Thanks for taking the time to put this up. Enjoyed every minute of it. The audio was outstanding! I loved the glunking towards the end of the video. One of the best videos I've seen in a very long time. Thanks again hope your able to make a part two. Good luck!

This pic was taken within 100 yards of the buck pics. This squirrel just sat there in the same spot overlooking the canyon for over 5 minutes. I guess people aren't the only ones that admire the view.

One last buck.

Dang it you caught me earlier than expected! I knew someone would figure out these are Grand Canyon bucks but that was quick. After that controversial thread about the 227 buck I decided to take my kids up to the canyon to see some animals up close. The Canyon didn't disappoint and the kids loved it!

OpticNerd replied to bonecollector777's topic in Elk Hunting
Very nice! You ain't kidding about him being symmetrical. Great bull congrats! -
Congrats on your bull. Solo elk hunts can be very tough. You did good!

Here's one of his buddies. He wouldn't come out of the thick and these are the only shots I got of him.

I won't be hunting this buck just curious as to what he might score. Norteno he lives on the south side of the ditch.

Sounds like you might have been using a bad pair of Kiababs if you think the Swaro is 15 times clearer than the Vortex but maybe your eyes just don't like the Kiababs for some reason. Everybody's eyes are different. I've used them both side by side out in the field and for me I had a very hard time telling the difference between the two when it came down to on axis clarity. I found the Swaros just a bit sharper in the center but it was very hard for me to see the difference. I really had to look for it to see it. Edge sharpness was a different story. For my eyes the Swaros were sharp to the edge where as the Kiababs started to get a bit fuzzy at around 3/4 out from center. not bad though. It all came down to comfort and for some reason I just didn't find the Kiababs very comfortable to use for long periods of time. I can use the Swaros all day no problem but after an hour or so of using the Vortex eye strain became a bit uncomfortable. No headhaches, dizziness or anything like that but my eyes just started to feel tired and the Kiababs just didn't form to my face like the Swaros do. So definitely if you have the chance try them both out before you make your decision and if at all possible spend a day out in the field not just a quick look in a store. I know a couple of guys who love their Kiababs and are great glassers with them but for me and for how much I glass I'd say the Swaros would be worth the extra money if I had to choose between the two.

Congrats on a buck of a lifetime Broc! Hope you plan on giving us more details and pics soon.

Awesome thread! There's just something about velvet bucks. I Love velvet bucks! Nice buck Flatlander but it looks like it might be a different buck. Ear notches look to be different. Antler configuration looks to be almost identical though.

I guess him around 90-95 in the pic. Nice buck! Good luck getting him come hunting season.

I don't if this has been brought up yet or not but why did the G&F decided to call this 'Simplified' Fees? Can someone please explain how this new system simplifies things?
-
At first I was very opposed to a premium tag system but the more I think about it the more I'm beginning to somewhat like the idea. I have a few ideas, concerns and questions about this system. One of my main concerns is that I don't fully agree with the current method in which the G&F would determine which tags are premium or not. Just because the tag is during the rut shouldn't automatically classify it as a premium tag. I think that most of us would agree that a unit 6 archery bull tag is not in the same class as a unit 9 archery bull tag. Don't get me wrong a unit 6 archery bull tag is a good tag but I wouldn't consider it a premium tag. In my opinion one way to better determine which class a tag would belong to is by the tags draw percentage from the previous year. So if a tag had a draw odd of 7% or under for example then it would be labeled as a premium tag. Overall I think they should leave it the way it is. I feel we have a great system in place that has been working for us for years no need to chage it.

AGFD news Chronic Wasting Disease not found in Arizona deer and elk
OpticNerd replied to AGFD News's topic in News from Arizona Game and Fish Dept.
Correct me if I'm wrong guys but I don't ever recall the G&F stating that there were any documented cases of CWD in AZ. Shouldn't hunters be glad that there were no cases of CWD found in this study? I see no reason why someone would get upset with the G&F over this. I say good on ya G&F for being on top of things and all the work they are doing to help prevent the spread of this disease into our state. -

Sent you a PM Grong. Sorry guys I decided to take the video down for now. -
No hunting for me yet this year just been out having fun videoing with the kids. I haven't been able to get out for the last 4 days so I had some time to put together a video of some of the footage I've been able to get so far in 2013. No fancy editing just a whole bunch of clips set to music. Hope you guys enjoy it. Warning some of you might want to turn the music down. http://youtu.be/F_njS4Syi2

Third time in Mexico with Reynaldo finally paid off!

DANG! Sweet bucks all around! The score on that big buck will never give it true justice. He's probably one of the biggest 135 bucks you'll ever see. -
2013 Coues Rut Video
OpticNerd replied to OpticNerd's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
If I had to make a guess I'd say anywhere from 500 yards to around 50 yards. Majority of the video was probably under 300 yards but I didn't really pay too much attention to the yardage at the time and I never had a rangefinder with me. -

Thanks guys! I don't think the bucks are one in the same Amanda they look too different to me. Yes Jimmyc these are all AZ bucks. Got your PM Pixman I'll get back to you on it as soon as possible. Hopefully I'll be busy looking for deer for the next 4 days and maybe get enough footage to make another video. Thanks again and happy hunting! -
What an awesome post! Congrats on your success! Thanks for taking the time to put it all together to share with us.

Killer bucks guys congrats! Very nice job on the video. I thought whoever was videoing in the first clip did an awesome job keeping the shooter informed as to where the buck was, calling the missed shots, getting the range on the deer and running the camera all at the same time. That's some very good multitasking! I don't know if it has been posted yet but you guys happen to score your bucks?
-
Heck yea great buck congrats! Hard to tell but is he a 3x4 or a 4x4?
