This looks like a great bullet for the ultramag cal shooters. I agree that it might be a bit much for the little coues we like to hunt. I know that for my '06 it might not open up enough on the long range shots, just look at how little it mushrooms at 1800fps. A good clue as to how stout the bullet is. Too stout?? The Accubond has the same thing going on as far as minimum speed for mushrooming, 1800fps. that is why I have not tried it yet. Funny how in the last few years the 30'06 has become a slow poke caliber.

He might not be dead yet, they might have put him to sleep so they could take pictures of him for a prospective shooter. Shooter because who ever shoots him a'nit no hunter.

I would say go with what you have. It is far more important to get really good than to worry about arrow grain weight. Some guys who have been bowhunting for years will say that you can't go after Elk with less than a 500grn arrow! They might not be shooting compounds. -You should pratice with broadheads. -Work on your set up and once you find what works, if it does already don't mess with it. I have seen guys burn months and kill there own confidence because they get convinced they 'don't have enough' and make big changes. -Practice while standing or on a knee on un-even ground, Elk like hills too. I look forward to your scouting trips and pics!

C/W member says his card got hit
More D replied to Huntn coues's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Amex users! Last year I drew an elk tag but the charge to my Amex card appered between 2-3 days after the draw results were posted on the AZGFD web site. I remember this because I was really bummed out to here all the others whos cards were hit and I still had not seen any activity when I would check the CC web site. I could be off but that is the way I remember it. I applied this year on the 25th of Jan and they took the app fees the same day. Actual charges might go up but maybe Amex don't do Pending stuff. -

Our family has always processed our own game meet and we have not had any issues as of yet. The only thing that stands out is a young fork coues buck that my cousin took about four years ago. We all had high hopes for some great meat from this tender young buck but it came out gamie. The only thing that was done differently was that my cousin ran home from 36C and skinned him and froze the quarters bone-in. Since it was warm as usual but was still in a hurry to get back to camp he did not do the normal routine of butchering "in-shop." The loins were enjoyed that night and were great, the rest of the meat was not. The second is the Elk chorizo that my wife made back in November. I still have about 3 pounds left and it does not taste gamie but rather spoiled. The ground Elk is fine and so are the loins. I think that the canola oil that was used to prepare the chorizo was already used or just plain old. It makes me want to cry to have to toss that chorizo out. Besides that every thing else was great, especially the tamales. Don't kill it if you are not going to eat it(except for coyotes) and bucher your own if you want to eat the game you took!!!!!!!

Wow.........................that is sad. I couldn't imagin finding something like that. She looks healthy from the pic. Was she hurt previously or did she look weak? Injuries? Looks like she just timed the jump wrong.
