I can't imagine the G&F trying to pass a no hunting within 1/4 mile of a trailcam law. Too many what ifs. No cam within 1/4 mile of a water source is makes more sense. What negative effects are caused by hunting next to a trail cam?

Interesting. I too wish there was more options when it comes to switch power binos. The only good one I know about is the Leica one.

5 in a day is pretty good. I don't think I get 5 in a year. Love the eyeguard on the biggest one he looks pretty good either that or the guy holding it has really tiny hands. You see any rutting activity?
-
Dang that's a sweet buck! Love his rack but there's something about his coat and face that makes him look extra tough.
-
Nice! Check out those killer bases! Love burred up bucks.

Best Rifle Season (nov 25 to dec 4) units?
OpticNerd replied to reece_mess16's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
If your in the military I would seriously consider putting in for Ft. Hauchuca if I were you. Only problem is I'm pretty sure they don't allow you pack in overnight I could be wrong though. Great place to hunt even if you can't pack in.- 27 replies

WOW! That's a killer set man! Wonder if he's still out there just waiting to drop a bigger set.

The bases on the bigger buck are pretty dang cool. I love burred up bucks. Congrats and thanks for sharing. -
Outstanding end of the year buck. Is he a 3x5?
-
You ain't kidding when you say youth hunters are killing it. Those are some great bucks. Congrats kids!

That's a sweet buck! Congrats Tristan! Buck has a unique looking coat. From looks of it I'd say they shot it 2-3 miles from my house. Score wise I'm gonna guess 116 3/8. DotShot do you know how much the buck weighed? -
That's cool. Your wife did a great job on that.

Outstanding bucks congrats. Hats off for deciding to take that wounded buck out. After seeing the pics that guy must have been hurting pretty bad. Do you think he would have made it another year if you would have passed on him?

For me every ounce counts when I'm backpacking. For a packing scope it's hard to beat these little guys IMO. Also when using my 50mm I can use my lightweight tripod and head combo that save me a good amount of weight. I wish I had some real world experience with the Vortex for you. As far as a 50mm scope goes I've been very satisfied with the results that I get from mine.
-
I'm a bit surprised by the not so good opinions on this scope. While I've never used one in the field I did have the chance to look through one at the store and I thought it looked pretty good to me. I've also heard quite a few people saying the 50mm Vortex compares favorably to the Nikon ED50 which I've had for about 10 years now and I absolutely love this little scope. I wonder if some people are getting bad copies of these little Vortex scopes. I can use up 35x-40x with my ED50 without any problems other than a dim image in low light conditions. Are you looking for a spotting scope specifically used for backpacking or are you looking for a scope for general all around use?

Every year I know more and more hunters that are good to 1000. Most of them don't realize that just because the gun is good to 1000 doesn't mean the guy shooting is good to 1000.

Congrats that's a dandy desert muley!

Depending on what you are trying to enhance there's not much that can be done to improve footage from a low quality source under most circumstances. Pretty much the only thing that can be enhanced that will noticeably improve the quality of the footage is correcting for exposure and a bit of color correction. You won't be able to zoom in on the original footage and get a clear usable clip unless the original is already clear in-focus high quality footage and even then if it's not a high bit-rate source like 4K or 1080 there's not much zooming in that can be done with degrading the footage. Still worth a shot but as mentioned earlier make sure you make a copy of the original footage before trying to edit it.

what to use to capture quality footage out to 500 yards.

What camera and scope are you currently using to do your digiscoping/videoscoping? -
Heck of a bull congrats! Gotta love them dark antlers with white tips.
