That's funny Couesfan I just saw a Prowler over the weekend and I thought of you right away. That thing is awsome! I didn't know how it compared to the Rhino or the Ranger in price or features but it did look cool! The sales person did say that they were hard to come buy but I thought he was just being a salesman. He did say that the only colors available were red and lime green. Maybe he couldn't get marsh green anyway congrats!

Moose & Caribou Combo!
More D replied to COOSEFAN's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Bill, I have seen this on a hunting show. The host did it with both a caribou and a moose, but he used a bow. The Caribou I didn't work to well only because they were the woodland type(I think) they didn't run to far.It was thick and they ran just out of sight. They Moose seemed to dig it and not only did he stick around he even took a few steps to get a closer look. No shot with bow though, the moose only gave a frontal head on shot. I don't remember what show it was but I found it very interesting. Both the Moose and the Caribou didn't seem very smart to me, but I figured it was because they didn't see to many two legged predators. Does that have anything to do with it or are they not as jumpy as our local nemises? -
I'm getting here a little late but GREAT post as usual! Thanks!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Hey Doc it's not the weight of the scope it's that it starts to "vibrate and shake" when shooting at game animals!

I use my highly scientific and accurate method by utilizing a vice type aparatice and good ole torpedo level . On my Mod.70 there is a flat portion on the action, so I start from there, I level that first. Then the rings and finally the scope. If you take the top cap off the scope as if you where to adjust the cross hairs you can put the level there but that part is the toughest one because it is so small. Kind of cheese ball way but it works for me. I am sure some one will have a MUCH better way of doing it. GOOD LUCK!

Just think off your just shot Coues running with your arrow in him into a crowd of nuns or school kids on a field trip or who knows what. We should try and keep the non-hunters friendly. Just some thoughts. Sorry if I only made more questions for you instead of answering yours.

Boy that sounds kind off tough. I don't know what I would do but if you are going to hunt there I suggest you make some sort of ground blind and get covered in camo from head to toe and try and keep your stalks to a minimum. Tree stands and stalking let the tourists see you. Most will not even see you and the ones who do will not care, BUT the few who DO see you will REALLY care. I guess it all depends on the foot traffic this small area gets. In the end I think that I could be seen by any non-hunters I would more than likely just go some where else.

We went out on Sun and were a bit disapointed not to find any Javies or even any sign of them. Did run into to a dandy Mulie and had him at 45-50 yards but there was too much brush between us for a shot. Then not 15min later while walking back to the truck another smaller Mulie buck at 75 yards away, too far for me. Not too small but to far! I am still trying to get ANY big game animal under my belt with my bow. I am about to leaving today at noon. It's all great fun even if you don't see anything.
