Just to clear up some confusing statements in this thread, some Buddy heaters have an O2 sensor built in, meaning they should shut down if oxygen levels reach a low point, but does nothing for CO2 or CO accumulations. CO (carbon monoxide) is a serious killer and you can get a battery operated detector about anywhere for $15. CO2 (carbon dioxide) is less of an issue but could be an issue at high concentrations, even with adequate oxygen levels. I sometimes use a Big Buddy in my Kodiak 10x10 with a "household" style CO alarm that runs on AAs, and I try to strategically vent so there's some airflow but I don't lose all the heat.

Try this: 2 cans of Rotel (I like one hot and one regular) One big yellow onion 4-8 garlic cloves crushed or finely chopped 3# trimmed meat Dump it all in a crock pot, fill with enough water to cover the meat, and cook on high 6-8 hours. Then strain off the liquid, shred the meat with a couple of forks, and add whatever amount of BBQ sauce seems right. I like about 1 1/2 small bottles of Sweet Baby Rays original - seems to compliment the Rotel and onion. Serve on quality hamburger buns.

I bought a REI Flash 30 Long for a wilderness elk hunt last year and ended up loving it. Mine weighs the advertised 1lb 12oz and I slept warm down to the low 20's wearing a base layer and beanie on the colder nights. http://www.rei.com/product/862529/rei-flash-sleeping-bag#tab-specs

.17 Hornet for a calling rifle
BruinPoint replied to WampusCat's topic in Predator Hunting and Trapping
I first heard of the 17 Hornet about the time I was losing interest in predators but it sure seemed like a good solution. I was using reduced loads in a 17 Remington to about the same effect but still a little hotter than I wanted. -

Barrel break-in results

There are a lot of methods that will work, just some are more component intensive than others. Load development can get pretty ridiculous depending on your goal. Mulepackhunter's method is probably the most common and given that you already have data to work with it may be your best bet now. Wayno945 mentioned ladders (Audette Ladder Method) which have worked well for a lot of people. Another method is the Optimal Charge Weight Method (OCW) which I've been playing with recently and is working out well. Below is a OCW workup that resulted in an accuracy node at groups 9 and 10 that gives me wiggle room with charge weight and ambient temperature. -
Looks like good times!

That's a nice looking rifle, by the way. -

I would interpret those targets the same - IMR 7828 looks the best. Are these loads you had worked with before? I'm curious why you took the approach you did? -
Does anyone know when 2015 non-resident combination licenses will be available online? Will non-permit archery deer tags for 2015 be available online before January? I called AZGFD before Thanksgiving but ended up on hold then had to take another call before they got to me.

I wouldn't imagine so! Congrats again!

Good luck! I hope the people in my state are as good to you as the folks in your state have been to me! Kill a big one!

Amazing Mule Deer Rut Footage and 4 Kill Shots!
BruinPoint replied to andygrand's topic in Mule Deer Hunting
Great work - worth the time to watch - Not many videos I can say this about anymore, but I was captivated by the mule deer hunt. -
Sitting here not tired enough to sleep so I thought I'd share some pics from past hunts in AZ - hopefully they display okay, I might have compressed them a little much. I try to come down from Colorado at least once a year for javelina or deer and it's always worth the effort and expense. Looking forward to the next trip.

I may get a few days to come down from Colorado before the 31st. Going all in on 21 and see what I get into. I have the glass and a good attitude so it should be a good time no matter how it goes. Any reason to bring an ATV to use responsibly and save my poor truck, or are the roads pretty good?
