I know that a number of fellow CWT members had drawn a 6A Muzz loader tags for both bull and cow. My wife and uncle both drew cow tags with no luck. We saw LOTS of elk, both cows and bulls just never not lucky enough to put one down. Friday morning I was in tears because neither my wife or uncle had a bull tag. We had a VERY NICE 6x6 bull with 10inch 5th & 6th points at 35 yards for a 30 second staring match! He was leading a big heard and when he got tired of playing with us he walked to the next hill about 100 yards away with us in tow for a fat cow but as soon as we popped our heads over the hill they were off! I just stood there with my mouth open in aw, 40-50 elk running by all less than 80 yards away! I was proud of my wife for not taking a iffy running shot. Every day was pretty much the same. FUN! We all had a wonderfull time in some of the most beautiful country, all in all it was a succsessful hunt!

Beautiful, beautiful deer! Regardless of what he scores he is a Coues of a lifetime!

Did the fires cause any problems? They were too far south from us to blame for us?
-
I got mine too ! Yesterday 11-21-05.

Very good point JVS! A lost animal would/is very difficult to deal with. I drilled it in to my wife about proper shot placement, as always, on her first Elk hunt this year. A lost wounded anything will sour an otherwise long hunting career.

I'm not sorry to say that I would have taken him under ideal conditions , at 50 yards to boot! Great post as always.

I went yesterday to set up as well! I hauled butt after I got out of work and had camp set up in 2 hrs! With all the excitement gave me a ton of energy! I was in such a hurry because it is our "lucky spot" This is also my favorite time of year!

Great post and some good looking bucks! I too was going to remark on you beer handling skills but someone beat me to it . I too got payback for all the harm I have done to beer. On a Sunday morning we were sitting having breakfast and some one had left a beer out from the party the night before and it suddenly burst! I got a small but deep cut about 1 inch below my right(my shooting eye) eye. I should have got stiches too but I figured that the ER people would never beleive me or they might have thought the I was still drinking that morning. I too would like to take you up on you offer to talk shop, maybe after the upcomming hunts pass a few of us could meet and teach you some beer handling skills !?!
