Very nice set up.....no, no that is the best set up you can get!! I am also happy to see that you have your priorities in line, I wish I would have made the effort in my earlier days like you are now. You will enjoy them for all your years of hunting!

Travel trailer. I am finally going to bite the bullet!

I am blessed with a wife who loves to hunt just about as much as I do. Now we have a young daughter who is just like her mom and dad, she loves the outdors. Now it is time for a travel trailer. Tent camping is fun! I really like it but now mom wants a trailer. I only have experience with the Fleetwood brand but that was a few years ago. We are for something in the 24-26ft range and new. My wifes Armada is rated to 9100lbs but i would like to stay under 7500lbs. A slide would be nice,etc..... Thanks -
I was there yesterday, Mon, and a young lady who seemed to be part of the "powers that be" made it clear that "all the archery stuff is 50% off and the rest of the store is 20% including optics and rifles"!! She was standing right in front of the optics counter at the time. The salesmen would quote "10-15% off and maybe more" I am sure you could get the 20% though. Some items were better deals yet. A BIG safe that had been priced a $ 1400 I heard quoted at $1000.

Yes that was us! We had planned on camping on 229 east of the the power lines but my wifes "city slicker" Armada doesn't do well in the mud so we ended up camping west of the power lines. I think you saw my uncle and aunt waiting for me and my family. The original plan was going to be my uncle and I only but at the last moment my aunt, my wife and 2 year old went along. We had a great time!!!! We ended up getting there at 5-5:30pm Friday. How was the rain? My uncle arrived earlier than us . He came up from Camp verde and turned north to Lake mary road from Clints well at 7:30am Friday and he said it started to rain for 5 hours strait! I sure was busy this weekend up there with the bow shoot and all. My uncle and I drew Bull muzzel loader tags for the Nov hunt. We will be(hopfully) camped on the 229 just as you come from Lake mary road and soon you start the first small down hill, we will be on your right about a hundred yards. I think you will know what I am talking about. We should be a big group, all the family members are planning on coming out to help as pack mules . Stop on by to say hi or if you need anything! I am getting long winded here but we are going to try and head up again around the 2 or 3rd week of Sept to go scouting again but with deer tag and bow in hand. Some time BEFORE the archery Elk starts. What did you draw??

Very cool pics Scotty! I bet it was even better in person. That round rock looks small in the first picture untill you sat in front of it. Great spot with a great view, it was popular now and WAAAYYYYY back then! You have got to take better care of your hands especially your trigger finger ! -
It looks like there will be more than a few CWT.com members in 6A this weekend!! I leave noon Friday !! We will be camped at the lake mary rd and 229 and we will be in my uncles 97 F150 ext-cab tan pick up. Any recommendations on the fishing in the area? Should I have bought the trout stamp? Honk if you see us!

I'll third that. Paying for a for a service and then feeling like they are doing me a favor............NO THANKS! A while back I took my baby, a Springfeild 1911, in for a beaver tail safty to be installed after a recommendation from a local gunshop. After finally getting some ones attetion, it took a whlie, I said what it was I wanted to be done. The guy behind the counter said that they didn't have any aftermaket beaver tails to sell me . I said that I had a Ed Brown BT safty that I wanted to them to install for me. I felt like I had to convice him to do the work. Granted they looked a bit busy so I gave them a few weeks. After three weeks with no word I called because I was getting ansy with out my carry gun and got the same sort of famous phone manners. Thru the complaining and "we are really busy" I heard him say it was done. I go to pick it up and when he hands me the gun I was shocked at how dirty it was so much so that I must have made a face but I did not say a word and he started to defend him self and getting all excited and raising his voice. I said "Hey hold up, I know I didn't ask the it to be cleaned but give me a brake" He went on and on I interupted him again and asked if it was done. He said yes and I walked out. At least they are busy enough that they don't need any of my business.

Cramer, How did those F3 broad heads work out? Did they spin well? I was looking to order some from the catalog. The 100gr version. What did they run you? Thanks!

Wow Elkhunter, we all owe you a BIG THANKS for taking that genetic mess out of the breeding pool. What unit was that out of?? Was there anything else strange about him???

What is the farthest you would shoot a .270 at elk??
More D replied to drgonzales's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Remember that our rifles will shoot BETTER than we do, accuracy wise. The practice and range time will tell you your max range for what ever caliber you chose north of .243. That said there a hand full of 400+ yard shooters and as Az4life said I aint one of them. An example of that is me two seasons ago. The practice and range time I spent the summer and time leading up the the Oct hunt had "graduated" me to the 400 yard max range for me, assuming conditions were right. Now if I hunted today I would be hard pressed to shoot at a deer at the 200 yard mark. Why? I haven't practiced. I working on that today. The range in 3 points is calling for me. The coyotes are hollering for me too! Single shots reply is the reason why I went with the '06 over the 7 Rem mag. -
What kind of terrain are you gonna be hunting? What are the ranges going to be like? I have NEVER seen a Moose but you ever see on TV are REALLY up close type hunts. I have NEVER seen a Caribou eaither but they seen to go down pretty quick on TV. Some of the guys on here will be able to tell you first hand about Caribou and Moose. Talk to your guide too. He has seen it all when it come to good and bad ideas about bullet selection. Look to the Remington Cor-locs and the ultra version of that bullet, you never seem to hear to much negative stuff about them. telling you what you all ready know isn't much help but I am sure every one else will be!
-
Wow it looks like the case had be made shorter to get the over all lenght in line. I am sure it won't make a lick of difference, just funny is all. The only lever action I have is a 44mag. Talk about bullet drop!
-
First for me TOO! It should be a great time, good luck!

I had been so down because even as late as this morning my CC showed ZERO activity. I figured that my wife, cousin and myself who applied with my card had seriously blanked across the board. I am so happy that I am in shock and sad all at once. I did draw a 6A BULL muzz tag and so did my uncle on a different app. What are the odds. It is my first Bull tag ever!!! This is my uncles 4th elk tag in as many years!! 3 cow tags and now a BULL!! What are the odds. Now the sad part.......My wife didn't draw squat......she is taking it hard too! My uncle and I are the only ones in the family to draw anything, out of seven family hunters. Congradulations to all who were succesful and SORRY to those where not! PS To those who did draw some thing PRINT OUT THE RESULTS PAGE Because like it says "This print-out shall serve as official notification of results"
-
We are ALL hoping that for your birthday you will finally get to see the draw results and draw your first choice tag(s)!!! Have a good day!
