My first Arizona whitetail hunt- 36C
SWDesertRat replied to AndrewJ's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Nice write up. Enjoyed the pictures and perspective. Thanks for sharing -
PRDATR - thanks for the heads up, I didn't see that thread. SWDesertRat - Respectfully, since you mentioned high school, do you remember those kids in high school that always went against the grain just to stand out? You know, those kids that thought they were cool by pretending to not care but really they always did and threw their two cents in whenever they could. You remind me of those kids right now, why even comment on the thread if you're just gonna be negative? We all come on this site to share and be accompanied by others who share the same interests. I'm not as into hunting in Africa as other people but you don't see me going into that thread and throwing out negative comments. No, I just keep scrolling down. So next time you have a thought like this one, don't type, scroll. "Just saying" Well you got me, wasnt trying to be negative just sharing my opinion since everyone else was tossing theirs nto the circle. Im not the type to beat around the bush and I dont take myself too seriously, but I also respect others opinions and wasnt trying to rain on them, just didnt understand all the ruckus for a tv show. From a perspective standpoint I honestly never saw that show until a family member was in the hospital recently and I watched it. I didnt see the appeal for such a following but then again I only saw an episode. i know guys that like the show and quote from it all the time but the quotes are lost on me. Where's Lark to add some insight on something like this..? I stand by my previous statement about reality tv though, I think if folks stopped feeding the beast of shows and ratings and the producers that make them less crap would end up on tv, but heck what do I know? I appreciate your opinion tho and will keep doing whatever scrolling or commenting i feel is appropriate. Thanks for reading... EDIT*** Just noticed you were the OP, I see why you posted what you posted now. My statement remains unchanged. Chilllll Winston.

Respectfully...I dont give crap. The less so called 'reality tv' the better. I dont have the time or desire to watch cable tv. Does there really need to be two threads about this? Its worse than a high school rumour mill. Just sayin

KUIU pack vs. Outdoorsman Pack
SWDesertRat replied to mountain man's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Yes. The pack was designed for this exact component. Depending on the size of your spotter you may have to strap it externally or in a zippered pocket. -
Anyone hunt Brown/Grizzly in Alaska?
SWDesertRat replied to ready2hunt's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
+1.Unless you can talk an immediate family member (brother, sister, dad and mom...can't recall on grandparents) into moving to Alaska you'd better start saving too. In some areas, guides are booking 3 years out and most start upwards of 15K. If you are set on a brown/grizz, I'd suggest going to the Safari Club International Convention in Las Vegas in Feb 2014 or 2015 and talking to as many outfitters as you can and decide what type of hunt experience you want and which outfitter can provide it. I personally think brown/grizz has become one of the more expensive hunts in the last 10 years, at least doubling in that time frame. Dall Sheep and goat hunts are still fairly reasonable, respective to the same time frame and compared to bears. Cheaper solution is always the Alaskan black bear, DIY or guided. Inland or coastal. If you go in with one or two other hunters for DIY you might expect to pay around 2K each for everything (plus or minus depending on airfare, location, etc ) guided will run you around 3-6k depending on what options you decide on. I could be off on my estimates and others should chime in. If I had to choose between dall, bear or goat. I'd go bear because I think it the cost will only continue to climb but that's just a guess. -
Very nice buck! Looks like you guys killed a couple on your hunt. Good times

No harm no foul. Best part is all the comments kept your post on top. I wasnt trying to be a jerk, just gave up on trying to take a look at your pup since I was having browser issues. Nothing like dangling a carrot that someone else can see and smell but you cant. Ya dig?The web issues happens every time I have tried to look at your webpage. I can give you more details abt whats happening in a PM if you want to solve it. Anyways, who cares... GLWS I think wire haired GSP are great dogs. Hope she finds a good hunting home.

http://www.blackriverkennels.net/ - Under For Sale Im all for convenience but for those of us that browse with mobile (at least for both my apple products) that website makes my browser appear as if its on meth and seriously tweeking..If you can't take the time to provide basic information then be cognizant that it is somewhat aggravating to click another link that just gives you problems and frankly my interest disappears.Just sayin... Sorry, I was just trying to help. I don't have a smart phone (Blackberry) and do not use it to access the Net. He was asking $2,500. PRDATRMy bad, that wasn't intended as a dig against you but venting my frustration of the OP only posting a link and no additional info. Thanks for posting up the price for us btw..

Any sucess in 24A this weekend?
SWDesertRat replied to AxisWorks LLC's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Not to derail this thread but... I also know of people that report 'No Kill' on their survey when they did kill. They worry that somehow G&F is going to track their harvest and punish them by not 'allowing' them to draw a tag the next year. I think this all comes out in the wash and tag numbers are determined by deer survey results that they do each year as well as stratified data (with errors from false and lack of reporting) from hunter harvest surveys. If you want your opinion to be heard re: tag numbers etc, voicing them on a forum isn't the best venue. I would also encourage every hunter to visit a G&F office when the hunt recommendations are open for comment. Become familiar with how the data are used and what goes into the recommendations. As some have already stated about these meetings, there are generally only a few (like 3 or 4 tops) hunters present at each meeting. Be vocal and involved. -

Awesome buck bc! Love the character. Tough hunts can be some of the most memorable. -
The Nikon P- 223 3x32 is on Camofire right now for 99.95, for a few more hours..seems like a good deal.

Welcome to the site! What part of the state do you live or were you planning on hunting for deer and where is your javelina hunt? BOW is a great introduction to many things hunting and outdoors. hope you made some good connections there. I know women that have been going to them for years. Perhaps if other members know what city you live in and hunts you were planning it might help others to free up some time or invite you along if they have the same hunt or neighboring.

Glad you could maximize on the opportunity. Amazing how soft those images are compared to the ruggedness one normally would see looking from those vistas. Thanks for sharing!

Amazing bull! Congrats to father and son on a lifetime animal. Not saying that hard work paid off because they obviously put time and effort into preparing and hunting but man some people have the best luck.

I am interested in responses as well. I too want a new harness. Elk Hunter had a pretty good review on a number of harnesses this past summer issue and I would like to see some of the harnesses in person. I can't stand the regular harnesses with all elastic and want something that holds them firm to chest and keeps out dust, twigs and moisture.

Time to catch up on a lot of hunting!
SWDesertRat replied to Koury Guide Service's topic in Koury Guide Service
Great bull! Looking forward to your update on animals taken this fall. -
Dang ol dang. Thats a good deal for this set up. The Spot Hogg alone is worth half of asking price.
-
Wow! That was a good deal. I sure hope someone was able to capitalize on that. I didnt read this until after closing time or else I woulda been suckered into saving money. Glad folks support site sponsors and local!

In 2009 I saw a troop of coati above Fossil Springs dam near the flume trail. It was a pretty good sized troop too. Always cool to see those critters.

Nice job and great unbroken bull! Any day you can kill a bull and find a shed is a dang good day in any book!

Tripod head thread size adapter
SWDesertRat replied to joeinaz0's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
You likely need the 3/8 to 1/4 adapter. I have an extra if that's what you need. If you don't live here in the valley. I'll mail you one. PM me your info if you're interested. -C
