Bucks! Big, Medium, Small & a 120++
OpticNerd replied to OpticNerd's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Thanks for the comments WildmanKC, wildwoody and Girls Shoot Better. +1. I could do it all day every day! Nice buck in your avatar btw. -
Here's a video I put together from the rut in 2013. I posted it here on CW last year but only left it up for a short time. I recently had a couple members ask if I could put this video back up and I figured what the heck. I changed it up a bit and added more of the bigger buck footage and left out a few of the smaller bucks but it's still very similar to the original. I have developed quite the passion for videoing coues in the rut over the years it's actually more of an obsession really. I'm already losing sleep thinking about next years rut and what I need to do to get better footage. There's just something about videoing rutting coues bucks that gets my blood flowing like no other. Anyways hope you guys enjoy the video as much as I enjoyed making it. As always don't forget to watch it in HD.

Bucks! Big, Medium, Small & a 120++

Thanks willhunt4coues. Everything I've seen shot with the FZ70K looks really really good. It's amazing just how good these small cameras are now days especially when you compared them to the video cameras I started out with 20+ years ago. I thought I mentioned this in one of my earlier post but after reading through all the post again I realized I didn't. All the footage was taken by video/digiscoping using a point and shoot camera connected to a spotter/scope. So just in case some of you thought it was videoed with just a point and shoot it wasn't. Just wanted to make sure there was no confusion. -

Thanks for the added comments guys. Ha Ha. A few offers but I had to turn them down. The wife still thinks I'm crazy for doing so. Yea I used both a Panasonic GH2 and G6 as well as my trusty point and shoot on this year's video. The footage was better in some ways with the dslr but overall I liked the small point and shoot better than both the dslr cameras I used. Here's the link to that video http://www.coueswhitetail.com/forums/topic/46859-2014-coues-rut-video/ The clips that begin at these times are all dslr footage :33, :56, 1:12, 1:24, 1:27, 1:46, 2:26, 2:28, 2:34, 2:57, 3:23, and 3:57. -

Thanks for the additional comments guys! It makes all the work putting these videos together worth while after reading all the positive feedback. Thanks! Already working on hopefully improving the video quality a bit for the next one. As long as I have the time and I'm able to find some bucks I should be putting another video together for 2015. I'm actually thinking on maybe putting a velvet bucks video together this year as well. I haven't videoed any velvet bucks in over 5 years. Good to know I'll keep that in mind -

Thanks for the comment Coach. Majority of the footage is from a Canon Elph 300 hs. There might be a clip or two that came from an Iphone or canon HV20. -
Yep I think your right johnnie blaze.

I gave it a shot but I just couldn't figure out how to kill any of the bigger bucks. I'm not a good enough hunter I guess. I did get extremely lucky this past December and was able to tag the 2nd buck in the video. I figured he grew about 5-7 inches bigger from what he was in the video. that's so cool that you have video of a buck you killed, in general if you have living photos or video of a buck that you kill, its special IMO Yea I agree. It took me a while after tagging him to realize he was one of the bucks I had videoed from the year before. After realizing what buck he was it made the experience of taking a buck all the sweeter knowing I had live footage of him. I've must have re-watched the footage I have of him over a dozen times since getting him home. Definitely adds something special to the hunt being able to take a buck you've got live pics or video of. Thanks for the added comments ElkyG and izquik72! -
Very nice! DANG that 3rd buck is a stud!

Wow great job all around! Outstanding camera work and editing. Definitely had a film/big production feel to it. I thought it was put together extremely well. Also felt Shane did a heck of a job narrating the video. Awesome work guys!

Thanks for the comments! Sorry for any confusion but I changed the title because I felt the old title was a bit to plain. Hey Mountainman99 I can't really remember all the distances but if I had to guess I'd say the average distance was around 400 yards. In order to get really clear footage most of the time I need to be within 300 yards. -

Thanks guys! I'm no expert by any means but if I'd have to make a guess I'd say one G2 to be 10.5 inches and the other to be 11.5 inches give or take. -

I wanted to share of some of the action I was able to get on video from this years rut that took place during January. Definitely not as good as last year video especially in the big buck department. I just couldn't find very many big bucks this year. Also had a very hard time getting any rutting action recorded. I didn't see much bucks chasing does but I did see more fights this year then I normally see. Some real antler busters too not bucks just sparring each other. It was awesome to watch but unfortunately I didn't get any of the good scraps on video. I had a lot of bad luck videoing this year when it came to getting any of the action recorded. Already looking forward to next years rut so I can redeem myself. As always be sure to watch it in HD.

Thanks Scott! I'm a bit busy and won't be able to get it back on Youtube for a week or two but I'll see what I can do.
-
Thanks guys! Muledeerarea33? off the top off my head I'd say there were 10-12 different bucks in the video.
-
Congrats on your first coues. You did extremely well for your first buck. Love the G3s on that bad boy!
-
Heck of a buck and write up of your hunt. I really dig his G1s that look like G2s. Congrats and thanks for sharing!
