Havalon Knives - Check these out!
bowhunter4life replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in CouesWhitetail.com Store
ok I'm an idiot How did I miss that Amanda carries these knives??? I noticed on the funniest picture voting that the prize is one of these knives. ...Go figure........ I have been using this same knife for the last 3 years and with one blade to spare from the original 12 pack. I think with these 11 blades I have performed over 10 big game critters plus I skinned my lion life size. I just ordered another 3 packs of blades and a caring case from Amanda's store! Once you use one, you will not use any other! Mike -
+1! Wow, I just saw the last few days of posts on this thread, what a roller coaster ride! Glad you found your bull finally. What a tragedy to lose the meat, but at least you stuck with it and didn't go kill another bull. Thank you for your dedication. Well said, Thanks for letting me read and be part of this dedicated time to see you rewarded. Congrats on an awesome bull!

I'm confused, If you were shooting an elk I would understand but to have an arrow with a broadhead not penetrate a 100 pound coues through the shoulder. What poundage and what arrow, broadhead are you shooting? Did you arrow bounce off or only stick a few inches in? Thx!

Wasted My Late Dec Tag For Archery Buck
bowhunter4life replied to standman's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Great trade; a buck of that caliber with your bow, nicely done! -
This past year disappeared with a blink of an eye, the alarm range 3:30 AM. Opening morning was here. After parking my quad, changing into my sent lock suit with rubber boots, My ½ mile hike was on; walking very slowly not to get hot and sweaty. Also making sure not to make a bunch of unnatural noises I reached my honey hole. I always circle the back side not walking through my shooting lanes. As I set up and laid my gear out for the day I noticed the clock read 4:50AM. I was in good shape. I knocked an arrow and laid my bow across my knees. Closed my eyes and waited for the sun to give a glimpse of light. I am always amazed how the world around us always comes to life in the dark of night when all is quiet. As I could make out objects, I could hear the noisy sounds of hoofs. Man these elk sound like a freight train! 4 cows and a 6 x 6 appeared and were taking turns licking the salted area. They sure make a lot of weird faces after each lick and are very comical to watch as they took turns. I new I was in for a long day due to only having bucks on my cams during the daylight one time in the past week, It was 3 days before since he was tasting and enjoying my salted creation. I just finished glassing the thick brush 40-60 yards out, as I turned to lay the 10 x 42 down I saw a glimpse of an ear flicker. I raised my glasses back up and noticed ,”it a shooter!” 15 minutes past and he was coming from my left at 21-22 yards only giving a partial front shot. He was 5 yards from my main shooting lanes. I decided since he was acting semi strange as he kept looking back the way he came, it was time to shoot. Drawing my bow on the opposite side of the window and slowly lining up about 3” from the bottom of this check, tight behind his quarter. I touched the trigger, I saw him lower down just as the ICC 400 hit him. With him lowering and the arrow impact it took out the right top lung and also caught is spine dropping him in his tracks. I could not be more please to harvest just a beautiful God created critter!

draw your bow, settle your pin on the target, close your eyes, keep everything the same, count backward from 10 as you do. rest your finger on the trigger and start to apply pressure between 5 and 1. your eyes should be shut while counting. the bow will go off without you knowing, this has worked great in the past.

That is way I chose the other guy... Tired of both of those two!! I did the same, it is time for CHANGE, not the $#%#$!$# crap we have seen for the last 1 1/2 years. I think we are all tired of the direction we are heading...

You are correct, I spend about 25 days in the feild before the hunt making sure of were I want to be opening day. I would rather only have 2 days to hunt and 10 days of scouting. I know many people that show up without putting the time in and expecting results. Thank you for all the great comments!

We need to give them coues more credit, they know when things smell, see and hear different. This is real typical of hunting coues deer archery style. You need to sit dark to dark and put as many days in the blind as you can and you will be rewarded!. Happy hunting coues!

Thanks for the laugh!

I passed a green f250 around 6:30 heading south bound on 87 almost at the bush highway. He was sporting some nice bicycles on the back and a big -o- CWC sticker.
