My first time... thought it was pretty cool. I really was intrested in the taxidermy competition display. I joined the Arizona Taxidermy Association and sat in on a 3 1/2 hour seminar. I wish it would have been longer.... Ed F

I just moved to Prescott and have had a beetle colony for the past 4 years. It started as a hobby and then I was doing over a hundred a year... My prices are very reasonable. You can ship to me or I can make another trip to Cabelas... Ed F

Whitetail deer with a Muzzy MX3... no tracking involved.... It's all about shot placement, not how big the hole is. Ed F

This is a bizarre request and I'm embarrassed to ask.... but here it goes. I recently moved to Prescott and was taking my last truckload of stuff to my new house. I had a set of caribou antlers on top of the load in the bed of my truck and somewhere along the route... the antlers fell out. Dumb move for not tying them down. This occurred at about 1 am this morning (12-08-15). I was coming from Southern California and last saw them in the bed of my truck when I fueled up in Ehrenberg off the 10 freeway. I took the 10 to the 60 to the 71 and then through Skull Valley. The only real bump in the road is the tracks in Aguila at the 71 and that is where I believe they fell out. When I found out that they were missing in Prescott I immediately turned around and retraced my route in the dark and then again when the sun came up.... two tanks of fuel... nothing. I am sick to my stomach. Everyone here knows what a trophy set of antlers means to them. This is a unique and beautiful set of Barren Ground Caribou antlers from a bull I arrowed in September in Alaska. It has the blue steel Alaska F&G tag on it. I'm hoping that someone hears a story about an unusual find in the Arizona desert. I will pay a reward to get the antlers back. I've seen good things like this happen on CouesWhitetail, com before. I don't know what else to do. Thanks. Ed F PM me or email me at fanchins@aol.com

No OTC archery deer tags in Utah. They do have leftover tags after the draw that can be bought OTC, first come first serve, til they are sold out. The S/W zone has been sold out the past few years, a few days before the opener. I don't know about the other zones. Just for info. Hey SDHNTR, I'll take you up on your offer. I'd love for you to school me on those SD deer. Lets start right at the Wild Animal Park fence!!! Ed F

Thanks TJ. It's all about time in the field. I also use the Vortex 100 for turkeys. Ed F

Ditto on what TJ said. You don't need the mesh for turkeys. Shoot the largest expandable you can. IMO. Ed F

BLACKTAIL/BLACK BEAR COMBO ANYONE?
BOWUNTR replied to mattys281's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
4 plus miles. You guys are way ahead of the game, having hunted Coues deer. Blacktails, especially bigger bucks act like Coues deer. They don't take pressure very well. Think about tree stands. Some of the biggest bucks are taken from tree stands in wilderness areas. Popular trailheads will have hunters camped at or near them. I've hunted the Trinity's twice. My camp was 8 miles in and hunted deeper than that. Never saw a hunter and was hunting undisturbed deer. If you can, cross country away from a trail. The popular trail heads have more traffic. Another possibility is to have a horse packer drop your camp for you. Then you can hunt fresh and get into country that few see. Focus on the deer and you'll find the bears. Ed F -
BLACKTAIL/BLACK BEAR COMBO ANYONE?
BOWUNTR replied to mattys281's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
I was on that hunt with Kirk. He was kind enough to leave me his leftovers!!! Good luck on your Blacktail and Bear hunt. Go deep in any of the N/W Ca wildernesses and you should do well. Ed F -

Helluva buck. Congrats. Ed F

I shot one on the 27th. I passed up some better ones on opening morning. This buck completes my deer slam with a bow. Coues deer are definately the hardest one to tag. Well, for me they were. Any Coues buck with a bow is a trophy. Mark, I hope you nail that buck, he's a nice one. Good luck. Ed F

My buck won a biannual Pope & Young Award
BOWUNTR replied to bowsniper's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Well, Over 100 heads, horns and full mounts were sent to Pennsylvania. I can tell you first hand that they were well taken care of and will be, until they are shipped back. The panel measuring took place at a new Cabelas store and all the heads are on display at that store until the banquet in April. Viewed by thousands daily. Awsome display. Couple new world records. Most of the heads were shipped inter store which meant that all you had to do was crate it and get it to a Cabelas store. The store shipped it for free! There was tracking because they knew what truck each trophy was on as they were still coming in. No shortage of trophies from the west. I loved measuring the Coues bucks. An experience of a lifetime for me. Ed F 25th Biannual Panel
