If we are dreaming how about a Tikka T3 in 30-06 or 300WSM! They won't leave the factory unless they shoot under 1 moa. Stainless w/rubber type inserts inthe composite stock. NICE!! From what I have read up to now are great things. Great weight, stock, excellent trigger(2-4lbs adustable) . Priced less than a Browning A-Bolt. OH HOW I/WE DREAM OF STUFF WE DON'T NEED!! HAHAHAHA

All great ideas as far as I can tell. I am one of the guys that does not nowabout tuning a bow, but so far every thing works great! Here is my opinion; Try using different brands of carbon with different heads. My bow really likes Vapor Blackhawks only with 100gr Muzzy 4blds and Gold Tip XT's w/ 100grn Gladiators by GT also. If I try and mix them up all goes out the window. I have know idea why but since finding the right combo I don't care.

Something just came to mind that I have been wanting to ask you all. This last Jan while heading home from 36A on Sierrita Mtn Rd. at one of the stores a guy saw us in uniform (camo head to toe) and asked how we did. This guy was very nice, recommened some spots, lots of helpfull tips about the area. Just what we needed. One of the areas he recommened we knew about but we also knew that it was posted as "private property, no hunting, no nothing" He told us that that was NOT true and that it was state land, infact he knew who put up the sign and they did so to have there own little area to hunt for them selfs. I don't belive he was trying to get us into troble because 3 of the areas he recommened we knew to be great spots the other two later proved to be good also. We chose not to try because we didn't want to get into any trouble with the WM or any locals. Any one come across this?

I'm in the same boat. I have not been out nearly enough....or practiced enough. I feel guilty just writing it. But I did get out this last weekend to check a hole that I ran across the second to last day of this Jan bow season. I also walked away amazed. Happy that they still had water(probably with the help of the rancher), but very amazed. I don't know how they do it. Very dry and hot but it looks like a good spot! Ever since taking up bow hunting I do not mind so much if I don'tget draw for a deer tag. I just do not get to hunt with my best hunting partner, my wife. I can NOT wait either, I can already tell this is going to be a great year!

Hard copies of regs on their way
More D replied to couesdiehard's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I know the feeling! I have my brother print me a copy from the net as soon as they are available. I do my home work. Even when the hard copies come out I still grab about 8-10. I keep one in each bathroom, one in my real office, the other I file away to look at later. The rest? When the books run out the rest of our hunting group hits me up for a copy because they know I will have one. -
Cool photos!! I had not seen a Gila Monster since I was 7 years old!!

I think so Ernesto, each hunter is assigned a number then a "computer" draws from the bank of numbers "randomly" So if your number is the very first to get pulled then you and all on your app get first choice, WOWHOOO! But if your number gets pulled near the end and only 2 tags remain for the hunt you want but there are 4 of you then you are unsuccesful. This computer system is good because it is random and gives us an equal shot at a tag. It does not recognise "friends, buddys, compadres, bosses" etc. It is easy to question when my uncles fellow contractor has drawn a rifle bull elk tag 4 times in the last 6 years!!!

I agree, I also beleive that we should pay up front. Internet aps were great at first but then it became too easy for the half campers/hunters. I happens every year, my friends and family see my excitment for the upcoming hunt(HOPEFULLY) and want to "tag" along. Most have never hunted, don't have a rifle, or any camping equipment. It is hard because I want othersespecially my friends and family to enjoy what I REALLY LOVE TO DO and we NEED more hunters in general. I tell them that we should go camping any other time other than hunting season so that I can see with my own eyes the type of person I am dealing with. We all know that hunting is alot of responsibilty, and I won't lose my hunting rights be cause of some one elses OOPS. Anti's buying tags does not really bother me. I figure it is a way for them to directly make a donation to what they are trying to stop. Each anti donating $48 would be a great thing! BEST OF LUCK TO ALL IN THE DRAW!!!

I am with every one else on this one. I just read about the .204 Ruger, the "parent" from which the case was taken from was the .223(.223 necked down to .204). The magazine article was commenting that coyotes are almost too big. Makes me think that if the "parent" case was the .223 that it might not ever come in 40-50-60gr weights. Just a thought(I am not bashing the .223, I promise): If you ask a hard core varmit hunter about the .223 he has a lot of good thing to say, like every thing else it has it's place. He might also say that the .223 is great for coyotes, but nothing bigger. BUT our U.S. military says that it is great against people. Again I have nothing against the .223. I like to shoot it alot. Nice bark to it and ammo it not that expensive.

Good pointS Rembrant! Beautiful! -
I would say to go down to wal-mart/gun shop and buy all the different brands and weights you can. Take your new toy to the range and try and focus initially and getting the best group you can......take your time. Do this only to find which ammo (brand, weight) your rifle likes. Just about all ammo made is great ammo, it might cost a few dollars and time at the range but it will be worth it. You might get lucky and your rifle likes "regular" grey winchesters or remington cor-locs. Then once you know what your rifle likes the only try to use the range to verify your zero a bit before the season. We can tell you what WE use but your rifle is going to tell YOU what to use. PRACTICE, PRACTICE in the hills. My rifle likes remington 150gr cor-locs, shoots .89 inch groups at a 100 yards with them. Any thing heavier or even the same weight but a different brand groups average 3 inch(BIG DIFFERENCE) some as much as 5 inch with point of impact way out of wack. I reload some but it takes me hours and hours and the groups are only a little better at .78 inch.

Maybe for the heathy, which I gave thanks for because without it we can not hunt. We have all said it before "I will hunt as long as I am able to" Wealthy, I consider myself to be one of the richest poeple I know. No I did not win the powerball YET, or have much money to speak of but rich in life. GOD has had me and mine in his graces for a long time and I know his will for all my days. When I go to sleep and when I awake I give thanks for all I have. We as hunters get to see GODS gifts that he has given to all man. To see that great sunrise/sunset, the hills, trees, and wildlife. Not every one sees the beautiful things we do. We are truly blessed, sometimes we just forget how much!

Cleanup in unit 36

There was about eight of us in the morning in three points and we set off just after 8am. There was only one dumpster there but I understand that it also got full! I am sure that eight of us did not fill it up alone. I in fact was only tagging along with a group from Desert Archers I think? It felt GREAT to help out and see some real results, it felt great to know that HUNTERS and people with the love of the outdoors were out in force! I know we all can't go afield with out the bed of the truck being used as a trash can on the way home but seeing dumpesterS (plural) is a good feeling!!!! -
Down here around Tucson we had a very nice rain, the type that is slow and gets to be absorbed not quickly washed away. At the clean up this Sat you can start to see the green up FINALLY! We were down in 36a and its started to look very nice. Hopefully this keeps up and thru the summer so that is is still green and water available for the new crop of deer.

Welcome Senor Benado! I would really like to see a picture? If you have one to show us?

Just wanted to add a note about the jackrabbits. On the King Anvil it looks like they hunt the coyotes, at the house just as you leave the ranch the one with the screen room you could see they had the pelts drying. At one time we counted something like 11. Once while we were signing out we even saw them skinning one. My hunting partner and I spend a lot of time in the King Anvil this season and I only remember seeing 5 coyotes and TOO MANY JACKRABBITS. We even used them as target practice but it only took loseing one $12.00 arrow to see that was a bad idea. It is a shame that it gets closed down for the summer jacks, lions, and shed hunting would make the summer shorter.
