Thanks for all the advice, I will say, my wife and I went out again the next day after seeing the 2x2 with the does and picked him up again. And yes I made the stock but no did not get em. I won't go through the whole story but I watched him and one doe move over a small hill in the flats and they were moving pretty fast so I figured they would be a little further ahead than expected. As I made it to the same hill I knocked an arrow and slowly made my way up the hill and low and behold the buck was still near the top and he made me. i did not spook him but did not want to keep pushing him. He made his way to the other does so I called it. Wife and I are going out this weekend. Due to the Monday holiday we were able to get 5 days away from work. Again thanks for all the input, and I agree, I believe what ever I'm fortunate to take will be worth it.

I'm in. However, I think with this easy online app process we are going to find more hunters trying to get drawn. Especially since the money only comes out of your account if your drawn and not the refund process. We'll see.

I doubt he saw the bucks if he was being so noisy. I don't know about most hunters but I always take two radios with me. I would have given you one of my radios and given you another pair of eyes for YOUR stalk.

Congratulations, I'm excited for you and Lilli. My daughter is 4 years old and loves going quail hunting with me. No need for a bird dog she gets em for me. she already loves to go glassing up deer with me and i can't wait till she gets to hunt deer. Its all about being together and sharing the memories. i feel for you brother.

Welcome to the site. Awesome buck. I have been hunting hard. This is my second year archery hunting. Made a few stalks on a few big bucks but have not had good shots. Can't wait.

Saw a lot of Bucks on my September archery Hunt in 21 but could not close the distance to get a good shot. Went back on Opening week in December and did not see anything. Assuming they left the area to look for does since I did not see any does in September. Going again before end of year but will be looking at other areas. Cant wait.

Nice first Buck. I'm still looking for my first Archery Buck....

Great Job, most of us only get to see Bulls like that mounted on walls

Awesome bulls. Needless to say I'm a little jealous I have not been drawn since 2007.

Carlos, Sorry to hear about your situation. Calling a state insurance department is a good start. I'm in law enforcement and whoever told you to stage or create damage to make it look like someone broke in is wrong. You would be looking at insurance fraud and I guarantee if you got caught your situation would become worse. I don't know what your relationship is with your insurance agent but I have had the same agent for over twenty years and its normally their responsibility to fight for you in order to keep your business or its time to find a new insurance company. I was in a minor four wheeling accident and loose dirt caused my truck to slide sideways hitting a pine tree. Because of my oversize and wide tires there was no visible body damage to my truck but my gear box was bent to heck. The insurance adjuster tried to say because there was no visible damage they were not going to pay the claim. Needles to say I was pissed and told the adjuster to show me in my policy where it said their needed to be visible damage to constitute a car accident. I also called my Agent and gave him an ear full. He had a new adjuster review the claim and needles to say it was taken care of. In your situation I would call your agent and have him fight for you. Also have him show you in your policy where it says there has to be damage or signs of forced entry before they will pay the claim. Burglars are smart and in most cases will and can find a way in without leaving a trace. The definition you were provided about Burglary by MCelkhunter is exactly correct. Again, I would say contact your agent and have him show you your signed policy and have him/her show you their definition of a burglary and demand he fights for you. I will almost guarantee it will not say there has to be damage or signs of forced entry. If he does not fight for you, I would definitely say its time for a new company. I wish you luck and I pray the dirt bags who broke into your house get theirs......

I was with my buddy on this hunt. However, he was short and sweet with his post. We started with an afternoon hunt and found two bucks after 10 min of glassing. Due to a canyon between us and the bucks he couldn't get any closer than 465 yards while I glassed a little further back. We glassed these bedded bucks for two hours waiting from them to stand up and determine which was the bigger of the two. Needless to say even after loud horseback riders rode within 50 yards of the bucks they never flinched and stayed bedded as they watched the riders ride off below them. My buddy was trying to hold out for a big buck and was continuously asking me what he should do. I thought it funny him asking me for advice being only 6 years into big game hunting and only my second year dear hunting and not having a buck under my belt yet. To me it was a no brainer. While we were communicating over radio he said he had another buddies hunt next weekend, the junior hunt the following weekend and both he and his daughter had November Bull Elk hunts in different Units (I havn't been Drawn since 2007). He felt taking this buck would take some pressure off of him and help him focus on helping everyone else. I said it sounded like he already made his decision. After saying that, He said give me 30 seconds then took the shot. As he said it was one shot one Kill. The second Buck stood up looked around and bedded right back down. Oh yeah and the second buck was the smaller of the two which we could not tell due to him being behind a Palo Verde Tree. The second buck stayed bedded until we approached within 70 yards. I will say, I was a little nervous on the way up to the down buck because my buddy was trying to hold out for a Big Buck and I was no help with his decision to back off. I was very relieved when we finally made it up the hill and he was very happy with the result. So, I believe his decision to take the Buck was a good one as we have been helping our other buddy on his hunt and have not seen any big Bucks. It's always fun hunting with Joe.

Awesome Bull. I wish I would have started Big Game hunting as young as you.

My wife and I went up to Blue Ridge in October, was a little cold but beautiful during the day. Not a lot of success but was very windy. My wife caught two trout using spinner bait while I was rowing the canoe. Would not go back to fish but would for the scenery and the camp site.

Great Video. Even with a 70lb draw that would have been a tough decision as one is always hoping the elk will come a little closer. In this case the decision was the right one and I respect the decision so no more sleepless nights. Thanks for the video, I am so pumped because this is the first year my wife put in for elk and I am more excited for her. Hope one of us get drawn.

I looked through both the Swaro's and the Kaibab's at the same time. The Swaro's let in a little more light but not enough to justify the difference in price. The view was pretty much as clear as the Swaro's. I see the Kaibab's on Craig's list.com all the time for reasonable prices. I would purchase the Kaibab's but need to justify with the wife the need for another set of binos.

Thanks for all the responses. I went ahead and purchased the Nikon Monarch ATB 10x56. Great price and have already used them a few times. So far I am please with the choice.

I currently have a pair of Nikon Monarch 12x42 binos and thinking about buying a second pair so my wife can help glass when the buddies are not around. I cannot spend a lot of money right now and was wondering if anyone had any knowledge or what they think about the Nikon Monarch ATB 10x56. I can get these right now for under 300.00 and most of what I read has been pretty good. However, I would like the opinion of someone who has a pair or has more knowledge about binoculars. Any suggestions? Thanks, Geno

I am fairly new to big game hunting. Just started in 2007 when I was drawn for Rifle Elk. On opening morning at day break I had a choice of 3 bulls and was able to take the big 6x6. I could not believe the adrenaline rush. I was hooked and of course with our lottery system I cant seem to get drawn again. I recently started taking up archery and went Javeline and Mule Deer hunting for the first time. I was able to get my first Javelina and what a good time. On my deer hunt, I have been very lucky and have seen deer every time I have been out but have not been successful on the stalk. On my second to last day of the hunting season I was able to get close enough to take a shot at a nice wide 2x2 who was bedded down due to the high winds. Not knowing about angles I ranged the doe who was with the buck at about 50 yards as the buck was about 5 yards behind. Again, my heart was pumping and I neglected to range the buck and put my 50 yard pin on him and let it go. I watched that arrow go right over his back. On my last day I glassed a nice 4x4 at about 230 yards walking right at me. Unfortunately he made an immediate U turn and met up with some does on another hill and was never able to close the distance. Although i will be putting in for rifle deer come season, I have to say Archery is a major rush. I can't wait to get my first Deer. Geno
