Yes DCA is the Desert Christian Archers. We received a AZGFD grant to host a mentor camp. We had roughly 50-60 individuals (about 15 hunters) that attended the weekend event and provided every meal from Thursday- Sunday. We ended up having 7 Javelina harvested and with 6 of them being youth hunters. Mike

A very sad day, when I picked up my javelin a few weeks ago. They gave me the notice, they are truly the best!

All, First off thank you for your ideas and concerns. I have been part of this great website as a member since 2004. In addition, a board member with the DCA since 2003. Without member like you all (Coueswhitetail and the DCA) we do not exist. After reading all of the following, I agree there is some confusion and I am sorry that this raffle has caused personal concern for our image. With that said, the DCA does a tremendous amount of good for all Arizona wildlife and fellow hunters . All of us are volunteers and donate hundreds of hours each year in the name of hunting. Please PM me, if there is something that I may help with, I would be happy to call you, discuss how we can correct the current issue and make any future changes. We will be having a board meeting after the first of the year, this topic will be of first concern so that we never have an issue like this again. Please enjoy your families during this special time of year and Merry Christmas! Mike Ornoski -

No matter how many are sold, the gun will be given away on the 23rd. DCA thought with Christmas and the blessing of the rifle being donated. We should help make a lucky persons day by winning it for Christmas. *** A very special thank you to Ruger as they donated the rifle to DCA!*** -
An amazing adventure. Praise God, as many have never understood the sacrifice that you have come to realize. Your wisdom with understanding the big picture will bring many blessing to you, your children, wife and friends. Congrats on a beautiful goat!

Bowhunter4life strikes with rifle!
bowhunter4life replied to hoghntr's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Thank you every one for the kind comments. The last time I pulled the trigger on a deer with a rifle was 2004. Just a few miles from where I harvested this fine buck. My hunt took place in beautiful southern Az with a left over tag. I ended up taking a solo trip, due to other issues that came up with my friends who also drew the tag. I arrived at 3:30 pm Thursday, set camp, pulled my chair up, cracked a Corona, then began to glass the distant mountain about a mile off. Within short order, I found about 16 deer with three of them being bucks, one looked very nice. I watched them until it was to dark to see. The Alarm went off at 4:30 am. My plan was to set up in the dark about 200 yards from the bluff they were feeding at. I was a bit late as I was able to start to see the gray of the morning. I needed to get to the bluff to have the advantage. So I started glassing from there. All I know is these mountains are a lot bigger than they look ( I am out of shape)!! After about 15 minutes of not seeing anything, I proceeded up to the buff, About half way there I heard a faint rock being rolled. I looked back, There was the three bucks headed toward my camp. Lesson learned, they feed down the mountain over night, I ended up passing them in the dark. I decided to head to the tip of the a rock formation, That I found many years ago, it offers a superb glassing opportunity. Within a few minutes I found a group of bucks feeding parallel to me but a half mile away. I new there was a very nice ledge that would put me about 400 yards to them. I ended up backtracking and practically running to set up. As I looked over, I noticed 2 bucks sparing about 250 yards away. By then, I new these were new bucks, I then glassed to where I last seen the other bucks, I was shocked when they were only 100 up from the other two but feeding toward me. There ended being 7 bucks with a group of does. The rest is history, being an avid bowhunter for so long, I think I really enjoyed pulling the trigger! We already had some fresh hamburger, Yummy! -

Awesome 36b Mule deer, it is always great to see both while hunting. My son Jared and I are headed down to chase some coues within the same unit. With the weather being cooler than normal. Should make an awesome hunt. I agree with you, always make the hunt so much more enjoyable when glassing deer!

Another mile stone today, yesterday Jared was tested to see how all the chemo and radiation did. All I have to say is Thank you Jesus!!! Jared is NED (No evidence is Determined) So today October 8, 2015 of our Lord, Jared is now cancer free! What started on January 5, 2015 as stage 3 Hodgkin's lymphoma, through many prayers and an amazing facility (Phoenix Children's Hospital.) The doctors, nurses and staff truly are amazing. My son is officially cancer free. Thank you all for your support and prayers. The many donations that were given through the give away's (thank you Hoghntr) allowed my family not to worry about paying the on-going medical bills but to focus on Jared. So from the bottom of my families heart. Thank you for blessing us during our need! Mike, Jared and family

Just wanted to follow up with our 2015 journey, Jared is doing amazing! We are still waiting to complete final testing, but the expectation is he is cancer free! I would like to thank Hunt of a Lifetime through Brian Rimza who donated this very special bull tag to Jared. In addition, thank you to Parker Coburn and his dad Darr as they spent some special moments with us as we chased elk! Long story short, this past Sunday morning, Jared was able to stalk and hold steady for a perfectly placed arrow as this fine bull now completes his elk quest. Thank you to all of you, for your prayers and continued support! Just being able to be in Gods wonderful creation is truly an honor! Mike & Jared
