thanks for the comments, a great bull with family and friends says it all, i took this bull in the Ninemile Elk unit on the rez, not your typical elk habitat is exactly right, the unit is very open and has elk on literally every ridge so getting on a bull can be an extremely tough task with archery equipment, which i started out with, i hunted a total of 11 days and seen a lot of nice bulls throughout the unit, somewhere around the 5th day all the bulls decided to have a royal rumble and the next day every single bull had atleast 1 broken tine, crunch time came into play and the pressure was on. down to the last day i wanted to hunt, i packed away the bow and picked up the rifle, the next day we set out on some intense hiking and the plan was finally made and carried out with precision, ironically i shot this bull at 25-30yds! a tough pack out followed and with 3 busted tines my bull taped out at 320 1/8 inches with 10" bases, looking back on the hunt it was another great time with the crew, we seen plenty of bulls, most being in the 310-360 range, and the bugling every day during the entire hunt was music to anyone's ears, i'd like to thank my family that was there with me the whole time and a special thanks goes to my uncle Bob Stevens who owns ApacheOutdoors Guide Service, he was there with me in 2009 when i got my last elk and played a big role again on this hunt, the guy knows his stuff! thanks BOB, good times! a little side note... this "trophy" elk unit has gone downhill since the OTC any elk tag for units 28, 31, 32 opened, the days of 456, 439, 422, 414, 410, etc are over for now, bulls rarely make it past 360 with all the pressure in the area, i hope one day things get back to normal but until then we'll just have to wait.... and as one more side note, several days later on the state unit 28 draw, my uncle's client took one of the elk i hunted during my hunt, a wide/heavy busted 9x7, busted and still 9x7 lol, congrats to the hunter! What's up everyone! man i've been gone too long and seem all lost but i think i'm all caught up, everyone is out fishing, camping, hiking, etc i hope, family time is the best time, anyway i just thought i would give a little update on what has been happening around the San Carlos area for those who might be interested. Fishing.....a lot has been going on with the fishing all over on the rez, some tanks doing good then not so good then good again, the San Carlos Lake is down to below 8% capacity the last time i checked, looks like we're living in the old days at Old San Carlos area, water down there is really brown and dirty but everyone still catching fish, the lake is still good fishing but for how much longer we'll have to wait and see, very steady decrease in water, Talkalai Lake is picking up a little more on the Crappie, everyone's doing good on worms and basic rubber jigs, i think too many wild apaches swimming around down there from sun up to sun down though to get much fishing in haha, i havn't been up to Seneca lately but i've heard mixed info on that place, last i heard from the rangers though is that fishing is okay but the water is a little dirty, Black River seems to be doing good, might want to stay away from the heavier traffic areas and do a little exploring! be careful not to do any Chuck Adams photo poses haha, too bad those racks had to be left there, should have stashed it and called me up, jk, a few of our stock tanks are starting to go down bigtime! Bobcat tank and Boni tank are both going to be flagged off due to many fish going belly up, too many fish and no O2, too bad too cuz those were both excellent tanks, right now the bass fishing has slowed on the tanks, trout is holding steady, and catfish is how catfish always is, very good, so if you're down for some cats then you definately should hit up some of the more untraveled tanks on the rez. Hunting......there's been a rumor of a few tribal members spotting a very large NT bull elk around the Dry Lake area with the most impressive headgear you've ever seen! the rangers checked it out last week and took some pictures and guessed the bull to go over 500 with no problem, except for the problem that i'm just pulling your legs and i'm jk, haha, yea there's always stories of big elk and all that but we'll have to wait until SEPT and DEC to find out, hope to see some nice elk though, can't wait for the deer season though, last year was killer for coues and hoping this year will be the same, ready to start doing some scouting soon with pictures, anyone needs info give a hollar, couple of big fires up on the rez so far, first one burned downa good 1,800 acres in the Bonita Creek area, and the other one is still burning now around the Dhorn area in Unit B, some really nice whitetail country going to be rejuvinated! that fire is at 1,993.3 acres. anyone wants any other specifics on the rez, fishing, camping, sunrise dance schedule haha, or whatever just give a hollar! here's a pic from the Lake, tried to Chuck Adams the fish but i don't think we did a good job haha. The shed season here on the SC rez finally opened on the 1st, it felt really good to get out and just be out there doing what we like to do, found some drops from last year, one with a killer base thats a match to one i found back in OCT, both were 13 pounders, also picked up a cool 43" coues shed, i'm going to do some artwork on it, only one bad note, got tired of hearing about all the guys who have been going out since back in FEB/MARCH and how they're bragging about not getting caught, some of these guys have 20+ brown's already! just ruins it for the rest of us obeying the rules, oh well. DAN

Awesome video, love those days when the sheds just keep popping up one after another, chalk/hard white/brown it don't matter, it was good to meet you at the ISE show too, i'm anxiously waiting for the season to open here so i can start "racking" them up myself, you've also inspired me and i'm sure others as well to maybe make a short little video like yours, good luck out in the field and don't forget to post up the trips.
