Good luck to you brother. You are going to take a great step in you life that can make you happy as can be. I'm going on 9 years for me and consider myself extremly lucky to have such a great woman. Remember that nervousness is normal but try and enjoy your day! Que Dios los bendiga!!

First off let me say I know little about these tag so fell free to correct me if I am mistaken on something here. There is one tag the goes to a raffle winner and another that goes to the highest bidder. OK buy me. I am lumpped into the "average hunter" group so if I put 10-20 bucks for a raffel ticket and actually won it I could use during a loooonnng season to help fill my dream of getting the big boy. So me and the rest of the thousands of hopefull ticket buyers moneys can very quickly add to do some real good for the game. To the guys who pay the BIG bucks to win the auction tag..............More power to you! Keep bidding, it is going to a GREAT cause. I sure to a much better one than some of the other things you have spent money on before! I second Coosefan: "THATS A GOOD THING" I suppose some of these tags come with outfitter services included and some don't. I know that if I won one of these tags in anyother state other than AZ I would not have the time to do the scouting etc. A guide would be the first thing I would look into. Outfitters need to eat too and just think about all the money that stays in Az aside from the money spent on the tag it self. I am sure that there are some negatives that I don't know about. But to me they seem to do alot of good.

I would have already but I am waiting for my brother. He is not sure he can hunt this year, I know...I know his priorities are all messed up!

Cool! glad to here that ! -
If you put in together both of your points will average out, thats not a problem. If getting drawn important then apply seperatly only because there could be a chance that your app will finally get pulled and there only might be one tag left for that unit. I would apply together for the memories of a hunt with my old man and he might need help by the time we actually get drawn. 13 and 14 dang! I actually had illusions getting a tag with my 6 points! Ha Last year I went to the Antelope clinic here in Tucson and there was a guy who had, if I remember correctly, 3 or 4 tags in 7 years. 2 of those were archery.
-
WTF!! That would SUCK! What unit is this in? When is the clean up! I bet a truck can NOT be backed up to that mess eaither! You do lots for hunters and how we are seen in the eyes of the world. A BIG THANKS TO YOU LANCE!

I love the photos. Great idea for a thread. You all make the day go buy quickly. -
The Anvil is one of our favorite hunting grounds. I have see lots of................stuff on the ranch. The illegal trails are incredible, some are wide enough for your truck to drive on and seem to pop up over night. Most of the "activity" as far as I can see is about a mile west of 286. and a mile east of the eastern edge of 36C. So right ON the Kings and where the coues are. I spend aprox 12 days a year hunting there and we have never had a problem. The only time any of us saw anything was when my hunting partner/cousin bumped into some illegals while driving. He stopped to check out a large tank and found it had about 10 guys sitting on it and they all had LARGE packs with them. As he pulled up to the tank they all scattered and he made a u-turn out of there and on the way out he stopped at Three Points to let BP know. Now we never go alone. I have never seen any illegals but you will see their effects ALL OVER THE PLACE! I have seen a drug mule camp that had hammocks set up and and 20-25 5 gallon water jugs littered all over and bunches of cup-o-soups. Illegal crossers don't carry 5 gallon jugs on there backs. It has to be the people picking up the drugs are dropping off the water. All of this on the Kings ranch. Now I bet you ask, why do we go? 1st. BIG butt MULE DEER! We tend to stay in between the "problem areas" on the flats. 2nd. When we stop going they win. Some times we think that we might be pushing it. Why wait for some thing bad to happen. It is sad to go to my favorite place and worry if we parked the truck in a safe spot or will I run into any drug runner. It is a sad situation.

That's Cool!!

Deer 2 Loper 6 Elk 3 Sheep 2 Buff 2 It never seems like I have enough points. I would be estatic with one tag again this year. Have you all figured which units/hunts to apply for yet?
-
I think you can if there is a bonus point hunt number because you are not applying for a tag to hunt a second deer for the year you are applying for a bonus point only. I THINK?!??

My list is gonna be short compared to the rest of you guys. My rifle(my baby!) is a bone stock model 70 in 30-06, black 26inch barrel, synthetic stock, Nikon 3-9x40 buckmaster series. It only seems to like 150gr bullets so when I have time I reload to shrink the groups but it is hard to justify when it will shoot under MOA with $11.00 a box Remington Cor-locks. Binos are Pentex 10x42 HR2's and a Leica 900LRF. My hunting/scout pack I couldn't make it again if I had to, it started out about four years ago and have added to it or modified it just about each time I put it on. I think I finally got it down now though. I am in the same boat as Lance, it is hard to upgrade with all that is going on. Although my wife has tried two different times to get me a new rifle but that is the last thing I would change. It just has a special place in my heart. It's a little rough and has it's fair share of scraches but it shoots better than I do. As for changes....?? I would love to have a trigger job done this summer and I will finally change out that chunk radial tire for a recoil pad for a Limb Savers one. My wife has one on her rifle and it's like BUTTER!

Do you guys ever go to the gun shows?
More D posted a topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
There is a gun show this weekend here in Tucson. I am going because, like i tell my wife, I would rather go to the gun show than to the movies. Do any of you guys or gals go? -
WOW! Mulie of a life time! With a bow at that!

What is the purpose of this new way of mounting? Maybe a quick release/eye relief como? I saw this on Ruger's hunting show.
