+1 Every thing I've shot with the G5 montec has never gone more than 50yrds. On my bear and deer I found my arrow stuck in the mountain 20 yrds behind where they were shot. Shot placement, shot placement, shot placement! But things happen. Like....bone that will deflect, break, twist, etc. Reducing cutting effectiveness and in some case complete failure. construction on one piece BH reduces that and allows the BH to cut as effectively as possible as long as possible. If you don't get complete pass through then it just sits in there and grinds away as the animal moves, cutting even more. I love the one piece construction, almost indistructable. Very little room for failure. Unlike other broad heads. I lost a bear 2 yrs ago to a 4 blade replaceable BH(yes they were tightened I'm very paticular)The bear pulled the arrow out. When I found it 2 blades were gone, still in the bear. 1 blade was bearly ( ha, ha) hanging on severely broken and fatigued. Obviously worthless and the last remaining blade was still in place but twisted.

If he's/she's that pissy, I don't think I want to run in to that one! Have protection. (preferably a buddy you can out run!)

G&F Update Regarding Draw Results
huntjunkie replied to kazpilot25's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Hilarious!!! Yea it's about the same draw odds on some hunts! It's lawyer/political talk.... Smoke and mirrors. Hey guess what if you don't change the system guess what.......? We will be having this same conversation on the next draw. They act like this is new! Hasn't happened before has it? I'm just saying. -
I understand what your saying.... But planning your fall schedule takes time coordinating work, family etc... So the earlier the better. Plus who wants to wait for unnessary delays?

Brought my bear home yesterday. This is a similar to the pose when i shot him. Very excited the way it turned out! I really debated whether I should have done a full body mount, as you know there not cheap! Thanks to palivs2hnt i decided to go through with it.(its always fun spending someone else's money right) Im glad i did! My taxidermist(private individual) pulled measurements when i brought it in. I looked them up on a "chart" according to the chart he weighed some were around the 450+lbs. (i'm 6'2" for height reference) GF guessed him at 8-9 years old. His official P&Y score is 20 1/16. Hunt story is under "Fall Black Bear"

Yea, poor guy! His wife had him shot and mounted for spending to much time and money hunting. He's not much of a trophy though....

Looks great! I saw it in there when he was finishing it up. I drooled over it for a while, hope ya don't mind. I would love to have a coues like that! Congrats!

They can sell me a tag every year! (preferably a Dec. Coues or a strip tag I'm not picky) Charge away!

In response to firstcoueswas80, I don't want to get in to it. But yes attorney fees loss of work etc... It adds up over time My point is, anytime your talking with a LEO, thats what game and fish officers are. They may or may not be good people, most are. However anything you say WILL be used against you in court. Trust me! It may not even be they way you said. It happened to me. It will be their interpretation. (This thread is a perfect Example) Don't believe me, try em. Their written statement will be what they remember if they aren't recording you. Just because their talking to you about hunting doesn't make them your friend. They have a job to do. No offense guys. I appreciate what you do! I'm sure it's not easy. My point is don't be nieve'. I try to obey all the hunting regs but every once in a while there's a got ya. We've all been there. And of course that's when ya get caught.

Pull everyone's money the day after the draw deadline. No different than mailing checks. Then you don't have problems. Other states have figured it out.

I learned that the hard way last year. Cost me nearly $20,000 dollars. Just keep your mouth shut!

Yep! You are guilty till proven innocent!

Wow!.... Ahhh beavas! I agree with twigsnapper. Last I checked we all use vehicles to aid in taking game. I know that there are no elk in Phx but seen them up north. So I guess I better start walking. Don't want a ticket.

A "property of G&F" might have the opposite effect.

Very nice bucks! I love the top 2!! Heck I love all of them!

Thanks! Want to hear something crazy? That's my first bear and deer. Both shot Labor day weekend a year apart. The bear 9-3-2010. The deer 9-6-2011. Can't wait to see what this Labor day will bring! It's like Santa Clause in September! Better to be lucky than good!

I kind of copied my taxidermist. His bear is mounted in a similar way. It's tough looking at all the molds trying to decide. I prefer the "natural look" the way you might see them in the wild.

NM 16B Scouting Pics.. Elk and Bears
huntjunkie replied to jamaro's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in New Mexico
Good to see the animals are doing well considering the drought and fire. -
Sounds like it might be time for new boots. 3 yrs ago in preperation for a 10 Day wilderness I went to over 10 different stores in different states searching for the "MY" perfect boot. Coupled with research on line I finally found it. Through that I learned that the Danner Pronghorns I had were not the boot for me. When I tell people I had trouble with em they look at me like I'm from a different planet! Everyone's foot is different so you need to find what's right for your foot not what's popular. I know this thread is about socks but some boots just won't work no matter what kind of sock or how many you wear. It sounds like it could be a boot problem. I was definitely in denal with my pronghorns, there one of the best right? Not knocking em. As for socks I only wear smart wool, high quality. Nothing else!!! Yea their $15+ a pair but when your hunt is ruinined because you can walk, now which is more expensive! Anyway sorry for the long write up hope this helps. Good luck! I know a good place you might sell those boots! Lol!

Never hunted there but I have had good luck in NM getting accurate information from wildlife biologist and G&F officers. Their intel has been spot on. If ya haven't, give em a call.

Help my Dad take a nice velvet Mulie in Aug. See my little girl put a tag on her first buck and help palivs2hnt get himself a nice bear. But most of all enjoying God's creations with friends and family!
