WM U 37B you're doing the right thing. Keep up the good work.

Devin, we already know how corrupt our department already is, and your now suggesting that they start a black list for anybody who criticizes them? This will go over great with the hunters in AZ... Wow, just wow. Big thanks to the wildlife manager for coming and posting. I for one always appreciate that kind of input.

That is a stud ram for sure!!! Congrats...

I'm looking forward to seeing you guys there. Goerge from the YVRGC is going to head in friday night along with myself and a few others. George has said he's gonna bring a pot of chili. I'm really hoping we have a good turn out because we could sure use the help. Thanks, Troy

I don't really think one has to officially join a Org to be involved. I haven't been a member of any AZ based conservation orgs for the last several years. I do however find myself on a project several times a year though. Some of the projects are AZGFD sponsored with little or no help from any of premiere AZ orgs. Last year I attended a ADBSS project and wasn't a member and I'm still not a member.I felt it was my moral obligation to participate and give back in an area where I hunt and take wildlife. My brother and I have a working relationship with our local WM's to help with their work load. These guy's are spread pretty darn thin. Something as simple as cleaning dead Bee's from a water trough to keep the water from fouling can help enormously. Then we'll call the WM and let him/her know what we did and give him a status report on the condition of the waterhole. This saves time and money. One thing I like to do is check critical sheep waterholes. Last year I reported a particular ADBSS catchment that was dangerously low. I contacted the local WM and he reacted immediately and ordered a helicopter to resolve the problem by bringing in water.

Donnie very good post. Once again I'm impressed..I'm looking forward to working with you on the 442 waterhole project. It looks like we're gonna have a few more hands helping this time around. To answer your question; I'm a conservationist and I think it's my moral obligation to volunteer several hours a year back to wildlife from which I've taken from rather than sitting on the computer beating the war drums. This is a two front battle. We need more sportsmen/women going to the meetings speaking on our behalf and and we need people volunteering a few hours a year because the Dept can only do so much. If more people were involved it would motivate the Dept. to listening and working with us. Honestly I'm sure they get a bad taste in their mouth's when they see people beating the war drums and complaing on the boards but nobody shows up to a waterhole project or a meeting. Anyhow I want to thank those of you who went to the meeting.

Travis, please post this on the forum: I’m in need of volunteer labor to assist with repairs to wildlife water catchment number 442 located in GMU 44A south of the Harcuvar Mountains. Initial work has already been conducted with the assistance from local sportsmen to identify a failure in the feedline supplying the catchment with runoff water. We will be replacing the feedline, resurfacing the concrete apron and making improvements to the drinker to prevent dead bees from fouling the water. As many of you may know, the Department has recommended a reduction in deer permits for GMU’s 42, 43 & 44 for the 2012 season. Assisting with constructing or repairing habitat improvement project such as this is one way concerned sportsman can be actively involved to improve resources and protect wildlife populations for the future. Volunteer labor, equipment and expertise are so important to the volume of projects that can be completed each year. If it wasn’t for the support of sportsman there are projects on the ground that would otherwise still be on someone’s To-do list. Date and Time: April 28 & 29 2012 We should have very little to do on the 29th. Camping out or staying the night is not required, but dinner will be supplied by Scott Brothers. Plan on being at work site by 9 AM Directions to work site: (See attached map) Exit US 60 at mile post 71 on gravel dirt road north from highway. Mile post 71 is approximately half way between Aguila and Wenden. Follow road(s) north to large power lines and cattle tank; Miller Reservoir. Once at power lines head west through gate. After gate head approximately 200-300 yards and turn north on two track road toward Happy Camp Well. At Happy Camp Well go around north side and take two track road north to catchment. High clearance two wheel drive vehicles required and they will get a little decorative pin stripping on the way, but it’s not too bad. Equipment to bring: Gloves Lunch Digging tools Water A friend with a strong back Anyone looking for other volunteer opportunities and information on hunting, fishing and shooting sports, visit: http://www.azgfd.gov/getoutside Thanks, Curtis Herbert Wildlife Manager for NE 44A & 20C 928-856-0766 Curtis Herbert Wildlife Manager Arizona Game & Fish Wickenburg 928-856-0766 If you want to learn ways to get connected to the outdoors, visit: http://www.azgfd.gov/getoutside

I'm on board Donnie. -
The number of a persons post has nothing to do with the merit of what one has to say in his or her post.

I think a few of you guys are missing Donnies point. With or without the bill we as sportsmen and women need to engage and join a group that fit their specific needs. I am proud to announce that I'm a part of a grassroots upstart group called SOUTHWEST SPORTSMEN'S ALLIANCE. This bill had nothing to do with it. It was our declineing deer herds and struggling sheep population that motivated me to join. Honestly I haven't seen one single Org being proactive in helping our sheep and deer herds in the northern half of region 4. At least now, I know I'm joining a group that has an interest in the area's I live and hunt. It was alarming to me to see how many people griped and complained about this bill and gripe and complaine about the dept and thats all they do. They might write a letter or two and villianize people who don't agree with them. But of the loudest people beating the war drums had a golden oppurtuninty to show up at a AZGF sanctioned waterhole project this past weekend failed to show. Honestly the animals don't care who gets the money or tags. All the animals care about is food, water and shelter. They can't do it by themselves and it's up to us to do it for them.
