Here's some photos of a great wide buck taken on the San Carlos this past Jan hunt, this is the buck from the "wide buck" post in the aerial photos, the pictures from the aerial flight are from 2008 when i think he may have been his widest, he definately grew his best set of horns in 2009 when he was a massive 4x4, this year he was roughly on his 3rd year of decline but still a very impressive animal that any hunter would be happy to even see, congrats to the hunter and everyone involved. comes down to the scorers choice ultimately, the bigger and more points there are, the further 2 seperate scorers will come up with the same number. boone & crockett awards for symmetry, so your buck would get the bigger mass measurement but be penalized for symmetry. if i were scoring it i would score it as a typical, doesn't seem to be a common base there to me, great looking buck by the way too! DAN

i've only got the pics i took for dept. files and the hunter is going to email me field photos this week which he said i can then post, was a young hunter who took this buck and his father was there to enjoy it as well. DAN

Looking like the sale will happen the first part of February, there's a commission meeting tomorrow which should produce an official date. DAN

No actual sale date has been set as of yet but the sale date is planned to happen sometimes after January 15th, 2012 (after the Jan. coues hunt ends), thats all for now, i'll post the sale date once its determined. DAN

The website is no longer, or hasn't ever really been monitored on a daily basis, its more of a bulletin board where new information is shared once its available. And just to clear things up a little for anyone that doesn't already know, the tag sale that is going to happen will be for ALL tags for the 2012-2013 hunting year which is all hunting activity starting AUGUST 2012 & ending JULY 2013.
