That is such a cool story, and even better because it was your first coues. Like my parents always taught me, hard work always pays off. And you just proved that. -
Women's Javelina Hunting Camp - Thanks Amanda!
Girls Shoot Better replied to azslim's topic in The Campfire
Thanks Amanda for organizing such an awesome weekend! We were spoiled by the great food prepared by Youth Outdoors Unlimited! The mentors that helped were so helpful and knowledgeable! In particular, I want to give a special thanks to AZ Game and Fish Wildlife Managers, Gabe Paz and Craig McMullen. They were patient and a lot of fun to hunt with. Thanks to Steve Paz, who came out on Saturday to help Gabe. The two of them, walked Bonnie and my butts off. It was worth it though to get a chance to see the mountain lion and have them pursue it and get a shot at a pig! It was amazing to watch the lion dogs. Stan, thanks for filling in on Sunday and taking us out. Even though we didn't get a shot, had fun in stocking the pigs. Bonnie, I truly enjoyed hunting with you and hope to do more of that in the future! Chris and Shannon, we really enjoyed talking to you....even though Chris is from Benson (Go Jackets!) and likes ASU (glad you got home in time to see the game :-) Gerry, you better post a pic without your beard! TJ...sorry Pine Donkey missed ya...he waited until after 1. Bill, thanks for the how to make sausage lesson! Amanda, hope you organize more of these and invite back the same great people and more! I am very impressed with the close nit group you have developed! Laurie and Chrystie -
I have been a rifle hunter all my life. I always wanted to try bow hunting....but sports and school kept me busy. This year, I finally got my first bow! I had to practice pulling it back a lot because I got one with a minimum draw of 60 lbs. I also tore a ligament in a knee..so hiking over the hills was impossible. I lucked out and found a two point buck on the second to last day of the hunt. I shot it at 15 yards. My brother and dad guided me on when to release my arrow. My brother blood trailed it and brought it back to the road for me. It was exciting and lucky first archery hunt!

2011 Archery Coues Bucks
Girls Shoot Better replied to CouesBuckhunter's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Thats so awesome. Its such an awesome feeling to get a deer with your dad. My dad and I did that two years ago. The deer were babies compared to you and we were rifle hunting. Plus it an a great memory and even better story to tell. -
I believe that. But when James told me the story, it was totally different. He told me that he couldnt get a good shot.

I am a first time bow hunter. I have hunted with a rifle all my life but i always wanted a bow but never had the time until now. For christmas I got a PSE Stinger. Now that I have time to shoot does anybody have advice to become a better shooter. I am a 20 years old and yes I am a girl, so any info would be more than great.

This is my 10 month old puppy Cabela. She is the puppy of my parents' dog Winchester. Cabela is one of the reasons why my dad started this post.
