    "New" Coyote rig

All I use is 3 1/2" #4 Buck and out of the Mossberg 835 Ultimag it drops them in their tracks out to 80yds. I have killed a couple @ about 100yds but thats pushing it. The 3" #4 buck will also get it done inside about 60yds. Geoff

salt and feed no more in 2009

Call me an OUTLAW or what ever you want, if they decide to outlaw salt then let them try to enforce that....hahaha. our G&F is a JOKE. I will keep on keeping on and if they want to find me and write me a ticket for hunting over salt then so be it. We have to stand up for what we want and if that takes me getting a ticket and or fine then so be it!! I will not lay down for this B.S. guess I will change my screen name to "outlawcoueskiller" Why make laws they can't enforce????? If things keep up on this pace it won't be long before we can't even go into the woods let alone hunt. Geoff

    pigs...3 for 3!!

Here’s the story…. Started glassing Saturday morning at sunup. Found a herd about 1/2mi. away at around 8am. Watched them feed up on top of a hill then we made our move. As we were cresting the hill Randy(the guy in the bottom pic) motioned to me that he could see the pigs and they were close. He drew back and let one rip, it deflected off some catclaw and hit the pig in the hind leg breaking it. We trailed him for the next hour before we were able to get him in the bottom of drainage and finish him off. Later that afternoon I was up on a hill glassing and found one lone pig about 1/4mi. away. I watched him for a bit and he was the only one I saw so off I went to try and get him. It worked perfect as I was closing the last 50yds he decided to feed his way right down to me. I waited and the wind was a bit shifty but it all worked out ok as he paused for a few minutes then kept on coming right to me. He stopped quartering to me at 10yds and I let it rip hitting him just in front of his right front shoulder and exiting out his left hind quarter, he spun around woofing and took off up the ridge. He stopped again at the top of the ridge and I let another rip just grazing his back. I went up and got my first arrow and it was covered in blood from tip to knock with visible lung blood on the shaft and fletching. I had a good blood trail and was following it to find the pig bedded with the only shot available being a headshot straight on. I decided I would try and put one in his brain to finish him off. Well I shot a tad to the left burying arrow just low and right of his eye, he stood straight up on his hind legs, teeth popping and ran sideways about 15yds before going down for good. Sunday my father-in-law(middle pic) stalked in on another herd of pigs and got to about 25yds before he ran out of cover(this was his first stalk while bow hunting) he picked out one of the best pigs and shot hitting her in the gut(very excited). We watcher her run off into a thick draw and we gave her about and hour then went looking. It was easy to follow the blood/gut trail thru the draw but it was just getting thicker and narrower, well he found her face to face as she was rocked up in the end of the drainage with no way out but thru us and she didn’t want to run anymore so she made her stand. Teeth were popping like crazy and she was growling something fierce, he backed up a bit and tried to shoot her to finish it off but with all the brush in the way it was tough. He hit it once more and emptied his quiver and the pig was still plenty alive. He slowly made his way towards the pig to try and get an arrow back and was able to do so……man that was hairy, she was growling and tooth popping like crazy and I was getting it all on film. We then backed out a bit and he was able to get a good shot in her and finished her off.

    Is this carp real.

FAKE!!!! I think......... pretty sure I saw before that it was a wood carved set of horns, but I could be wrong. I have also had the chance to see some of the monsters on the Navajo and yes some of them look like young bulls. Geoff

    New to Forum

You are right on with your thoughts about the pine tree country, no big coues in the pines for sure! Move down to the lower country where all the big bucks live and try spot and stalk. Since you have never taken a coues you should consider taking one if he presents a shot just to get one under your belt. I had 9 coues bucks under 15yds on opening day of the August archery hunt and let me tell you even with everything perfect it's still tough to get a shot, I had a 100" 3x3 at about 12yds and he knew something wasn't right and moved out before I could get a shot. These little deer are super spooky and blow out at the slightest hint of something being wrong. Good luck and keep after them and sooner or later you will be rewarded for your hard work. Geoff

    processors or vultures

I have used Rhonda's many times over the years and even worked there P/T for a couple of years. I have never had any problems and the place is very clean. I have used all the guys in Flagstaff and none of them are bad in my opinion. Sorry to hear about your experience and I have forwarded this topic to Larry & Rhonda. Later, Geoff

    Caliber preference

Both are fine coues calibers but the .243 lacks in energy after 350yds, with the .300 you got more than enough to shoot as far as you feel comfortable. I shot my first coues with my .243 and he is just as dead as the coues I have shot with my .270 & 30-378. Shoot which ever one you shoot best and put one in his lungs and it's game over. Geoff

Well Ol Dogman pulled the match out of the woods!

Grong my friend, Oh yes loose lips do in fact sink ships, is it just blind luck that there was a convoy of lion hunters in there this past weekend when Doggiestyle and I were in there trying to catch a lion, maybe so but I think not. I know nothing about hunting lions but am learning more everytime I'm out with Grong & The Dogman and totally respect these guys and I share no info with anyone about where we go, not that's it's a secret spot but just out of respect. I have hunted the area where these sheds were found since the late 80's, does that make it my spot, nope as there were many guys that hunted it before me, heck my grandfater hunted it in the 50's. I haven't been in that country in a couple of years and it was nice to get back in there and after seeing those sheds I just might have to hunt it again someday, who knows maybe we will get lucky and find that big buck under a pile of leaves! I think a Fireman must have stumbled onto the area as there was a ton of guys out there this past weekend!! HAHAHA........ Can't we all just get along........ Later, Geoff
