illegal u-turns, illegal turns anywhere, running red lights, tailgating, not coming to a complete stop, merging across the gore strip on the freeways, driving to slow, nad failure to signal. It should also be illegal to own a vehicle that can exceed 75 miles per hour, I am pretty sure that is the max speed limit in the United States, if you are passing someone and exceed 75 you are still speeding, so if anyone gets a speeding ticket it isn't their fault it is the manufacturers fault, unless it is on a surface street. If a person gets pulled over on one of these freeways by a patrol officer you could almost use video evidence or Lack of to be exact to get out of the ticket, your honor I just drove past six cameras and didn't get a single ticket, but this officer says I am speeding, your honor someones radar is not calibrated correctly, either I get a photo ticket from the cameras, which I didn't or I am innocent, and if your cameras are off in their calibration you need to refund everyone else that got a ticket that day. What would happen there the judge wouldmake you pay most likely, or he would throw the ticket out and undermine the officer that pulled you over, after all he is human.

There are more laws broken each day of much worse crimes and these cameras don't do a thing to prevent that, what they do is create revenue for each city, county, or the state, and then that is taken by elected officials and used for something other than law enforcement. If they took the initial funds that they used to buy these cameras and hired Police officers they can enforce traffic laws and respond to other crimes. I have gotten a red light ticket from one of the cameras the circumstances that caused it wasn't my fault, but I paid the ticket and had to go to traffic school because AZ requires any red light violation to attend the school regardless of paying the fine, but they don't tell you that prior to you paying the ticket, why because you could just go to the school in the first place and only pay once, instead they make you pay twice. I may be mistaken, but I was told that elected state officials can't be held up by the police and aren't issued traffic violations while congress is in session, if that is the case they could care less about how this affects anyone. I guess these vans that the police set up on the sides of the road must be pretty boring for the officer that does that, I heard one was pulled over for driving eratically and he was found to be drunk, if I had gotten a ticket that day I would have raised heck for that ticket.

Suspend Campaign for Econ Crisis???
KGAINES replied to Ben-Dover's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
pelosi is talking about another stimulus package, she is saying after the election they will convene to vote on it. She is hoping for a democrat president and more liberal democrats in congress to push it through, and it sure doesn't look like it is for the average American taxpayer, looks like more ways to sugarcoat socialism. Pelosi said a stimulus package would create jobs by investing in public works, increasing food stamps benefits and extending unemployment insurance for the long-term jobless. She said lawmakers need to "hunker down" and look closely at the federal budget for possible savings, and reconsider whether the U.S. can afford to fight "a war without end" in Iraq. DB can you tell me a politician who isn't a liar, I think that is a prerequisite for the job, most start off with great ideals and principles and then find out that if they just say what the people want to hear it is a lot easier for them, and in their minds thye know what we want even if we are telling them something else. When they are caught in lies they just say they were taken out of context, or just tell another lie to cover the previous lies. It becomes easy for them because all the people around them keep telling them how smart they are and most believe everything they are told and allow that ego to grow. -
